Really nice teaching! Learned some nice stuff! Definitely a follower now!
I've been playing 40 years and I have to honestly say that was the best demonstration of mixing up Maj / Min hands down 👍
Glad to hear it!
I have to agree, I have here been playing since 85; he has a good way of teaching without playing super-simple licks
Dude ...when u started "calling out" your thought process at 13:00 mins, I was like"OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH, I GET IT NOW !!!!" totally a lightbulb moment.
Combining position 1 of minor pentatonic with position 1 of major pentatonic blew my mind for some reason. I always thought of it as playing one or the other. Def a lightbulb moment for me, Corey! Thank you! 🙏🏽
Glad it helped!
Spent over 2 hours searching for this topic, whatch loads of videos. Yours are the best of all!! Thanks, Corey :)
Wow thx!
The single, best, clearest explanation of this concept on CZcams, A thousand thank yous bro. 😊
My pleasure. Thank you so much
I find the way you call out as you play so valuable in your teaching method,
Happy to hear that!
I've been playing for nearly 20 years (I should be way better) and your channel is really motivating me to go back to basics and switch up my playing/ give me a proper order to what I need to learn which is think is often overlooked. I have improved so much in the last week and playing blues is fun again!! thanks!!
That’s great to hear!
I totally share your sentiment, brother.
I've never got mixing major and minor until this lesson. You broke it down in a way that was finally easy for me to hear and understand.
That’s great to hear!
I have always struggled combining the two and after this lesson I think I may have finally figured it out. Thank you Corey! Hands down one of the best youtube guitar teachers.
Fantastic!
Same here. Quality teaching!
I've always done this by ear and it's worked, but I had no idea why until your, and your colleagues, instruction this past year. Thank you!
My pleasure, Sam!
Thank you so much for this best lesson for helping my mind to understand how to mix minor and major.
"In A Sentimental Mood" is a great example of your lesson.
that was so ME at 16:00, thank you Corry for the lesson really appreciate it. Now it make sense
Glad to hear it!
Just broke my wrist today while skating with my third daughter...cannot play guitar, my mind is in minor mode..but, watching Corey makes my evening , here in France, in a fresh and MAJOR HAPPY MODE ! Thanks a lot Corey for sharing all those awesome lesson and secrets ! Your are the best 🥰👍 ! Kindest regards from France. Bélo
Awe man. Get well soon!
@@coreycongilio , thanks a lot 🎸🥰
dude you're the best teacher I've ever come across on CZcams, and I've watched ALOT of guitar videos!
Simplifying a concept that, when learned, brings great satisfaction to players of all levels. Genius!!!
Another great lesson @coreycongilio ! Much appreciated!
You’re an amazing player and have a knack for teaching. Thanks to this lesson I have a whole new 12 bar blues I can use !!
i love your no messing teaching ,straight to it ,no waffle thank you
GOLD Lesson!
Finally someone explains how this works in fantastic detail, thanks so much!
been playing for about 2 years now and you have literally "allowed" me to sound like I've been playing for 7 years! you're a great teacher brother Corey 🙏 🙏
Thx Robert! Best of luck!
That maj on I, minor on IV etc approach is a bit of gold. Thanks.
Simply awesome.
Also for those who are unaware, the step and a half trick is also how you know what chords are in what key. Amaj for example A D E (1-4-5) are the major chords, step and a half down same shape f# b c# (6-2-3) are the minors and one step up from your 6 is your 7th, in this case g#°
Getting a lot of mileage out of your YT content and TrueFire (I'm an all access member there). Keep it up, you have a natural gift for teaching.
Much appreciated!
Great lesson with excellent examples, Corey!
Helpful when you call out what you’ve changed to over the progression. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Thank you thank you I have been trying to play major and minor for so long . This explanation helped a lot.
So I have seen more than one lesson about this.....but this one puts it into something I feel I can really use. Thanks for making this work!!
Great to hear
Thanks Corey!
Wow man! This is gold. I learn so much here. Thank you!!!
I can't understand exactly what you're explaining. (Korean)
But I try to take your lessons as often as possible. It really works.
You are the best teacher for me.
Really appreciate of you.
🙏🏻
Before being a Professional guitar player Corey, you were a beginner, intermadiate until the holy graal : a Pro !! That's why you know all the questioning, hesitations, failures, mistakes in knowlegde and understanding; and that's why you can answer to all theses questions so well ! You really are THE MAN Corey ! You inspire me, give me motivation to go ahead. Thanks for all ;-)
Really appreciate that
Man I just had a light Bulb moment after 50 years of playing. Thanx Cory for this lesson specifically!
Thank you!!! Fantastic!!!
I’ve watched a few other lessons on this and that was by far the best lesson on mixing major/minor scales, thanks 🙏
Brilliant. I love the teaching.
Very talented 🙏
I loved the demonstration of which scale over which chord and which note to start a lick on. What a great reminder. Thanks again, Corey. Great jam track, too.
CAGED rules!
Great lesson! Thank you
I've seen this, and done it myself for a while, but hard to get to sound quite as sweet as you make it sound. I think it's changing major to minor and back again on the chord changes that makes the difference...great video, thanks!
I always find it hard to make Major sound "bluesy". It has a different feel to it that is very obvious in a way. But hearing you use it I got the impression that the way you phrase it is vital to make it work; and also blending it with the minor sound is a nice way to make it work for the overall effect of the sound in a song.
Another great lesson Corey! I have always struggled with mixing major and minor and I think I finally understand it now.
Nice, Jim! That’s great!
Great lesson Corey!! Thank you!
This is a great lesson! Great walk through of what your plan is, seeing you execute that plan, and then breaking it down as you played. Well done Corey! Thank you for breaking this down in this form. I Have really enjoyed your lessons the last few weeks.
Thanks so much!
very good lesson and here's why, even knowing the pent.scales inside/out, I now have a clearer picture of what to use on what chord and why.. look forwards to learning more.. Thanks
On the road today - Nashville bound - but always have time to drop in and check out what Corey’s layin’ down. Love these lessons! Keep ‘em comin’, Corey! ✌️
Such a good lesson! I feel like I have such a better understanding of a lot of the blues playing I love, thanks
Glad you enjoyed
Genius, Corey. Many thanks.
My pleasure!
I was going to write something disparaging like "Oh, great! Yet another pentatonic demonstration - like we haven't already got a million of those on CZcams already!" But I decided to stick with it, and I'm glad I did, because the way that you mix up the major and minor pentatonics is an interesting slant. Thanks for doing something different to the the rest (of the million pentatonic demos).
Well thx for hangin in there! Lots more where that came from!
another amazing lesson....unlocking more secrets for me. Thanks Corey!
Gran Lección GRACIAS
Thanks Corey ! Think I finally got round to practically grasping the idea of mixing Major and Minor having read about it before. Good explanations at a good pace..👍🏼👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed!
Great explanations and teaching, thank you for these lessons. You make things clearer to me than most other instructors can offer. I did like the "calling out" of the major or minor while playing- super helpful to see and hear simultaneously.
Hey! My pleasure!
I really enjoy your teaching style. Thanks for a cool lesson. Yes it is a simple thing been doing for years but never thought of it like this. You can get good at flubbing around and just making it all fit, especially if you have learned a bunch of licks from great players that are already doing this, but it is refreshing to actually separate what is happening. Keep up the great work!
Appreciate that
Another amazing lesson, very helpful to nail down the basics! Wow... these lessons are so enjoying to take up, many thanks!
My pleasure!
Corey. Love your work! Great lesson on this essential topic. Rock on !

Love love LOVE this kind of more beginner based lesson! Thanks, Corey, you make a difficult topic seem so much easier :P Time to grab my guitar and try this stuff!
Glad you enjoyed!
Great session man.
🙌 hands down .. finally I came to understand how mix major and minor pentatonic by ur lesson..You made it crystal clear ...
I’m glad to hear that!
Corey! Epic lesson! I’ve studied the positions and understood the M/m connection but never knew how to mix them. I’m starting to see those overhead projector layers! Thanks, man. Good tempo, just enough to have to reach for it but totally accessible (even though I had to back up like 9 times). This will be my new practice routine ✊🏻💡
I come here because you have a knack to fill in the gaps in my knowledge! Thank you!
Thx so much!
❤ beautiful arpeggios
Dude you are a great player, but a fantastic teacher.
Appreciate that!
Great lesson. Helped me a lot! Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Great lesson Corey! Thank you!🙏💕😎
Sure thing!
If you want to hear a masterclass in mixing major and minor check out Clapton's version of Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight. Seriously incredible how well he can do it.
Another great lesson.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks!! So helpful
You're welcome!
So Great....
Amazing lesson as always!

Thanks Corey for another great lesson! Now the trick is to also mix in those wonderful arpeggios you've been teaching us too :-)

So I started electric guitar late in life and have spent the last 2.5 years focusing on theory. THIS LESSON will be my holy grail!! This is what I’m striving for to be a happy at home player. Thanks Corey. Your channel is the one I will have ALL NOTIFICATIONS on my settings.
Wow, thanks so much!
Great job!
Thanks!

I'll look him up after this tutorial ...Roland J Gutierrez from Magdalena New Mexico USA 🇺🇸

You're most welcome
Thankyou Cory for this type of lesson, this is something that I have been struggling with , this is very helpful. !!!
My pleasure!
Thanks Corey , you’re awesome
My pleasure!
Fantastic.. your playing through the changes and calling out the scales was really helpful and inspiring. You made it look so easy and clean but I know there is some serious practice ahead. Your teaching and playing style was easy, clear and engaging ... thanks, a lot learned in this video...
Glad it was helpful!
THIS is how i want to be able to play. SO jazzin' cool!
Awesome...love the way you teach. More of combining major and minor.
Thx so much!
@@coreycongilio oh and I meant to say...please 👍🏻..very rude of me..
WOW ! What a lesson. You made me look in to playing my three chords all on the fifth fret, and solo all in that one position. Then I started changing to all minor scales as to each chord change. The same with the major scales following each chord. Combined all that together and WOW,a whole new world, the light shines a little brighter. Thanks again Corey!!!
Nice! Glad it helped!
Great lesson!
Thanks! 😃
i was always confused on which to play over the 1 and 4 chords major or minor so this video helped. thank you..🎸🎶👍
Glad it helped!
I'm embarrassed to say how long I've been playing the blues without mastering this. Excellent lesson man. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
