-Web, 2.0.5, Kongregate
Timing:
-Start on first frame when Main Menu fades after New Game is pressed (this can be seen with a program)
-End on first frame of the "Saved the world" medal or last cutscene (it's the same, since they appear at the same exact moment)
No medals?
I had to delete manually the Web Savefiles/Options/Medals files from my PC... I hope the developer of this game will make a "delete save" feature eventually :P (and "delete medals")
Obvious mistakes:
-Crystal Golem RNG'd killed me, but I also messed up the strat, normally I would use the slimy bunny before the second turn, but I forgot... I also did the same mistake in the second attempt, but I succeeded...always look to your strat before doing a run lol...
-I forgot the skip to the battery room twice and also messed up the battery placement, I think I lost about 30 seconds here. (Not that much considering you can lose up to 1 minute in some RNG battles)
RNG during the run:
Somehow, I've got a lot of luck in this run, which made me able to get a nice time.
Strategy:
There are really too many things to remember (127 lines to be exact), so I was scrolling the strategy during the run (you can see this in some battles)...next time I might write them somewhere else lol...
In general, I abused two mechanics, the Save/Reload refill (a small time saver to avoid the use of many MP items) and the Revenge skill power (this is the most broken thing, which allowed many things you can see in the run, like early bosses and things)... then the Damage=Heal Sword was literally the best thing, considering it avoided many Slime Bunny spam... lol
I'm pretty sure 1P is better than any configuration of 2P or more, because of the experience mechanic. When you level up only 1P you get full exp, while with every added one it gets divided (not exactly by 2 though, in fact you get 1/2 of total exp with 3P instead of 2P)... and Matt it's obviously the best choice because of the Sword and Revenge skill (faster, easier and safer than any other damage in the game).. the only bad thing of this is that you have to lose a turn each time by making your allies die... which becomes a bit boring after a while.

I used RTA, because there's no save after Godcat fight (Web version), so you can't see your final time... also I used the Save/Reload trick, so I needed to count the extra time for it.

Matt Roszak you should probably make thing little harder next game, even though this video is fun, but it kinda insult the strategists who spend time to plan and to win not to grind one character to one-shot everything, this just make the game look like a grinding and unfair game now I've just watch the video
I think the main problem is the experience oversight (not the difficulty of the game,it's very balanced if you play it will all the characters), since the exp you get by only one character left is 3x the normal one...
If the exp system gets fixed (normal exp for each player, instead of divided full exp for the whole team), this one-character grind speedrun wouldn't work at all (of course, revenge needs to be fixed as well, or nerfed i guess)
Well the Exp is like FF games, there is a certain amount of Exp gained per battle split between all alive party members. Also dead party members still gain ABP for some reason.
Long Phan Is this epic difficulty? If it is then I agree. If it's not, who cares about cheesing lower difficulties?
The mental image of Matt just dragging three dead bodies across the entire game world, occasionally stopping to steal things or hit things with his sword, amuses me to no end.

I did something like this once, but I played _both NG+ cycles_ as well. I didn't time it to the second, but I believe my save file showed something between 7 and 8 hours *for all 3 playthroughs!*
3rd cycle was as easy as taking a warp path straight to Godcat and I was able to defeat her without any grinding after the 2nd cycle because of the difficulty-based offensive stat multiplier being doubled for level 33+ enemies (leading to even further damage reduction on Easy).
The revenge thing makes the battles take painfully long :D

It’s been seven hours and I’ve only got onto Praetorian on Epic XD
To be fair, I like to take things slow rather than skip on everything to be honest
thats not horrible tbh, this is on easy mode, using this strat as fast as possible on epic would get u to like prob take 7 hours to beat. still quicker then u tho :c
7 hours is about how long I took to Praetorian too. (Also an epic 100%ish run.) Curious.

Hello! Fellow EBF4 speed runner here! Here's a little tip! Try picking up the sapphire giant to help on the stone golem fight! Saves a lot of time!
It might save time, but only if you get the blade on a higher level (which requires item)+RNG luck with all the red>yellow (means stun spawn) next...(so you need to hope for flood special attack as well) and it's not really worth it, because you need to upgrade the blood sword for later in the run + you also need the flood skill which might make revenge upgrade harder to get later (if you look, all the strategies used aims to the bloodsword, revenge and armor upgrades)
...and I messed up my strat in this run btw, I would have used slime bunny before hitting the golem to avoid stun, but nvm lol (I wanted to risk to avoid a few stun and it ended bad)

This isn't epic right? 70k damage one-shotting enemies in the final fight seems really weak from what I remember. Also the damage he takes is like nothing. I was getting insta-killed regularly in the end-game fights iirc.

Me has 91 defence and 107 evade on Matt: ok.
focus more on raising Matt than the other characters that I use very difficult the game with fighting with a single character
How did you speed up the animation? I’m trying to beat it in any time at all and I’m finding slow animations are my worst enemy. (I’m using the newgrounds version + their flash emulator)

With my hacking skills I was Able to finish it in around 34 min inf hp inf dmg and normal play about 2hrs and 29 min but I cheeked every monsters weeknest and watched this so yeah was able to finish it faster by 10 min problem is im lazy so i dint do mutch just auto mated it and control the character with keyboard :p but it took longer than it seems I tried 3 times on it so it took my whole day but ima kid 11 and in our school got suspended for a week bc of ncov corona virus hehe

Use lance's debiliate skill, really helps
You don't do that with solo Matt. A shame that Matt couldn't learn it.
It always takes at least one turn for all of your party members to perish. If you use Debilitate as Lance before he inevitably goes down it's still a good strategy.
The only thing is getting the AP to learn it and upgrade it for better results.
Also, I noticed a lot of weird choices during this run. It's a good proof of concept, but I wonder if sub 2:30 is possible.

Unfortunately, the Steam Version lags on my PC, so I decided to run the Web Version (look at my EBF3 speedrun)
