Even Beginners Can't Break This Plane - FMS Ranger 1220mm

- The FMS Ranger 1220mm is basically indestructible, very suitable for new pilots who are learning to fly. We should know, because we put it through a bunch of crash tests and it just kept on flying for this review. On floats or wheels, it handled it all. It's a real tank with wings, which is why it'll be perfect for you to learn how to fly and move up to bigger models.

Indestructible you say… Wait till I get my hands on one.
Lol
Mine too, see if it’s still crash proof on a tree trunk
I crashed mine first flight and destroyed the prop the wings, the front cowl, the wing struts, and the nose assembly 😭
@@eugenejoseph6484 (Hot Glue Gun)
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😎😎😎😎😎
I can prove them wrong... 😂🤣😂🤣🤣
This video is probably the reason I’m gonna buy one of these
Mine has been destroyed 4 times and still flies like butter! 😆
Just ordered mine. 199 with your code and free shipping. Thanks guys!
Happy to help!
That thing is tougher than Woodpecker Lips, it is a awesome little Trainer and just fun! Stoked you did a review on it.
Man this is AWESOME!!! This is exactly what i wanted to see. I think im gonna buy it now!! Best review channel out there pushing limits. I love to see what this is capable of
Unbreakable Rhino with wings and good performances!!!!!
I have this model on the way as we speak from FMS. Cant wait to get it. I have heard bothing but great things about it. The front landing gear is kind if silly looking with the spring but its great for new pilots. Thanks for the perfect timing on the review and for the channel. Love your content.
I have the FMS SuperEZ that is almost the same airplane but tail dragger, and it is too fun to fly. When we have windy days, we can do elevators, stationary fly, spot landings, and much more, even with the gyro in off position, it just feels very stable.
I have this FMS Ranger and i cant wait to fly it. Great plane and for a cheap price!
Hahaha! "what do you do to the ones you hate?" I bet some folks will take this up as a challenge! I'd buy two, one for bashing and the other for keeps.
Great work as always Jon, keep it up mate!
Absolutely, thank you!
When I ordered it this past Sunday it was even cheaper than $209 and came to like $189 because of the 4th of July sale still going on. 🎉
Yep, sales come and go.
I'm sold I'm going to order one from your web site.
Treadmill oil on the wheel shafts stops the noise.👍
on any noisy wheels
Didn’t something break at 0:29 though? Looks like a white chunk flew off when it hit the water
The spinner popped off. It's held in loosely.
@@TwoBrosRC ah good to know. Looks like a great plane otherwise. Now I just need to find a beginner 3d plane that has this much survivability.
I just ordered one with extra props landing gear in a few extra goodies just to be safe. I couldn’t find the same battery that it comes with. I found some 2200mah predator batteries. Would those work with the ranger?
Sure would. 2200s are a solid choice for it.
What was the foam filler you recommend? I can’t seem to find the link in description. I may be overlooking it. Thanks.
This is the stuff we work with: amzn.to/49VQLt5
Thank you very much. Love the channel.
Hilarious! Thanks😀
Started with the FMS Trainer 182 1400mm and went to the E-Flite F-15 after less than 10h experience. Only handlaunched it and while the FMS never crashed, the F-15 did while i threw it but it also didn't care that much b.c. it's a foam plane. RC planes don't need to be durable if the have a landinggear / floats and you are not a 100% idiot.
Not sure how that tracks, but OK.
Thank you 2 bro's
It just so happens that I am in market for just such an airplane.
I have a grandson that has taken interest in my hobby.
You just sold a Ranger.
The hard part will be the wireless buddy box.
I'm a digital caveman.
P.S. Smoke bombs are a big no no for Arizona this time of year.
Happy to help! It should be really easy to fly for your grandson.
Mentioned foam filler in video but don't see a link to the specific product you use. Thank you in advance
amzn.to/3Qp9g01 is the stuff we use.
So has the nose wheel been redesigned? And the propshaft can't bend ? Slow crashes maybe 😉😎
Redesigned in what way?
@@TwoBrosRC hiya Guys, it's a great plan and a great video!!!
Sorry if I'm picky . Your 2nd sentence, " IT'S INDESTRUCTIBLE, SERIOUSLY " I don't think that is true, is FM's going to replace it? I think you'll have a few new disappointed flyers..... It's a fantastic plane and I dig the justice you've given it ..... but definitely not the INDESTRUCTIBLE part !!! Thankyou and happy flying!!! Love from New Zealand 😉😎
were did you get the smoke system?
Shutterbombs.com
What smoke system did you use?
Shutterbombs, as we mentioned in the vid. :)
Where did you get the smoke bomb thing
Should be linked in the description.
How does this compare to the Apprentice STS?
No idea, we've never flown it.
How do you do the smoke
Pretty sure it's in the description and mentioned in the video lol
Does the rtf version have telemetry?
Nope.
@@TwoBrosRC I just bought this plane as this is my first ever plane how would I know when the battery is low?
Use a low voltage alarm. They're cheap and readily available from Amazon or your local hobby shop. For more advice, join us on Discord! bit.ly/TBRCDiscord
Does the float version come with wheels also?
Yep!
I never flew a plane with floats, mainly because I’m afraid the plane is gonna be ruined if it gets wet in the interior. What happen to servos, ESC, receiver, and motor when it gets wet?
Someone can answer…
Nothing, usually, since the plane floats and the components don't get wet. The motor doesn't care if it's wet, but the other components will be damaged if they're submerged.
I somehow broke mine😂 I posted it in the discord
I got for first fly, brand new and I mistakenly put a 2s battery on it, did not pay attention. It took off and after 3 seconds went nose diving. I broke both parts of the wings in the pin area, broke the spinner, the wings struts support came off and finally busted the propeller. I think I am below beginner.
Oof. Try again - everyone makes mistakes!
@@TwoBrosRC thanks mate, glue all together and I am getting new props and spinners today.
I have seen a guy at the field crash both versions of ranger more times than I can count and it just keeps goin
Thanks for the review, might be next buy and was happy to have found your channel. But then it took you 5:46 to say this was a sponsored video? And by "say" I mean, you mentioned in passing that FMS asked you to put shutter bombs on it which leads me to believe they, at least, send you the Ranger, too.
So, I guess this is the state of YT these days where creators busy building their base can't be bothered to mention if it was a paid/sponsored review at all?
If it was not, then you have my apologies but if it was, how about being honest about it up front?
You watched all of this torture testing and upfront thoughts on it and assumed we're lying to you because we didn't immediately disclaim that FMS sent it to review. That's on you, guy.
We're always direct and to the point with what we think and feel. FMS did not tell us what to do or say. They gave us an airframe and helped get a couple of expensive smoke bombs for the plane. Our thoughts are ours alone. If you want someone to tell you what it's capable of, that's what we're for.
We do apologize that the "paid promotion" button wasn't checked. We've enabled it now. But sent to review or bought wouldn't matter. This vid would have been made the same way and we'd say the same things.
@@TwoBrosRC Easy tiger, I never said you were lying. I actually said I would likely buy the Ranger.
What I certainly did point out was that you should have, in all fairness, been 100% clear up front about this being sponsored/gifted to you and yes, tagging it on like that towards the end came off as wrong to me.
But the only thing that's "on me" is that I spent years in journalism and as such, I just long for the older days of YT where content creators didn't have to navigate this whole thing where, I reckon, you need to stay friends with the industry to be able to get stuff first to review to get the clicks, etc, etc.
Now, this might not be you but I know that a lot of creators opt not to review free stuff unless they can make a generally positive review - because they are basically afraid of ruffling feathers and not getting sent new stuff in the future - which their channel may be depend on. So, that leaves the rest of us with a somewhat slanted picture of what's out there and a game of having to read between the lines or interpreting the unsaid.
Anyhow, maybe I am just old school and maybe no one else feels the need for the usual disclaimer any longer.
Oh, thanks for marking it is "paid promotion" that's actually more than most creators do these days.
Oh yeah, I void the warranty on an aluminum baseball bat.... However the parkzone cub which is no more was incredibly strong also, I was learning my aerobatics with it and crashed it full throttle straight down, inverted low pass full throttle and dumb thumbed it, but now I only crash when I'm to fast and to low and my head isn't in the game. But who are we kidding, you fly rc planes and collective pitch helicopters YOU WILL CRASH. I'll have to pick this one up and test it myself
All my FMS Planes are Tough as Nails
Great video, a really nice plane for the $$. I would like to see an option for a bush taildragger. ;-)
AirHammer out!!
put a little wd40 on the wheels hubs it should quiet them down a bit
Perhaps!
Plane might hold up, but how about props? I'm on my 3rd in 3days. Props ain't cheap after a while!!! Make me some indestructible props and we'll talk
If the propeller doesn't break, the airframe will.
Indestructible?
Hold my beer....
Good luck!
@@TwoBrosRC I actually bought a used one last week. Guy bought it for his son but the kid just wasn't interested so I got a good deal. We'll see how she flies. No floats, shame because I have a nice pond.
Indestructible? You should have seen my first takeoff.
👀
Recently bought this plane and flew it today on the water and crashed it in the water and now the motor doesn't work. Makes me wonder why, because your test video showed you guys crashing multiple times in the water and it still works. Hm
You might have had contaminants in the water that caused the motor to seize up or something. No idea.
1:56 something comes off the plane
The spinner. It's only held on by friction.
Unfortunately I had the exact opposite of what you show in your video. I pretty much solely bought this plane because of this video. My very first flight on floats literally the first seconds of flight. Pushed on throttle and lifted off got a foot or two off the water and nosed down. Hit the water at maybe a 30 degree angle and it flipped onto its back ended up tearing the front float mount out of the body and toasted the motor. Now waiting for a new motor the old one just shutters back and forth and for glue to reattach the front float mounting plate back into the body. I have to say I was very excited after watching this video and completely disappointed after my first 10 seconds of " flight " contacted FMS and received a well there not water proof and more or less sucks to be you. Them posting this video on their site to me is false advertising, you guys slam it into the water and bushes with no issues I had a flip and toasted the motor and tore the entire float mounting bracket out of the plane.
That's super unfortunate, sorry to hear that! Sometimes people get the doodoo luck of the draw, and it sucks that it had to be you that time around. I have just recently became medically retired and have thought about getting a RC plane to occupy some of my time. I have seen other channels and they suggest that one buy a flight simulation program and a good gaming computer. What do you 2 recommend????
A flight simulator is a good idea if you have a PC that'll run it. Otherwise it's cheaper to buy this airframe and learn to fly with an instructor.
I bust it! The nose wheel is easily bent & broke the fire wall
Crashing into water and weeds isn't quite the same as concrete and trees.
🆗
Have had this plane for 2 years and am still afraid to fly it. So embarrassing
Why? It's super easy.
Would someone please call the ASPCA - American Society (for the) Prevention (of) Cruelty (to) Airplanes !!!! - this was painful to watch.
In defense of the Aeroscout - I've never broken a prop or had a student break a prop since I started training with the Aeroscot. Smack the nose in any other plane like the Ranger or Apprentice and you may break a prop, damage the motor mount and mess up the nose gear. I recently acquired a Ranger so I will see how it does compared to the Aeroscout.
The first time I saw an Aeroscout I thought it was ugly too and did not like it.
But it has grown on me. It is so ugly it is cute.
Durability testing like this is how you can tell that it's a solid model for beginners!
Yes, mostly my attept at airplane humor, sometimes it lands, sometimes it crashes...@@TwoBrosRC
It looks ok but I do not see a beginner getting a pnp
OK.
Me, a beginner. Looking for videos on different PNP planes.
"Indestructible"? I very much doubt it.
Did you not see how many times we crashed it? Pretty sure it's damned near indestructible unless you're intentionally flying it WOT into the ground.
@@TwoBrosRC Into water. Into foliage. Most crashes are far more intense than those and involve high speed impacts into the hard ground. I remember the Prangster that was supposed to be "indestructible". It wasn't and that was made from EPP that is more crash resistant than EPO. Suspect beginners are going to buy this model, thinking it's "indestructible" and they will find out for themselves the hard reality.
Into water and foliage is enough to destroy foam airplanes. We should know considering our Timber floats have broken with softer impacts in water: czcams.com/users/shorts7Gc90Ybdkbw
The motor mount has broken with prop striking water, too.
It's far more indestructible than most airplanes we've flown.
@@thedelaminator I have a friend who took off, did a loop and went straight into the paved runway with a SuperEZ (almost the same model), and the airplane did not sufer that much for the speed this thing impacted. The motor mount move backwards, the motor did not suffer any damange, some foam parts broken but It was easily repaired (hot water) and the next weekend it was flying again. I agree with you that it is not indestructible, but it takes a lot of abuse.
Goofy with floats and front landing gear…..
Sure.
