Incredible Results from my Cosmelan Peel to Treat my Melasma | Over 40 Skincare

- Today on Beauty Beyond 40, FINALLY my full update about my latest Cosmelan peel I got in December 2023! The Cosmelan peel is a depigmentation peel and it obliterated ALL of my melasma and hyperpigmentation.

A couple producst that weren't included in my video are Farmacy's Honey Halo, which I discovered later on and LOVE! I used up the WHOLE JAR, which is rare since I have so many products. That's on the list AND my Iris & Romeo tinted SPF50 is amazing, but I didn't use it until later on since it has vitamin C in it and I didn't want to risk irritating my skin. I use it ALL the time now and am on my second tube! It's also on the list. It comes in 2 shades: normal and glow which is a bit darker. I love everything from Iris & Romeo and they just launched at Sephora.

I have tried Musely hydroquinone and posted a video here on CZcams if you want to see that the results were nowhere near as good as this Cosmelan peel. This peel is the best thing I’ve ever tried for my melasma. I don’t see why you couldn’t get it on your chest and shoulders - but I think it would be really hard to apply the home peel in those areas for the whole time during the colder months. The peel is orange and would rub off and stain your clothes. I would ask the professional about this to see what they say.
Thanks so much for the video! It is so helpful! I was curious since you received two professional applications (30 days apart), does it mean you purchased two packs of cosmelan systems? Or was one jar of cosmelan 1 enough for both applications? The local beauty place I went to told me their cosmelan treatment only consists of one office visit and then I will need to do the rest on my own, which means they won’t even do a spot treatment after the initial application.
You get only one home kit for the entire process. I would find a place that offers 2 professional peels. Both places I went offered this, so I thought it was the norm.
Is this the Cosmelan MD version peel with hydroquinone?
Hi Trina. I looked up cosmelan peels by me & there are a couple of places that offer Enlighten. The process looks almost similar to Cosmelan but I have to do more research. Have you heard of Enlighten? Your results are amazing. I want to do this. Yes. Devices do not help. I have tried many as well as HQ. I always wear hats & sunscreen but getting rid of certain spots is totally impossible
I have not heard of Enlighten. Perhaps you can call to ask them the difference and then do your own research to compare?

Your skin looks beautiful! My question is, for home care, do you put Cosmelan 2 and sunscreen over it during the day? Do you put anything else? Also, does the pillow case get dirty from the Cosmelan2?
Thank you! No, I don’t use anything else - just the Cosmelan 2 and sunscreen. Yes your pillowcase can get dirty so you can put down a towel if needed or change your pillowcase frequently.

I find it odd that their products have a fragrance in them. That is exactly what the skin does not need when doing a peel. The company should look into this and make a change

Have you seen Susan Yara’s cosmelan peel video this past week? I’m so confused about the 30 days of Step 2 …how brown/orange the peel is and how in the world you can apply it throughout the day and look even halfway normal!? I’m usually really good about “after care” but I could never use that Step 2! Did you thin it out with cream or just dealt with it?
I didn’t see her video. I didn’t have any issues with my face looking orange. Maybe because it also looked like a glazed donut and I was wearing a shield outside? I don’t remember it being an issue at all
So you look possibly look orange for a month after? I work. Not sure I can do this. It's being recommended by my dermatologist.
I remember you saying in another video that you used the Lyma laser every day for 3 months and then several times a week for maintenance. Hyperpigmentation is one of my issues. Did Lyma help with that issue at all? I have used the laser every day for an hour at least for over 2 months and so far, no change. I also have wrinkles, which you do not have. I enjoy watching your videos.
Yes, LYMA helps with melasma and hyperpigmentation, but only a little bit.
How do you compare this with the Musely spot peel?

Hi Trina I have everything you have but I’m not owning it , just trying to get rid of it 🤷🏽♀️… so I looked up the peel and it’s being sold for about 500$ ,. In your opinion is it best to go to to an esthetician? Or could I do this myself?
The professional level peel is $500 and you can buy it yourself as a non-professional and apply it to yourself? In the US? How?

@bbag7378 But how are they selling to you without verifying your professional license? I would NOT recommend doing this. You could damage your skin. This peel is strong!
We went to our esthetician place, got to talking about melasma and they mention getting Cosmelan. She told us they have a client who found this whole kit online and it was legit!! So I know you can buy this kit for at home (I've heard eBay) but you do have to be careful thru who you buy it from as some will have step 1 cream but others will only have step 2 cream and the price is about what your saying ($500). There are CZcams videos from estheticians who show how to do this at home. There are also videos on CZcams of people who have bought the kit to do at home. You just have to really research it or just go to a professional its really up to you. Good Luck.
I was surprised when you mentioned the steps with a professional because when I saw the name Cosmelan, I Google it, before watching the video. I saw one kit for $400
You're the 1st person I've seen that says the peel is done twice... I'm about to have mine and its only one peel with a 5min pre peel 2 days prior
Both times I went, there were 2 professional peels - years apart at different places.
Don’t forget that melasma is not only triggered by heat-it can be triggered by fluctuation in hormones.
Yes BUT I’m on steady hormones in perimenopause so not sure mine fluctuate much? I don’t get my period anymore 🤷♀️ really not sure. could be a factor for others though?
I wish I could use this peel too, but it’s not good for olive or brown skin unfortunately

Gosh the down time seems horrible though. Apply 3x a day for the first 30 days? So you need to stay home and not see anyone for a long time because you can’t wear makeup for quite some time. And I don’t let anyone see me without makeup besides my immediate family and kids obviously. This is depressing. Melasma is debilitating. I wish insurance would cover it especially for hormonal melasma since it’s a medical condition. 😢
I let everyone see me and went about my life normally and wore my shield everywhere. I didn't mind it too much. If you don't want anyone to see you like that, then I agree it would be too hard. Melasma is so rough. :(
@@beautybeyond40 Your results are great. But my melasma is worse than yours. I’ve done 4 treatments of PiQ04 laser and 1 ZO 3 step chemical peel. I wish I had used all that money towards a Cosmelan or Dermelan peel instead as everything I’ve tried has barely touched my melasma. I feel like I’ve wasted all my money. I appreciate you sharing your journey.
