    This video was the number one reason for my decision to purchase a Fleming 65. Now all I need to do is win the lottery to pay for it.

    I love the sound of the engines in the background. When you're out in shitty weather, or idling along in heavy rain, that sound is the aural equivalent of a nice fireplace.

    I grew up on the Shores of the Chesapeake Bay, two blocks West of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel,
    and know how violent the Bay can become in a matter of minutes.
    The Fleming IS the right boat for ANY condition.

    No dramas there, she’s travelling beautifully. Take a MUCH bigger sea than that to worry the old girl. I live for rough weather. Nice video, cheers.

    The 65 Fleming uses American Bow Thruster stabilizers that have 9sq ft. fins with winglets. Forward windshields are tempered 9mm thick glass.

      ABT is just the name of the company - they started out in Bow Thrusters and diversified, a bit like Sidepower who have just rebranded their company as Sleipner (the name of their parent co)

    I spent 22 years on the Chesapeake in every type of boat both power & sail
    It is one of the greatest places on earth & should be treated with the utmost respect
    It's weather conditions can change in minutes & it will kill you

    Reminds me of the time we had to head back to port in our Ranger Tug 27. The waves were much taller, actually so tall that we had to take care to head into them directly.

      I don't know where you boat, but here on planet earth it takes time and distance for a sea state to build. I've had the anemometer showing wind like this with only a 3 foot chop because of lack of fetch. Ever notice how smaller lakes seem to avoid the perils of 30' seas despite strong winds?

    51 Knots? You have to be kidding. No waves with breaking crests. Have you ever been out at sea in a Gale in a power boat? Looks like close to shore protected by the shoreline.

    • @cakemoss4664
      @cakemoss4664 Před 3 lety +1

      Not really. You're safer in a sailing boat if you reduce sail in time. It has a proper keel for one thing and you are not relying on a motor! Also here I see a lot of wind but the waves are small.

    • @ictpilot
      @ictpilot Před 3 lety

      @@cakemoss4664 I don't know about safer, rather be out there in a Nordhavn. Nice and dry and Nordhavns don't care much about the winds and waves.

      @@ictpilot Nordhavn is good! But a sailing vessel has two forms of energy to draw on - wind and fuel. In my book it's intrinsically safer, though maybe wetter.

    You hear wind due to bad insulation / gaps
