NBA legend and Tracy McGrady welcomes Ryan, Channing and Fred to Houston for a conversation covering his hall of fame career, brotherhood with Kobe and the darkest times he experienced on and off the court.
The guys joke around to start the show off as Tracy tells the guys that basketball was his 3rd sport growing up and that baseball was his actual best one but that as a junior in high school, he picked up a basketball for the first time and the rest was history.
Sharing tales from his storied career and some of the All-Time greats he played with or met along the way that helped him mold his on court play from Michael Jordan to Penny Hardaway to Kobe Bryant to his coaches to his teammates. Being ranked as the best player in the nation at 18 years old, adjusting to money and fame was part of the transition process. Never winning a championship, Tracy's career was defined by his hall of fame talent and one of the best wings to every play the game known for his shooting skills, scoring, dunking and aggressive defense.
Tracy talks about some of the infamous match ups between him and Kobe and gets deeper into the bond the two shared off the court which he says shaped him as the man and player he was. Opening up about the moment he found out he passed and how it still doesn't seem real, Tracy shares some of their personal moments outside of basketball giving a different look into the person Kobe Bryant was.
In an emotional moment, reflecting back on his career, Tracy opens up about the struggles he faced waiting his entire life and working so hard to be apart of a championship team and how his injury kept him from being apart of the run, ultimately sending Tracy to a very dark place where he didn't talk to anyone for months. Tracy describes the moment he realized he wasn't the player he once was capable of being due to injury and age, and the blows he took to his ego leading him down a path of despair.
Being selected to the Hall Of Fame is the one thing that helped make all the painful moments and losses suffered along the way less of his focus and learned to relish in the moments of his success and understand the power of his legacy. Tracy's proudest moment has always been earning the respect of his peers and the guys he spent his life playing along side, especially a forever impactful statement from one in particular...the last interview with Kobe Bryant when he shared that the best player he ever faced was Tracy McGrady.

Tmacs ability to speak on his experiences and the way Ryan, Channing and Freddy allow the conversation to flow...aint nothing else like it right now.
No matter interruptions. Allowing the guest to fully express their thoughts and articulate their points and in some fashions and moments allowing the guest to lead the conversation
What ab all the smoke?
There are like 30 podcasts like this. Drink Champs is #1.
@@anthonyjohnson3022 it'd be more enjoyable if they weren't a bunch of yes men. Any time they have a guest they'll agree and shit on one side and then completely contradict themselves a few shows later
Nothing is messing with the Pivot. I believe it’s the football equivalent to inside the NBA just with guests and interviews. Much appreciation fellas 🙏🏽
Way better then inside the Nba
@@BroCoolFire I’d have to agree.
@@BroCoolFire zero need for all of that.. Zero
@@BroCoolFire comparison not needed bro, enjoy both
Its equal to all the smoke to me
The looks on they face when they T-Mac said he can get on one knee and throw 60 yards was priceless 😂
Man lying on camera
The cap is immaculate.
I believe it. He was tryna get into the mlb after he retired from basketball. I bet Roger Clemens will verify his abilities
Na he meant, w his one GOOD knee, he can throw 60 yards. But the way you heard it was funnier tho
Well we know he can KICK!!! 😂😂😂
Had me in tears talking about KOBE MAN ITS STILL UNBELIEVABLE.. RIP KOBE AND GIGI AND ALL THE OTHER VICTIMS INVOLVED..😪😪
Don't cry because he's gone bro, be happy and remember that you got to see his greatness on the b-ball court! 💯 RIP to those that perished in that terrible crash.
@@jeremyd3145 that's real bro!
YES YESSSSS 🙏🏾🤎🙏🏾🤎🙏🏾🤎

@@jeremyd3145 We we’re definitely blessed to witness Kobe Bryant’s greatness 🙏🏾
LMAO at Ryan Clark saying TMac started lying.🤣🤣🤣🤣
😜😂😜
That sh*t took me out 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
Came thru the do' lyin!!!! 😀😀😀
Wow never ever heard T-Mac be so candid in an interview. Pivot is the platform and the reason. Amazing job guys keep it coming. Love the Kobe stories.
That Flawda came out of Fred 😂😂😂 “dat bih walk like Kenny smiff” 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Lol I caught that
Man T-Mac vs Kobe when T-Mac played for my Rockets will forever be some of my favorite basketball moments
Magic days was better like 01-02
@@killadez3511 MVP caliber season, but doesn’t change the fact that he turned our franchise around. We love Steve Francis but there wasn’t much winning going on until we traded him for T-Mac
I’m from Miami and I can confirm he definitely made his name in baseball first I remember football coaches talking about him when telling us we should try different sports no matter how good we were in football or track
Ryan Clark gonna have his own talk show before it's said and done lol. Pure gold every time.
With Fred and Channing lol called the Pivot

Please get my boy Westbrook on the Pivot !!! I hate the media has painted a Scarlett letter on him and would love to hear a real sit down convo from his point of view !
he don't like interviews
That Westbrook interview needs to wait til his career is over
Agreed!!! Get Westbrook on the show!
💯
I'll pass on that
T-mac is a GOAT. I have been a fan since his Orlando days.. I got my boy high school jersey framed in my man-cave and in mind it is priceless.. shout to the Pivot for the great cast and for going indepth with great question selection 💯
Yes sir! I got a signed ball 🏀
T-Mac is no where near goat status. However, he was a great player! If not for the injuries he could have been one of the all time greats! He was a very unique talent. Unstoppable scorer. Good defensive player. One of the most exciting player of his era. One of my favorite player's.
💯💯💯💜💛💜💛
TMac is definitely GOAT status... U just contradicted yourself.. "unstoppable" is a word you only use for Goat status player period.. I don't know where you are from, but where I'm from it's all about getting buckets and u just admitted that what he did like no other my boy. Just because he doesn't have a ring don't get it twisted.. Robert horry got 7 rings and he trash but he is also what you call a unique player which is a role player.. if TMac had 7 rings with his stats I'm damn near certain people would put him over all-time.
@@sw5401 GOOD defensive player ??? HUH ??? T-Mac was garbage on the D end,he was more interested in scoring than playing D.
T- MAC said that “Respect From His Peers” meant the most important thing to him. That shows you how humble, authentic, and respected this man is. T-MAC was the coldest during his tenure with Orlando and would have been a Top 5 player of all time, but injuries derailed the opportunity. However, everyone knows what he is capable of, which shows how LEGENDARY this man is.
T-MAC was one of my childhood idols, and not to mention I had the hugest crush on him. And anyone from Central FL knows baseball and football were his first and second love, and he became heavily recruited In baseball and football.
I’m so happy my guy T-MAC got dues paid off by becoming a Hall of Famer.
Great job, The Pivot! Keep the unexpected guests coming! You guys are doing something for the culture that has never been done before. Much Respect and Blessings to you guys.
@dricialovesyou, T-MAC was that guy back then Ballin out on everybody
@@Iamdasouth he really was fr. my fave player in nba live he could do it all
Yeah yea.. I'm from Florida yet, never liked T-mac like that (on 2K he was my guy lol)
I liked Vince and Kobe however, I knew TMac was longer and just as deadly as those guys
He truly is one of the most talented 6'8" players to play the game imo. I don't think he ever reached his best prime state and if he did, it didn't last very long due to injuries
Yea man... I'd put him in my top 10 list of best SF of all time or SG. He could play multiple positions and he could do it all
A.I was my favorite.. and later seeing Tmac play so smooth and effortlessly.. showed me size matters
T-Mac was nasty. One of the greatest and most prolific scorers there was. Was nothing he couldn’t do. Dude carried the magic by himself. Always think what it would of been in Grant Hill didn’t get hurt?!?
The kobe talk was deep 🥺 im still not over his passing either he was my favorite player since I was 8 years old r.i.p to him & gigi!
The Pivot all over the place with guest. Y’all traveling. 😂😂😂😂 Always bringing heat!!!! 💪🏾 💯
Y'all should get Percy Harvin on the show!
T-MAC is always dropping knowledge and great stories!!
One of our living legends one of my favorites MJ, VC , KOBE ,TMAC KD ,KING JAMES, DRose
You forgot AI
So happy to see you guys thriving in a positive environment. Loving the Pivot-keep rocking, guys!
It’s sad how this man doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Should of been in the nba top 75
EASY!
i say that everytime i aee team 75 Tmac def def needs a spot smh
Kobe gave him his due
We need an interview with Vince Carter
Pivot at it again with another GREAT show FOR THE CULTURE 🔥
The way Fred, Chan, and Ryan look at 3:35-3:40 is hilarious 😂 🤣 ... Everybody looking like "Nah bruh, you know you lying"
59:12 …. The way Ryan presents his questions is truly amazing. Almost every episode he has the guests giving him props on his great questions. Great job as always pivot crew!
RC has grown on me big time. ESPN doesn't utilize all his talents... had no idea he was this good of a host.
Where are the timestamps?
Smiled the whole time watching this. The Pivot is unmatched.
I was out here geekin too!!
Facts
As a huge Kobe fan it’s hard for me to still watch old Kobe clips highlights vids etc. I start watching them and get sad and angry and turn them off. It’s tough man he really was my hero
“That MF was cold!” Penny was cold and needs to be in the hall of fame! Y’all better listen to Shaq and T-Mac! Penny put in work! 901 let’s go!
Fr.. i remember being 15 yo living in Orlando, FL with no cable TV but still being able to watch Penny with a metal hanger lol on the local channels. .
I remember saying to myself. . Dang, this guard is real good. He was making some spectacular shots that had a high degree of difficulty
That's when i knew he's just as good as the best guards in the NBA
Yessir if Penny hadn't gotten injury he would of easily surpassed Mj he was quicker had better court vision was even more athletic he had a freakish bounce to his athleticism was just skillful in every facet of the game my fave player growing up and to this day I still watch his hardwood classic games on the tube.
@@Iamdasouth surpassed MJ? Ummn. .. Penny was nice tho. No doubt.
Heda been one of the all time great guards we talk about. We don't talk about him as if he wasn't great simply because his career was cut short
MJ was different tho. I give Jordan the edge on athleticism and more
But again.. Penny at his best may have been the 2nd best 2 guard when Jordan was around

One of the best! Closes to a Kobe interview. Super inspired. He had his hand closed early because he was “lock off”. But y’all open him up. I love you this and love you guys! He didn’t fold his arms again once y’all got it open.
Love y’all I’m always, I’m always here but as a young dude i want to do the same. And get the college kid$.
Another Great Show!!! One hell of a guest.
I would love for you to interview Jalen Rose and Dirick Rose. They both have a story to tell.
Early 00's T-Mac was that guy. From his game to his shoes, straight 🔥. My favorite player since middle school
T Mac was that DUDE and that DOG in his prime...Another amazing show with these 3 Kings! Salute to the Pivot!
Wholesome and Florida Boy is an oxymoron 😂 we are all a lil off 😂😂
"From 175 to 1"...sounds like the title of your book
Also for those that don't know. He's from Polk County in Florida. There's really only retired people, and then the hood. My grandmother lived in Polk county and the neighborhood he's talking about has been dubbed "heroine alley" by locals for over 20 years. Definitely a rough area no matter the time of the day.

Awesome interview! Love all the questions that were asked. The relationship he had with Kobe was special, I loved hearing stories about Kobe. T-Mac seem to be a good-hearted person and had a lot of love for the game.
I'm a die hard MJ fan and would love to see yall interview him. Not sure if that's possible but I'm believing that it's in the making. 😉

This gave great insight to Tracy McGrady, that I really enjoyed listening to. Thank U!!! U guys are doing an EXCELLENT job interviewing your guest!!!
We used to create players on NBALIVE that were 6'9 with hops, handles, and a jumper...then along came Tracy Mcgrady!! He was unreal!!!!
Never forget the comeback vs San Antonio in less than a minute
Love T-Mac , dude was a straight up killer on the court , great episode

Love the interview with T-Mac, awesome introspective conversation. I was one of the people on the hill saying he and Kobe were peers when it wasn't popular. Keep the heat coming guys!

I am absolutely thrilled that my favorite podcast brought on my favorite player of my lifetime, T-Mac. Thank you, thank you!
I would love to see an episode with Jimmy Butler. It would be epic!
Fire 🔥 interview ! Would love to see Derrick rose on here
Bang like T-Mac!!!! Ohhh man bringing back great memories of him with the Raptors, Magic, and Rockets squads he was part of. Well deserved Hall of Fame career.
Always love the conversations never a disappointment 👏🏽
T-Mac was phenomenal. His skill set made his time in Atlanta meaningful even with minimal playing minutes. I'm curious what other options were available after his Rockets tenure. What was he told leading into joining the Spurs? Why was he on the bench? Was it to keep him from joining another contending team? How much did Artest do for their Rockets playoff run before leaving to join the Lakers for championship? Who were his favorite veteran players and why?
These guys will literally go from a Dentist to a Kaitlyn to one of the best scorers in NBA history. These guys don't miss.
Love from Texas. Peace.
Reason I started watching basketball
Guy is a hall of famer but still underrated
T-Mac! One of my favorite players ever. Had his own style. Made the game look effortless
