And even then, BSOD incidents are still just as likely to be caused by MS software products - they are not immune from BSOD episodes. In fact, Windows updates have also caused (less catastrophic) BSOD events on occasion. So long as the Windows kernel design remains in its current form, the potential for these types of OS failure will persist - irrespective of who is producing software components for the Windows platform.
