Not really true Messi is definitely taller than 5'5 is about 5'8 or 5'7 and most tall players aren't quick like the Short ones especially from 6'3 upwards

Actually skill tops speed, you need space to run past players, they need to give you space so you can kinda kick the ball and beat the defenders to get to it but if you can just dribble past them it doesn't matter if they give you speed or not, you are getting the ball past the defenders (assuming both speed and skill are successful of course)

Speed definitely doesn’t beat skill. Players that only have speed are pretty one dimensional. A combination of both is necessary.
Fast players definetely have a big advantage but most of them, who aren't also technically gifted and/or have tactical insight, have the shortest careers because the once they pass 28 there's fresh 18y/o dudes lining up to take their spot.

Being short with small legs helps in dribbling, and acceleration and you have low center of gravity which helps in body balance so your ball control is better. apart from that, short height does not help in sprinting/speed.

You saw tested to the limit, and he would beat the sprinter on 100 mts.. but it was a 60m that beneficted the shorter pro sprinter, even if you saw CR7 have a hesitation on the start that costed him 0,5s.. Generaly, shorter guys have advantage in the explosion start, but taller guys naturaly are faster in top speed .
