The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Selection Sunday... The Good: Notre Dame - Got hot at the end of the season. Players like Hildago are very dangerous in the NCAA Tournament Tennessee - Ranked around 30th in the nation, were able to get a 6th seed. Would not be shocked to see Rickea Jackson pull a Carnelo Anthony and make a Final Four run Arizona - They were billed as a flashy, guard-heavy offense, but morphed into a defensive juggernaut. The Bad: Texas - Getting a #1 Seed over Stanford. The Pac-12 had once of the best conference performances of the decade. West Coast Bias largely prevented Stanford from getting a #1 seed (Imho) Iowa State - Went on a nice run at the end. Deserved a #6 seed and got bumped to #7. That Maryland matchup is a nightmare. They don't have the athletes to keep pace with Maryland. They are able to slow the game down with Crooks and their methodical style but need to avoid a footrace the Terrapins. The Ugly: Gonzaga - I thought FOR SURE a loss in the WCC Tournament would drop them to a 5th seed. I don't know what that was about. I remember the Gonzaga Men being ranked 6th in the country and then receiving a 6th Seed some years ago. I am lost. And Utah got screwed. They should be a host team. Utah has the best player out of all the 5th seeds. Gonzaga, head to head vs. Utah would be a 7 point underdog. That was terrible.
That Albany 2 bracket is brutal. The committee really screwed up by putting too many final four contenders in the same bracket. Iowa will have the toughest road to the final four of any of the one seeds, by far.
