"On The Left"-Sisters In Arms:
I wear my medals
I wear my medals
I wear my medals on the left
(Army Verse)
Tank Commander 1st AR
In an M1A1 Abrams on a live fire battle run
A sixty tonne hull of steel,
The king of the battlefield
In the Mount Bundy northern Sun
The turret spins, the target found
The big gun shakes the ground
In the noise and dust the job is done
I’m in the Army and I’ve made the grade
I’ve served my country in the 1st Brigade
(chorus)
And I wear my medals on the left
I proudly wear my medals on the left
I served with pride
And because they’re mine
I wear my medals on the left
I wear them on the left
(Navy Verse)
HMAS Adelaide was ordered out to intercept
A drug ship in the seven seas
We tracked the target out of sight
Under the horizon line
And we set off the LHD
The RHIBs were launched into a storm
Choppers rose into the dawn
We took that whaler by surprise
The Navy is a part of me
I served my country on the sea
(chorus)
And I wear my medals on the left
I proudly wear my medals on the left
I served with pride
And because they’re mine
I wear my medals on the left
I wear them on the left
(Air Force Verse)
I’m an officer cadet
I’m strapped into a PC9
Training at 2FTS
Pre flight checks and master switch
Throttle up the engine kicks
I’m off off runway 1-8 Left
10,000 feet the world below
Up into a loop I go
I’m on the top and on my way
Got my wings I learned to fly
I served my country in the sky
(Chorus)
And I wear my medals on the left
I proudly wear my medals on the left
I served with pride
And because they’re mine
I wear my medals on the left
I proudly wear my medals on the left (Ooooooh)
I served with pride
We were side by side
I wear my medals on the left
I wear them on the left
Whooo!

are you our version of angry cops?
Forced fun... I prefer the yank term, *voluntold* 😂
just saying, this video is fucking amazing. thank u
Hey mad minute was a WW1 era shooting technique with a Lee enfield that allowed the person to shoot at least one bullet every 4 seconds
If you didn't know you can put the timestamps in the description and it will create chapters
Probably the finest historical record of military culture produced.
Fuckin what hahahahahahaha
that is 100% lol !!!
Stabbed - 'Voluntold' (Volunteered / Told) may also be used here. "Oi, LID, come 'ere and sweep this bay. You have been 'voluntold'...
"Who can ride a motorbike?" Hands go up. "Right, you three are on mess duty." "What's being able to ride a bike got to do with mess duty, sarge?" "You're right, Sapper Smiff, you can do guard tonight, Wilson, you're on mess duty in his place." "But I can't ride a motorbike either, sarge..." "There's always one in every troop...."
Definitely up there
NAVY-Never Again Volunteer Yourself
G'day everyone thanks for watching. I have a bad habit of getting overly ambitious with video ideas, which results in me making monster projects that take months to complete like this one. I edit for love of the game, and enjoy it as a creative outlet, however video's of this length sadly are not sustainable with the demands of the real world. Perhaps there may come a day where I can focus exclusively on CZcams content, but that time is not now. Accordingly, I'll likely return to making shorter (sub 15 minute) videos as this channel moves forward. My deepest gratitude for spending your valuable time watching these creations. Many thanks, -K
Big Boi, I love your channel. Keep it up! It's been a while mate.
Your favourite Cav dude....
This was absolutely brilliant. I've never watched your channel before, and the algorithm served this up. I'd be surprised if this video doesn't do very well, get ready for it!
Nonetheless, fantastic
G’day there, congratulations on a well made video! Great to see you showcasing the humour and not shying away from the scandals and bad times.
Are you related to the backyard naturalist?
Where has this channel been all my life
Appreciate the kind words
@@coralsearc no worries at all, killer content mate!
He's been watching The Odd Angry Shot
This bloke and yorak hunt would be a legendary duo
@@Willibertcrugson agreed
“No duff, robocop” made me laugh. I appreciate that the terms are outlined in the statement.
I'm not even military but Search and Rescue and volunteer Firefighter- This whole vid had me laughing my arse off.
Genuinely glad to hear that it makes sense to an outsider 😆❤️
18:39 I happen to know what went wrong, they meant to hire an indigenous dance troupe, but outsourced to another company who in turn did not in-fact hire a indigenous dance group. My father got a real kick as he did staff course with the captain of that new ship 😂
That would certainly make sense
Outsourcing to outsourcers. Typical bloody government work.
The ADF cryptids and other spooky events like Kitty's dam were great. You should do a full video on ADF paranormal topics. I know there is more out there and some especially good navy ones if you go looking.
Actually a great idea
The Golden Rivet…
Which part was the cryptid section?
i have a great one from a certain course at singo 1980
The intelligent roos of singleton, or the helper wallabies of the vere who carve out paths up the slopes, only to leave weak points that you, one unlucky digger will find and go cunt up down the gully, much to the amusement of your mates.
US Army here, we absolutely use a lot of the same slang , like dog & pony, gucci, would you rather, rock throwing, work through lunch, at dental, etc. Plus a few other similarly named ones like forced fun/mandatory fun, fat truck/gut truck, diggernet/private news network (PNN), EDP1/MEDPROS, and just to reiterate/to caveat off that. Loved working with y'all in the Philippines.
👌🏼
Can't imagine someone willingly transcribing the lyrics for *that* song. I hope someone bought you some top-shelf booze for putting yourself through that
It took a group effort to work out "training at 2FTS"
😅😅😅😅😅
33:40 the Mad Minute started with the Lee Enfield rifle in WWI because the comparably short 303 allowed for the bolt to come back without smacking your face so you could cycle it real quick and thus you would use your middle finger to pull the trigger whilst madly cycling the bolt through a 10 round mag (the standard at the time was 5) which gave the enemy the impression that the Brits were suppressing with Automatic fire.
I do love the evolution of it becoming a brawl though haha very Aussie.
Fortune smiled on me today, the algorithm served me up something worth watching, and once I figured out who put this together I hit that sub button harder then Titanic hit its own proverbial Iceberg.
Thanks for the quality content!
Many thanks mate
Found myself smacking that sub button harder than Chris brown smacked his wife
Wow - some real gems amongst that lot. Noting my service occurred during a protracted period of relatively little operational activity for the ADF (1977-96), anyone with active service medals were relatively unique. I would therefore like to add to the ancestry of 'Crusty'. In my era 'crusty' was a term liberally applied for any still serving Vietnam Vets or anyone essentially over the age of 35, there was no specific or implied negative reference to Warrant Officers. Another term regularly used was 'Carl Gustav' (anti-armour weapon) - soldiers would give this name to one-night-stand partners - later the partner would ring the base looking for this soldier - much banter in the guard room when you received these calls. P.S. To anyone out there 40-50s named Carl - no I am not your dad!
I served around the same time 77-86. I forget how many times sheilas would ring the Guard Room asking for 'Brett, he's a helicopter pilot..." We didn't have dolphin trainers in my day. Me and my mate whitey did the helicopter pilot thing one Friday night only to have our dates turn up at the Open Day on Sunday... while we operated the hand tool stand demonstrating how engineers use long handled shovels and mattocks.... Not very glamourous and sadly the last time we saw either of the two Debs.
Thanks for contributing these stories from your time 🤝
The amount of work put in this video is insane. Thank you for your service
I appreciate that
Man I'd kill to get the Canadian version of this. This was an awesome look into the culture of the ADF. Thanks man.
Really impressed by the production and the humor, well done!
21:00 Ive had NCO’s say “who likes ice-cream” very effective on recruits.
great video mate, randomly fell into it from youtube recomendations and found myself still here an hour later
Glad you enjoyed!
I want that Iceberg photo
Have now posted it to instagram
@@coralsearc can't see it
It's the latest post with the same thumbnail photo
Awesome video. I can't wait for more! Definitely worth the hour procrastinating on school assignments.
This was great! Seamless usage of adverts within the content as well. Subscribed!!!
Awesome, thank you
Oh man, this was great. Thank you. More please!
Brilliant video, mate! You brought a genuine smile to my face, hearing some old slang I haven't heard in years!
Glad you enjoyed it
Such a well done video. Really enjoyed it. Thanks
This was hectic. Brought back some spicy nostalgia. Good shit 👍
Glad to hear it hit the spot 🤝
I’ve been looking for this for years, thank you for producing this
Glad you enjoy it
What a cracking video. Well done mate
Thankyou fella
I love learning more about my allies, great video man!
Glad you enjoyed!
This is awesome. Wish I could see the rest of your vids though.
such a good video man, also listened to your poddy on zero limits recently as well as dean caswell’s & loved both of em.
Much appreciated mate. Dean Caswell is a legend of the RAR, now CZcamsr but also Kibeho veteran. Funny how life works out.
Man, you are talented! This edit is bananas!!
I used to work for a DSTG research centre and got to see the whole ADF's logistics, acquisition, operation and culture from the top down and it was the wildest job of my career. The army was always my favourite, I love the people I met from army engineering corps the most, they were so jaded and wise despite all being probably under 25? 😅
I found this video extremely entertaining and funny. God speed you magnificent Digger.
Glad you enjoyed it mate
First time I have ever watched a full hourlong YT video without skipping forward once (I skipped back a bit). Absolutely loved it!!
That is a huge compliment. Thankyou 🤝
This was very interesting, great job with the video and the quality is really good
Awesome, thank you!
Take you for the video, felt like I just lived through my career all over again with these sayings haha.
The Lid one is so funny to me. I'm ex British Army and I had a couple mates transfer over to the Australian Army. We usually call our berets Lids so the idea of Lid being the equivalent to our Crowbag is hilarious.
Seeing the some of the pictures used and going “no f-king way” when I realise I know some of these people and in one instance how extremely ironic it was. Fantastic video hahahaha
Seeing family friends in the photos for the Tania part was wild for me. Thanks for the vid!
Glad you enjoyed it
Finally, a good Aussie channel. Thanks for the amazing content mate 🫡
Glad you enjoy it!
Just what I needed before my Gap Year. This is gonna be fun.
I love how rock throwing is a universal game
Great video mate! Surprised at how much I related to this.
Much appreciated mate
bump, bro the sheer volume of editing this would have required
Nice one mate. Sharkfin told me to watch vid. Absolute masterpiece. Alright I'll get back in 🤣
Bro this is fantastic. I'm loving the video.
Many thanks mate
Outstanding work.
It was like I was back in all over again😂
Glad it gave you a taste of nostalgia
Fark. Hearing Questions queries or doubtful points was so nice to hear again. Like sliding into a hot bath of that shit you dip your cams in before tully. Unreal.
That shit used on early 90’s cams to suppress IR😭. Who had AA batts to run nvgs to test it?🤷♂️ why? Why?🤣
Awesome unvarnished insight, warts and all into army lingo. Much respect. Anyone heading to Kapooka needs this.
Thankyou mate, glad you enjoyed
The commentary as well as images is hilarious and so well done. I have zero military experience but watched the whole thing.
Appreciate that mate
Hahahahahaaahhahhahah! 😅
This is legit. This is something to show your family or civi mates with a beer to have a laugh and share something that you usually can't explain! Well done mate. Keep It up!
The Mad Cow was originally Langs Tavern, home of 1RAR. Almost went broke when we deployed to Somalia. The classic Liver Buster was the drink of the day mid 90’s, 5shots of white spirits, plus a colour of your choice, in a beer mug, ice and lemonade. Blue Curacao was the favourite, being 1RAR of course.
Appreciate the history
I was Morrie’s best mate growing up. RIP Andy🙏
Fantastic video, I have watched twice. Thanks mate
Awesome, thank you
This man deserves a CO's commendation for this absolute gem!
I'll settle for a banjo
Never been anywhere near the military, and I had so much fun watching this video, thanks mate!
That's high praise my friend, Thankyou
This should be shown at Kapooka and RMC as part of indoc
Great video, thanks for the nostalgia
Glad you enjoyed
the mad minute was adopted as a result of the boer war, it's why you have a 10 round magazine and can operate the bolt of an SMLE while keeping a sight picture. It was a famous tactic of commonwealth forces in WW1.
Holy shit, this was a massive effort. Good job, well done. No duff.
Much appreciated mate
The algorithm has deemed this video worthy, Praise be to the Machine God.
Most excellent
Thank you, I needed this. Better now 🎉
Thanks mate
Lots of good memories here. Thanks mate
Glad you enjoyed it mate
love this content instant sub.
Welcome aboard
I was on Sub 2 in Wide Bay in Summer. We begged for rain. But, just like getting rain when you don't want it, it also won't rain when you need it.
Mate, where have you been all my life this is sensational
Haha appreciate that mate
I grew up in Rupertswood (now Alice River) and remember dad would always honk the horn and give a wave to the boys pulling up at the servo on their way outbound to Harvey's Range. Good times
Your dads a sick bloke
Wtf this video is so fucking good. Thank you for making it. Really appreciate the very 2023-2024 meme/reference clips too
I do enjoy a spot of meming
First video I've seen of yours, but god that sharp turn from level 4 to 5 was hard, great video though.
I left the job in 1986 and while there are numerous new terms, it is heartening to see so much I knew and held dear lives on with our current crop of diggers. People often berate our Gen Zs and Millennials but I remind them we were berated when we were their age and it was BS then and it's BS now. Anyone who signs on the dotted line and enlists escapes the inglorious end known as being a civy. great work, liked and subbed.
Reaalll good vid, everyone should be sent this at enlistment day
babyporo minge
Was just a choco for a few years so some were new to me but loved the vid brought back good memories
Cheers mate keep up the good work
Glad you enjoyed it
How dare you ambush me with medals on the left like that. That was fucking rapid.
Gotta stay full tac
Mad minute actually goes back to WW1 when using the Lee-Enfield
Mid Point - the septics called those who wore Mid Point, Bruised Banana's.
Last time I eas at RAAF Tindal the MI-24's were still in a hanger there.
God I love AJ lingo. The best and this iceberg is the best ive ever come across no Questions, Queries, Doubtful Points about that.
I still have ptsd from breezeway time at 3RAR & we quickly learned to fade away.
Banjo is my favourite. Also thanks for the Monsoons shout out.
Place of legends
This video brang back so much ptsd... Thank you.
40:00, on that same highway but further up north, there is another military organisation that has people screaming and honking from the car at them
Subscribed, cheers!
This is so good and impeccably accurate 😂
Great video
However mad minute came from the technique inww1 where people would use a specific technique to have an obscenely high fire output eith a lee enfield
This is.... outstanding!
“A mindset of crust” amazing
It truly is a state of mind 😆
Fuck me this is so good. Ive been smiling all the way through. Absolutely nailed it.
Fire piquet is to dry your socks and keep the routine up. Its good to sit by the fire with a mate.
I don't have any military background, but the Mad Minute was at least as old as WW1, where a company of British riflemen was generally able to fire off approximately fifteen rounds from a Lee Enfield of the time.
BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR A BOER WAR SHOUT OUT !!
OG diggers
Emu Mob is a favourite of the scouts Australia as well. Got told to do that a lot at the end of a day to get all the rubbish.
28:51 "..the most inconvenient moment" whilst showing that particular scene from The Mist is fucking hilarious
Nice to see some things never change...
Bro, when you said "questions for you" I immediately started looking down to see what I wrote down.
Got me barkin like Pavlov's dog
Good dig taking notes 😆
"If you've stuck around this long my compliments to your attentions span." My favourite line in the video
Brilliant vid, thanks.
This video brings back great memories of my brief stint in the army in the 80s/90s cheers.
Emu Bob was also an actual emu at Kapooka in the 80s/90s that used to have free reign. He’d come on to the parade ground and peck at diggers doing drill.
That's very fun
He had a thing for slouch hats but not so much for Tabasco sauce sanga's out back of the mess.
😆😆😆
it seems like you actually did a fair bit of research, topics explained well in laymans terms. good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed amigo
54:38 the one war that was some what completely forgotten
As somebody that is apart of the AAC [Australian Army Cadets] I can say that doing emu bobs around Irwin Barracks or other places suck, mainly because if you have dumb recruits that think its a race and then your warrant officer would keep making us go back to restart. I have done them quite a few times and the best part is when you are finally done. But a clean place is better than a dirty place anyway just tell those people that its not a race, they would say to you "Go as fast as the worlds slowest man" to give you an idea that you dont go super slow but you dont go super fast.
Laughed all the way through, brings back great memories.
The lid lifter has to be my favourite as I would definitely be one if I were in the army.
True evil
