  • A new unique Milwaukee Tool Installation Driver is actually the first M12 Drill I actually see myself using if not daily, quite often on the jobsite… With 4 Unique attachments, it is extremely versatile and has an impressive amount of control and torque to drive an array of fasteners. You might be wondering is m12 tools are any good, and I try to answer that in the shop, but will have this on site so follow along on my instagram. @rrbuildings

It’s not all perfect. I am not a huge fan of the forward reverse selector, and the bit magnet could be a bit stronger, but in general, this was a great release by Milwaukee.

I am not a huge fan of the unboxing style tool intros...but this tool genuinely sparked my interest. After using it for about two seconds I knew what I was going to use it for and what I wasn't going to like...follow along on IG @rrbuildings to see me use it more and get more thoughts. I think its a solid little drill/driver tho. Drop a comment below what you think!!

How about a thumbs up for sacrificing his table for the review?

The forward/reverse IS annoying. What were you thinking Milwaukee?

The Bosch is better in my opinion

You’re not holding it correctly, that’s why the ergonomics (selector button up top) feels off. Hold it like a drywall screw gun, middle finger on the trigger, thumb actuates selector up top when needed. Traditional trigger finger and thumb wraps the top.

The huge benefit I see with the offset in the right angle is the fact that the outside of the attachment does not spin so you will not scratch up your cabinet by accident if you lean the tool against it. Sweet!

I wouldn't say it was annoying but that in is an inconvenience. If you're holding something in the left hand and you need to reverse, you can't without either putting the tool down and or letting go of the piece you're holding with the left hand.

This seems like an exact copy of the Festool CXS

Biggest negative. No hard case. I need stackable containers. Those soft cases are sloppy if you stack your tools. I have alot of M12 tools. I bought a few smaller 3.0 batteries. That was a good investment. Runtime was vastly improved and my heated clothing too.

Yeah, the F/R button is not a good idea. Perhaps that's what made it different enough to avoid patent issues.........ha! They will get tons of negative feedback on that one. Lot of comments about this and that, remember ..... it's an installation driver, not an everyday general purpose tool replacement. It'll be on of those "great to have when the need arises, get you out of a jam" tools for me. It'll see very little use, but will be the perfect tool when it's needed.

The magnet for the magnetic bit holder seems weak.

It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s

As a handyman I use the m12 impact and the drill everyday. They are small and lightweight. My tool bag is already heavy and they help. I am interested in this tool. Thanks for sharing.

I Bought one of these just two weeks ago, I have always been a Makita fan but I don't know that Makita makes a drill like this one. This drill is made to help with the more intricate tasks. I like that it provides so much more speed control and it tend to stay inline with your hand and wrist while in use. It is not meant to take the place of the large drill and impacts. Milwaukee did a really great job in designing a tool for a need.

Love my Festool CXS and will probably get one of these as well because its M12.

The offset is super useful for installing equipment into networking racks. Many times the rails and mounts get in the way of driving the screws into the rack. Also having a clutch is needed where you take machines apart. I've broken screws and messed up threaded holes many times with a too powerful driver. Sometimes a race car isn't as useful as a bicycle.

wow, takes me back to trying to fix a gate back in the early 60's, I was 12 years old, I was introduced to soap to lube the thread and some pliers for leverage and a screw driver, we've come a long way

Moving the forward/Reverse makes a lot of sense for truly tight spaces. My M12 tools really start driving me crazy when the F/R switch bumps into lockout while I'm trying to do work where my hands aren't able to get perfectly placed on the grip. And if you're going through a bunch of installs, then how often are you going into reverse anyway? Maybe the top of the tool isn't ideal, though, and I'd have a hard time trusting an electric switch over time.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. I use an impact far too often when I probably shouldn't use that overkill. A compact, ergonomic simple "driver" is perfect, and I already have some tools on the M12 platform. Great review, thanks!
