I grew up with the Corries and watched them live whenever I could, and there's no doubt in my mind that they're the best folk group ever and one I'll never tire of listening to even if it does bring a lump to my throat at times. Roy's premature death was a national tragedy.
Can't believe I missed this on YT up to now, despite the fact that my Corries playlists is probably one of the most extensive. I have it on CD and listen to it all the time!

its not a 28 string guitar. that was a different instrument. the sitar sound comes from the 13 sympathetic strings mounted above the guitar neck on roys combolin. incidently, thay are indeed sitar strings. his is also a bandurria, not a mandolin. ronnies has a mandolin on it.
I'm not sure if it's meant to be Flora = flower = best of Scotland's youth or simply Flora MacDonald, the woman who helped Charlie escape to Skye. Works both ways really, but to be honest I'd go for it being Flora MacDonald since the song refers to "Born here the lassie / To guide our prince free".

I totally agree. Their live shows were brilliant and I'll never tire of listening to them. Likewise their music often makes me weep.
