  • Built in 1864, Barmouth bridge is a grade ll listed 2960 ft long single track wooden viaduct crossing the river Mawddach estuary.
    Originally the viaduct had a drawbridge to allow tall ships to pass, this was replaced by a swing bridge between 1899 and 1902.
    Barmouth bridge has undergone several restorations over the years which resulted in the swing bridge section being disabled.
    The most recent and significant restoration was complete in late 2023 which saw the old swing section and track replaced.
