What's the story here? Is that one of your queens? How long has the colony been queenless?

@@KobeApiaries i went ahead and let them eat the candy. The reason why is because i had caged this gal a day or two before. Had she been fresh out of the mating nuc I would have just let her loose with this sort of response. On another note, I’m tempted to do an experiment. I have an II queen that hasn’t laid yet. She’s pushing 3 weeks which is about the max time I’m willing to allow I think. I’m half tempted to drop a mated queen right in there with her. Once before I couldn’t find the II queen so I added a new one. Came back a month later while inspecting and i found the II queen in there with the rest of the crew on an outside frame all by herself. The other queen was just doing her thing.

@@KobeApiaries to tell you my honest opinion, i could have let her march right in. But, i was playing it safe. I personally believe that many of the queens ordered and shipped have often been banked for a long time. I ordered from XXX this year for example. I know they don’t raise their own queens in IA in april. So, those queens were shipped to them. Who knows how long they were banked before that. Or how long XXX banked them. 2 of the 4 survived install. One is tremendous. The other was decent until i accidentally killed her the other day. But, ordering queens in is expensive and then its questionable if they take. Especially if she’s been banked along time. I can’t believe it doesn’t have a major impact on introduction.
