      Enjoy it. It's probably our favorite DVC resort, especially in a 1 bedroom or larger

    Building 62 is the best in my opinion! Directly across from the hospitality house and path to the pool. Plus has the pass through to the bathroom through the laundry room

    Very informative Shannon. We've stayed at OKW several times and it is my favorite DVC resort. I really liked the detail you went into regarding the different areas. We usually stay near the Hospitality House but were looking into Old Turtle Pond for a change.

    I hated my stay here. Takes 25+ mins for bus to get around full place stops. Be aware. 2024 Feb stay rooms need major upgrades.

    I stayed here in January last year and I'm going to stay now in May. Last time I just made requests on the Disney website reservation and I'm not quite sure what my second request was(I think possibly near bus stop) but my first was to be on peninsular road as near hospitality house isn't an option on there and I did get building 23(on second floor, which I didn't really care what floor). It was just a studio so the bathroom thing wasn't an issue but this time I will be staying in a 1 bedroom however I don't think it should matter really for me. So I made the same request for peninsular as well this time and ground floor as I will be staying with someone older but I usually always have the request for my room to be ready above all else as I usually only do one or two nights so I like to have a room ready when I get there or soon after. I'm not sure if this changed after covid but I think you said the buses were this way when you stayed before covid because you said you were standing but when I stayed last time the bus went to hospitality house then peninsular, millers, old turtle pond, south point, then back to hospitality house. Not sure what they are doing now for this hotel but I did stay at Saratoga in December which is a very similar hotel and has a lot of bus stops and they were still going to all the stops regardless and it worked out at least that time as not many people were getting on and the bus was never full. I've stayed a couple times since covid and haven't run into this issue that often and they seemed to get a better system that fits more people now instead of wasting extra space when they first made this system and I was there in August.

      I haven’t stayed here since Covid, but others have reported they haven’t had issues with the buses. The route remains the same

    Hi Shannon , just watched your Vlog. Great advice & information . My Wife & I aren"t DVC Members but are looking to go through DVC resale to book our holiday , which we have never done before ! We are a little early for our Oct 2023 dates just yet but wanted an alternative to booking through Walt Disney over here in the UK. Everything is so expensive ! May I ask if any of the Standard Studio rooms near HH have Walk -In Shower's ? Many Thanks. 😏

    • @ShannonFord

      I believe they are all shower/bathtub combos unless they are an accessible room.

    Hi Shannon, thanks for all the great videos on best & worst rooms.... I was watching this specifically for an upcoming first visit to OKW and wanted to get clarification on the rooms with proximity to Disney Springs. I know the boat launch is currently suspended but hope they bring it back soon. Our stay is not until January and we will enjoy 5 nights at OKW but only 3 park days. Since we won't have a car on our trip I was hoping to request a room with the easiest Disney Springs access, whether boat launch (God-willing) or even the walking path. I know you mentioned building 55 as having access to the walking path.... is that also where the boat launch is?

    • @ShannonFord
      @ShannonFord  Před 3 lety

      The boat launch is by the Hospitality House. The walk to Disney Springs is really far. I would still recommend requesting a room by the Hospitality House and if there is no boat, take the bus.

    I really love OKW, but the size and buses are a real headache. So it is -HH- or we will not stay there. So instead, we will rent from an owner, so we can guarantee a GV HH, which is only at building #25. Not only are you near the pool, and lobby, but next to BOTH the FIRST and LAST bus stop. That way, you never have to take the tour through the resort, both getting on or off.

    • @ShannonFord

      Great insight! And I’m so jealous of the Grand Villa

    • @nicholas_scott

      @@ShannonFord We have a party of 10, and the OKW GV are about 1/2 the price as the others on property. The OKW GV is cheaper then most 2-room villas. If you have a large group and can spread the cost, this is the way to go. 4 bathrooms, and tons of space. Massive kitchen. some fireworks views, and tons of food/shopping just a boat ride away. The only quirk is the jaccuzi is in the master bedroom, so its a little weird when others want to use it! lol

    I was looking to book here or Saratoga just a few days prior to Thanksgiving. I like the idea of the room size but am nervous about getting a higher floor with no elevator. We have 2 kids and a stroller. Is this really rolling the die here? Thank you for the videos!

    • @ShannonFord
      @ShannonFord  Před rokem +1

      We've stayed here several times and always use the @touringplans room request feature and always have gotten a ground floor room. Most people don't want a ground floor, so it's an easier request to fill. Specific building is harder, but we have also gotten that too.

    21:16 building 49 & 50 might as well be red roof inn on the interstate. Disney should be ashamed of how little sound barrier they put up. A quality high fence would help. Just pitiful. Worst locations in all of DVC.

    How do you request a certain building? Do you have to call or is there somewhere online to do so? And if you have to call, what is the number?

      Using TouringPlans.com Check out my TouringPlans 101 video and I show how to do it. I believe it’s for subscribers only but a year subscription is only $15.95 and offers a lot. It’s a must for any WDW trip in my opinion
