I used to live near Solo City. Back then when Jokowi was still a mayor, Solo was the envy of the surrounding cities. The little city had progressed significantly with its groundbreaking innovations and people-centered policies. Jokowi had helped to beautify the city by managing slums, restoring public monuments, and bringing the romance of the old sepur kluthuk (steam train) back to the city! Solo is a tiny place, so a little change could be felt so intensely. Jokowi really did work for the city.
But now we are talking about the gigantic, far and wide Indonesia. There're more complex problems ahead that need to be solved. I still believe in this humble man. I hope he has all the strength to make this country prosper :)
What I like about Jokowi is that he is creatively unpredictable. Sometimes he will act outstandingly and break the traditional rule. And proved to be a fluent politician by his policy. Congratulations Mr. President and may God be on your side.

Something westerners do not understand is that protests are sort of part of our culture in South East Asia...like it's not as big a deal as the host is trying to make it seem. In my country we literally protested once over something involving a big bread company changing their recipe to have loafs be baked with a different type of non enriched flour lol. Many Indonesians and myself are so grateful that God let Mr. Jokowi as our leader for one more term. This man really knows what he's doing, because he actually works. And he does it passionately because he loves Indonesia and its people. He envision the developed and prosperious society that is Indonesia, which is not just an empty promise. Cos he also encourages us, the people, to take part on that. To work better, smarter, and improve our personal quality, and also our surroundings, as well as to improve our ethics. In other words, mental revolution. And he leads by example and it gives us optimism to be better and better. He got very good stamina I'd say, every day with hectic schedule, but still energized. In summary, we are happy to have him as president, and hope that God always protect him.
