  • Sample scene from The Dictator movie. Brilliant speech criticizing american policies.
One of the world's most controversial leaders, General Aladeen
The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.

A system based on 51% majority is point in fact a form of dictatorship. Its 51% dictating over the other 49%. A true democracy can only exist when a super majority is required to pass laws. Also, in a true democracy all laws would have expiration dates to prevent one generation from dictating over another.

Whatever number you pick, someone who picks that number + 1 could argue against yours using your own argument. If you think 70%, what do you say to someone who says “a system based on 70% majority is a dictatorship. A true democracy is when a supermajority of 75% passes laws”?

@@lilmane1070 The fact that you are concerned with what one person thinks the number should be out of 100s of millions indicates that you don't understand what democracy is. You can easily argue between say 75% and 90%, but 51% is by no means a consensus by a long shot. Deciding on what constitutes a consensus, which is what would be needed to call it a democracy, you could simply have every person vote with a number between 51% and 100%. Take an average. Then, and only then might you have a democracy. I would bet my life on it that the number would be way higher than 51%

America is worse. With a traditional dictatorship at least you know exactly who's in charge the dictator and his cronies usually all wear uniforms. In America the politicians are puppets for rule by the shadows.
A truly powerful man would not want to be like a dictator because ultimately a dictator is not the most powerful thing. A dictator cant just go wander around as he pleases without a armed escort and even in the rare case where a dictator doesnt fear assassination he cant just walk around without people noticing him and treating him differently. Dictators for the most part always fear loss of power which is why they often implement desperate measures like harsh punishments for the most tame of jokes about them.
True power is to have someone else act in public as the "leader" and to be so obscure and unknown that you can just walk around anywhere in the country unnoticed and even better if you implement policies that end up angering the people too much to the point of revolt you can have the public leadership figurehead blamed, orchestrate a change in who the public sees as "in charge" and keep on ruling with nobody any the wiser. In fact you might just want to skip the whole revolt thing change out the public face of leadership on a routine schedule and hell even let the people think that they get a direct say in who the leader is.
The most powerful people who truly rule America will never be known. An average American could have walked past them on the street and not even been aware of it. That is true power.

A republic allows for the minority to have an equal vote regardless of population (through our states). We are not both. We are a Republic.

A 51% majority based decision model ensures that country is always divided down the middle which allows a small group to control the masses by swaying one or two votes. In a true democracy, no law would pass without 100% agreement. True democracies don't and can not exist on large scale, only in smaller groups. Globalization is the true enemy to democracy.
