    Re-revisiting the Railgun after its recent buffs - I'm not going to oversell it, it's a far cry from the broken OP state it was on release, but it's also in a much better state than you'd think reading through some of the doom and gloom online. The recent penetration buff means that you no longer need to fully charge the Railgun to take out a Charger head with 3 unsafe shots, or strip the leg with 2 shots; Heavy Devastator shields can be penetrated too now, giving it a brute force option where an AMR might need to headshot hunt.
    I think the mistake most people make is to compare the Railgun with the Anti-Tank Specialists i.e. the Recoiless Rifle, EATs, and Quasar. Those weapons are intended solely for heavy targets, so for bugs that's Chargers, Bile Titans and some structures - they lack either the ammo, firerate, or recharge rate to deal with anything but the Highest Value Targets, but to offset that they can take out those targets the fasetset, one-shotting Chargers with a headshot.
    That's not what the Railgun's role is though, as it's much closer in role to generalist weapons like the Autocannon, that have the damage and ammunition to take on medium armour enemies but can also solo Chargers (though not quite as fast as the AT specialists), and even finish off Titans that have taken a hit from a stratagem. Compared vs the Autocannon, it compares very favourably, one-headshotting every medium enemy (including the pesky Bile Spewers), and arguably killing Chargers even faster given you can engage at distance from the front without having to matador. Yes, you have to have better aim and manage that chargeup well - but that's a fair tradeoff for the extra mobility, I feel.

    Build:
    Mixing things up and splitting the themes to my build this time with a Railcannon Strike to accompany my Railgun, and Incendiary Mines to match my incendiary Breaker. Especially with the extra throwing distance on my armour, I can yeet my Railcannon Strike to take out any heavy enemies chasing down my teammates at ranges too far for a neat Railgun kill - meanwhile the Incendiary Mines do a good job of taking out light enemy swarms. With the 500kg as my only Eagle Stratagem, that ensures I start the cooldown as soon as it's ready, which will be crucial as my first option vs Bile Titans.
    Railgun is my go-to for anything medium armour and up - for Chargers, I prefer the 3-headshot kill, but I think there's an argument for going for the legs instead if you're not the one with aggro. There's nothing more frustrating than chasing a Charger's face while it's constantly turning away from you - with the legs you can still get the kill in if it's not facing you.
    Trying out the new pistol as well, and it feels good - lying somewhere in between the Senator and the Peacemaker, it has good stopping power, one shotting most of the smaller enemies and with a snappy firerate and reload. The new Incendiary Impact nades are pretty nice as well, useful for chucking at crowds to deal with the smaller guys while you start lining up your Railgun shots - they can still be used for Bug Holes too, just make sure to adjust your aim as with the Impact grenades.

    I also have those stun grenade habits baked into me. I noticed you had a habit of calling in an eagle strike, and then throw in the impact incendiary afterwards like it was going to stun them in place. I keep doing that same thing.

    I absolutely agree that the railgun is in a much better place than it was, at least on the bug front, but I still feel that it needs some work, especially against the clankers. The main problem I have with the railgun is that it lacks the structure damage to really fill the heavy-hitting generalist role that it feels like it should fill. It’s utterly helpless against gunships, tanks, and factory striders, all of which you absolutely need an answer to when fighting the bots. I also feel that it needs a better scope, preferably a slightly modified liberator scope, and much more projectile velocity. Needing to lead shots with a railgun sucks. Honestly, I’d be fine with the devs making the railgun a hit scan, because that would make sense for a hypersonic metal rod. I’ve listed a series of break points that I’d like the railgun to hit on other videos, so I’ll include just the important ones here. The format I’ll be using for charge levels is as follows: Full/90% | Unsafe/70% | Safe. For gunship engines, I think 1 | 2 | 3 is reasonable. For tank vents and emplacements, 2 | 3 | 4. Strider heads, 3 | 5 | 6. Strider bellies, 4 | 5 | 7. The railgun should be just stronger than weapons like the AMR, because that’s what it should get in exchange for that risky charge system and only having 21 rounds. It’s meant to be high risk high reward, but on the bot front it’s high risk negative reward because of its complete inability to deal with the automaton constructs.

      Those breakpoints sound reasonable, only one I'm less familiar with is the Strider Heads. I don't think Tanks and Factory Striders are too big of a deal as they're infrequent enough to deal with via strats alone if we have to, but gunships definitely should be manageable. Saying that, I did have to kill some earlier today and it didn't seem unfeasible, I think reducing the shots to kill by one or two would be nice though

      @@newspiked7385gunships go down to 4 fully charged shots to an engine iirc, which is already ridiculous, and is even worse when you take the railgun’s unusually slow projectile velocity into account. Gunships are the main reason I want the railgun to have higher projectile velocity and a better sight.

      100% agree.
      Your breakpoints for amount of shots for each target is NEEDED cause right now it is WAY too high.
      Needing 4 shots to the engine to take down a gunship when the AMR is about the same???
      Railgun is still really bad right now.
      It needs a bit more damage in unsafe mode in general and as you said a bit more of a boost at 90% to reward those who really want to teeter on that line.
      The AMR and Laser Cannon shouldn't be just strictly better for everything that isnt a hulk.
      Including their ability to handle far more medium enemies.
      Give it enough to actually deal with gunships in 1 maybe 2, 70% shots and factory striders in a reasonable timeframe and whatnot and it'll be in at least a decent spot.

      I've started running the railgun for the bots and currently make up for its lack of gunship/tank/factory strider by using the scorcher for tanks and gunships and just hoping and praying I don't fight Factory striders but if I do hope I have airstrikes available

      Thanks! I just try and make sure the loadout is pretty balanced, if one weapon has a weakness then another weapon / strat covers that weakness.
      I haven't tried the Purifier yet, which I think has attracted most of the disappointment, but I've messed around with everything else. Pummeller and Verdict feel good, I think most people are fans. Tenderizer doesn't really have anything to offer vs bugs over the basic Liberator, but I do think its low recoil makes it better for headshotting bots. Impact fire nades are nice, nothing drastically different but they have that molotov feel of instantly igniting.

    I'd love to see you play Railgun against Automatons. I love my Autocannon, but I am looking for alternatives just to switch up my games a little, if the Railgun can fill those shoes adequately, I'll use it too.

    I see you gave the incendiary impact grenades a try. They're pretty neat, but I just can't turn back from my stun grenades, lol!
    That being said, I did hear people get good results out of them when mixed with the obital gas strike and the pummeler SMG to keep enemies still. I might have to try that sometime. 🤔

    this game is so simple with 4 players. the patrol increase makes solo play miserable now, unless you turn the difficulty way down to 5-7.

    I wish the railgun was good 😭
    Im sure majority of people agree its still not good especially vs bots.
    Imo it just needs a bit more damage so it can be on par with AMR and Laser Cannon when it comes to taking down Gunships and Factory Striders and whatnot.
    Of course it has was less ammo so it wont be able to take out as much as they will be able to so theyll still have valuable benefits to take them. Not to mention they can deal with far more medium enemies.
    But yeah. Really hoping they give it a bit more damage cause its so close to being in a good spot but still bad sadly.

      I think it's still good :P For bugs especially, I don't think there's much more they can push it in terms of breakpoints. It's currently a 3-shot to the head, if it could 2-shot Charger heads I don't think anyone would touch RR, Quasar, EATs again, those 2-shots are incredibly easy and sustainable with the fast, mobile reload.
      For bots, I can definitely see some room for buffs vs Gunships simply because they're the one unit you wouldn't expect someone to bring a dedicated strat for, but I don't know what combination of penetration / base damage they'd have to match to make that buff. It's already really good vs Hulks and everything below, for what that's worth, and that's the vast majority of what you'd expect to have to fight with your support weapon alone.

      The railgun is legit useless vs bile titans unlike the RR, Quasar and EATS.
      Its bad vs both factions.
      The thing is even if the railgun could kill bile titans in 6 or 7 unsafe shots. That's still half your ammo plus proper anti tank is still way better and way more safe.
      2 EAT shots is extreme fast for it, RR with the animation cancel is ~4 seconds between the 2 shots and Quasar has the benefit of infinite ammo and not needing to stop to reload+ no backpack, etc.
      The sheer amount of damage they put out is still immense and extraordinarily useful especially when used in tandem with strategems.
      Anti tank would still be VERY useful even with the railgun being able to 2 shot chargers for instance.
      And would still kill bile titans way faster + in a way safer manner.
      This change would just allow the railgun to actually be used and increase the viable diversity.
      Not to mention even if you have 2 people on your team with railguns vs 2 people with RR,Quasar or what have you. Those 2 people with RR/Quasars will kill bile titans WAY faster(effectively immediately). as opposed to railguns taking a while due to needing so many shots and reloading between each shot.
      I dont think there's a reasonable logical argument that makes sense to say it would invalidate anti tank.
      It by no means would.

      @@TheCosmicAstro- If someone has hit the bile titan in the dome with a EAT or Quasar, the railgun can finish it off with just two 90% charged shots (also to the dome). While it takes like 10 on it's own, which is a lot, it's good for finishing them off. So, it's far from useless. It's in a good place right now, I feel. I've been enjoying using it again.

      I can kill a bile titan with my grenade pistol.
      I need to hit it with a railcannon strike first but then I can destroy the sacks with the grenade pistol and it kills it. That's means the grenade pistol is amazing at killing bile titans right?

      @@InvaderTroy it takes 18 seconds cooldown between shots and you can also take out your primary in the meantime. If you watched the video, Spiked had to land at least 3-4 shots until he took one charger down. To each his own I guess

      Imo, those 3-4 shots are still pretty quick. If you had 2 chargers, you might even kill both faster with a Railgun than a Quasar, though with the Quasar you'd be able to focus trash in between those 2 kills. That and the ability to take out mediums quickly feels like a fair tradeoff. But to each their own!

      Honestly if you get good at it it fits a nice niche to deal with chargers, give guards, and brood commanders. Honestly I'm liking it more than Quasar lately.

      Not sure which situation you mean exactly, but once my personal ammo stocks are full, it doesn't really matter whether I load up my backpack or leave it for them to pick up themselves, there's nothing being saved. If I have room in my pack, I just pick it up anyway so they don't all have to walk to the resupply and we can keep moving.

    Used railgun last night against bots a felt like the man one shotting face plates on safe mode. Idk it seem pretty good still just underwhelming compared to others support weapons

      AMR /Autocannon just do everything for Bots more comfortably imo, I prefer their Hulk two-shots over the Railgun's one-shot for example. Give the Railgun an adjustable zoom scope maybe.
      For Bugs, I do like its Charger kill tho, and one-shotting mediums feels very comfortable.

      Exactlyyy… ac is goat compared to it but if that terrible red dot was replaced with a adjustable zoom scope then it would be great for taking out face plates from deep… it’s alright with the bugs, very consistent with charger legs but blowing up warriors is the best part ofc just wish that I can do something against the bile titans

      The only perk it has over the scorcher is the larger AoE, it just does too little damage though for how slow it fires. Animation, visuals, how it fires etc would be fine if it just hit harder.

      It just made it so safe mode can technically deal damage to heavies now(though it's terrible but thats fine)
      And unsafe gets to its old penetration value faster.

      Yeah, but practically speaking the fact that you don't need to charge it up as much to get the damage changed some of the breakpoints for partially charged unsafe shots, I thought. IIRC it really was 4-5 partial charged shots pre-buff, which was really impractical (as was 3 full charges).

      @@newspiked7385 Give them hell ... still ... we're never getting those mines. The order is PRETTY HARD.
      Not only are there a lot fewer and more powerful bots than there are bugs, we have correct counting which cuts it down to a quarter once again and STILL most people are playing against bugs. We're cooked.
      My back of the napkin guess is that if we did 500 Mill bugs in 12 hours, we'd need 16 days to do 2 Billion bots
