    U2 "Until The End Of The World" guitar lesson. For the next Riff of the Day, Andy uses a Disaster Transport SR from Earthquaker Devices. Over the years, you can see The Edge playing this song with a capo on the 3rd fret, shifting the key from E to G. The Disaster Transport SR can easily dial in the dotted 8th note tempo which clocks in around 430ms and we've used the B delay line to add some extra slab and reverb. As with all Edge riffs, it's more about the notes you don't play so left the repeats complete the rhythm rather than trying to play over it. The capo gives the verse a jangly sound, especially during the suspended chords that use open strings. The intro is also heavier tone wise, so we used an EQD Tone Job to push the mids and amp's input, which cleans up easier with the guitar volume. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson!

    Thanks! Of the faster songs this and "Electric Co" are my favorites. The live versions of "UTEOTW" are awesome.

    I saw another tutorial where a guy does 3 slides instead of 1 for the guitar intro which still sounds alright, but we know how Edge leverages the delay sound to work for him, and you shouldn't have to add more notes than is necessary.
    A nicely put together tutorial for a fairly technical song!

    I'm starting to think that U2 transposed it for live situations and Edge used a capo, because I could swear that on the original recording it's in E. Perfect demo, and spot on in all directions, but try that key against the album.

    Hey Andy. I needed to learn this song for a recording I'm doing with a friend. I came across this video and realized I'd forgotten that you'd made it and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed th8is series you did. Kind of hoping you might resurrect it.

    Dig it...The trouble I have with using the delay in such a manner is finding a drummer that can keep time dead on..without a click.

    • @juanjosebol
      @juanjosebol Před 10 lety

      just add a click.. I never play with tap tempo unless my drummer (or if im sitting at the drums) is playing at the same tempo with a clicker, as easy as headphones.

    Bro I'm sorry but these are not the right voicings. They're not even the right chords. No hate, learning songs by ear is super hard and we all make mistakes, but this not how the song goes. Much love, one of the best songs ever written imo, just heads up to anyone reading the comments, this is a half a step (one fret) too high.
