- I recently made a video where I went through two huge collections of comic books with some friends… but there was so much more that I missed! I head back and buy an entire long box full of comics out of this collection mostly sight unseen… but even at the bargain price of $50, did I even get my money’s worth?! The Action Comics Annual #1 that was shortly visible is an awesome Early Arthur Adams story! It's a stand alone story and pretty darn good! Also Elektra Assassin is a really good read.
Very cool grab. And no amount of comics are a waste of money as long as you enjoy them (no matter what some collectors out there try to tell us). X-Factor is a title I've never read much of, but I've enjoyed what I have read. I really should get more of those books. Great haul, Mike!

I got a large collection of the Nam and when I put it on eBay it was gone in a couple of hours. Great Michael Golden art.
I give the “old man grunt” at least twice a day. “Are there any comics I should throw away?” NEVER! Sell or give to young kids to get them started on comics, but NEVER “throw away.” Good Gads! 😂

For me, Simonson's Thor run is right up there with Byrne's FF and FM's Daredevil run. One of the best.
1st thing I noticed was the view I have never seen before.thank you for showing us a quick tour. All my comics are stored in long boxes in a cupboard 😂. Open door see them stacked, shut the door and tour done 😂😅😂😅
New Mutants run by Claremont is great. Definitely great a reading box for $50.00. You noted the Avengers issue with Jean Grey's cocoon. Be aware you showed the Fantastic Four follow up to the Avengers story where Jean Grey appears from the cocoon. Also, as a few commented if you haven't read the Simonson Thor run you have a few that can start you a new goal for that run. Definitely great reading.
Fantastic pickup for the price! You can sell those as lots of 9 or 10 in a Legal flat-rate envelope for under $10 shipping. Thanks for sharing! That was fun!

I loved the Xfactor series and subscribed to it with my local comic shop back in the day. Loved the Simonson art and the introduction of angel turning into archangel. Great stuff!

X-Men and Alpha Flight miniseries is one of my favorite stories of all time. That Action Comics with Batman is Art Adams I think. Barry Ween is pure genius.
That was a great pick up for only $50. You can bulk a lot of that out and triple your money.

I've recently assembled Byrne's run on Alpha Flight just to experience again how much fun the first 30-odd issues are. No high-grade copies, just decent readers - I won't be selling them this time so grade isn't so important.
I recommend reading Elektra: Assassin, great story and knockout Sienkiewicz art.
I had the complete run of The Nam, ended up selling them except for the Michael Golden-drawn issues and a few after he left, drawn by the very talented Wayne Vansant.
That Action Comics Annual is excellent, great story by John Byrne and Art Adams/Dick Giordano on art.
There's no such thing as a comic (or book or magazine) that's only good enough to throw away. If you don't have time to read the comics then there'll be others who will. And as for value, the box is definitely worth $50.
I was definitely joking about throwing any away, it was more of a “do you guys think any of these are terrible”
If you are going to read the runs, certainly it’s worth it. Probably more effort than worth it on the collecting side. Good video!

I am also collecting The Nam, Alpha Flight and Punisher. I think I saw an issue of MOM in your box, now that is an ok fun story to read, definitely something different. Also, the entire Alpha Flight is just a great read, I remember issue 31 being a fantastic read, and issue 32 is so much about Puck and why he is short, that story made me fall in love with Mr. Puck. I hope you very much enjoy those two story’s.

I know you said quality, not quantity Mike but sometimes a deal is a deal. What a great way to fill out runs or even start them that way! I totally think you got a good deal! quite a few good books in just the 3 Alpha Flight, New Mutants and X-Factor to add up to what you paid and the rest is free bonus. You got a great deal there Mike. I bought almost all those Marvel titles and Superman in the mid 80's. I loved the first twelve issues of the NAM. The Michael Golden art was beautiful. The boot camp part is really close to reality. I had just joined the Marines in early 82. I believe the Nam started in 82 as well. Some great Alpha Flights, New Mutants and X-Factor too. I remember I bought the NMs GN and all the Sal Buscema issues #1-#25? Same with X-Factor I never liked Apolklips myself. As well as Arch Angel that's when I stoped buying it. Loved Cloak & Dagger for the Rick Leonardi art too.I dug the Silver Age and Bronze Age much more myself. Nova, Godzilla, Rom Spaceknight etc. Happy Hunting for the rest of those New Muntants, etc.

The only reason I got into the Nam was the art work. I have the magizines, comics and trade paper backs.
For all intensive purposes, a box of comics is worth $50! Btw, when you mentioned your game room, dungeons and dragons,and guitars I was like Holy Cow...you have all the same hobbies as me!!!
That Iron Man issue with Ant-man on the cover is pretty sweet too

$50 for a long box of 80's comics is an absolute steal, if not for their monetary value then for their reading enjoyment! If you enjoy Daredevil, I highly recommend picking up the TPB for Elektra Assassin from which you have a couple of issues. Like Claremont & Miller's collaboration on Wolverine, Elektra Assassin is pure gold from the genius of Frank Miller and Bill Sienkiewicz. After reading it, I've been looking for the limited series. I'm also collecting the entire run of The New Mutants for more Sienkiewicz goodness. Great haul, Mike, and thanks for sharing!
I love finding a long box or two cheap. The best part is going through the box excited to find out if the next book is a big one or that one book you just can't find.

Hey Mike. For the price you bought, you can't go wrong. New Mutants and Alpha Flight are awesome . Anytime I lift one of my comic book boxes, I give grunt too lmao. Hopefully this week , I can find more comics. Keep on making good videos and finding some awesome comics.
You got an amazing deal. I need a friend like Mike. I am a X-Men fan, so those New Mutants, X-Factor, and Alpha Flight issues were worth it. I believe that Alpha Flight is Marvel's hidden gem. I also loved the multiple titles you had that were crossovers with the X-Men. I am not the biggest Spider-Man fan but I do enjoy a Night Thrasher appearance (New Warriors fan all day) and the anniversary covers were incredible. Well worth the $50. This was a fantastic haul.

Pretty much ANY comics for $50 long box is great, even & $100 a long box is a fantastic deal, unless they are all water damaged lol… why someone would sell a long box for $50 is crazy like twenty cents a comic…I’ll buy it from you for $60. 😅
You got a great deal. I collected that night crawler this year myself. I would say the anniversary issues of the heads were my favorites that you showed. I bet if a person put half a dozen of the anniversary heads on a plaque and took them to a flea market it would sell really well, just guessing.

That's a great deal! Completing the run of The New Mutants is a goal for me this year, as well. I have 71 issues but I know I'm going to have to shell out a few bucks for a 98. Great video as always, man!

Michael Golden art in the Nam is awesome the 1st 25 to 30 issues are great ... the trades are a great way to catch up on chunks at a time.

That's awesome you got all that Alpha Flight and New Mutants! I'm only missing like 11-60 of New Mutants. Alpha Flight I only have around 10 books or so. Better get insurance for your comics, a lot of them have value. But I sure hope you can make your home fire proof.
A good percentage of TNM's for 20 cents a piece is a phenomenal deal!

Recently bought a long box from a total stranger I met through a friend . Slightly higher in price than yours but had a bunch of keys. Funny enough I'm a Marvel fan through and through but he had one almost complete run of vigilante. So when I heard you say vigilante I took a double take to see if that was one I was missing lol.
Worth it for the Alpha Flight alone, but a ton of other real cool stuff.
So I've been watching a lot of comic channels lately and I am very very surprised no one has mentioned anything about upper deck epack having comics now. I would love to hear your thoughts and maybe a review on it.
Very jealous of that New Mutants haul, one of my goals this year is to complete that run also. Its going to be a stretch as I have about 40 issues to go. Great Great pick up Mike.

Just bought my first issue of Deadman upon Mike's recommendations looked up his first ever appearance and after what I paid for shang chi,s first appearance let's just say I need to slow down and leave it there haha.

They are just vinyl wall panel moulding you can get at most retail hardware stores. They are meant to hold panels together put they fit comics nice if you use a bagged and boarded one as a spacer

Those are the only ones I’ve owned but I’ve played Fortress America
Yeah Fortress America is fun to play. Conquest of the Empire is a six player game but one person is knocked out by the fifth turn every time. It is a great four player game. It s funny that Broadsides and Boarding parties is the most sought after of the five games and my least favorite to play. Then there is Crossed Swords or Shogun, same game, probably my favorite to play. Great replay value. 😃👍🐳
I don t know they felt the need to release Shogun as Samurai Swords and then Crossed Swords, the only difference was the box picture and title. Also for all you strategy gamers, Hero Quest was rereleased in 2023 again. They said that thirty seven years was a long enough wait. Of course I heard about it after it was on the store shelves. They also released all of the satellite games as well. Get em while you can. I have not played it yet, I m still waiting for a truckload of gamers to break down outside my house. 😃👍🐳
