Lee Edmonds kawhi leonard is a stud. I think what they have in common is being able to overcome guarding people bigger than them. Ben was always undersized at 6'9 guarding the likes of shaq. kawhi whos 6'6 maybe 6'7 guards lebron by himself whos 6'9 and much bigger than him. I love the way they both play defense. expect kawhi to win more dpoy awards in the future.
For those of us growing up in Metro Detroit during the Rasheed/Big Ben/Billups/Hamilton/Prince era, Ben Wallace was the definition of Detroit toughness. #3 was one of those rare players who could dominate and change the course of a game from the defensive end. Listed at 6’9”, he was actually closer to 6’7”. But What he lacked in height, he more than made up for in wingspan length, near-legendary strength, and unbridled ferocity. He had an uncanny knack for being in the right position for rebounds and blocked shots, as well as being a steal machine in the passing lanes. Every screen he set was like a brick wall. Ben was team captain that led by example: This was a warrior who could shut down Shaq and Yao Ming in their primes, guard any position 1-5, and always went to war for his teammates. I will always have a place in my heart for this man: a champion who rose from obscurity, who, along with a bunch of players most teams had written off, gave the Motor City our 3rd championship. Detroit vs. Everybody
What scary about Ben Wallace was teams guards were afraid to go at him so his intimidation alone saved his team 10 points a night ..he wae quick on his feet and he would have avg 5 blocks a night if teams went at him more but they usually swung the ball to the opposite side he was on so he had to be a weakside help defender and rebounded....no big man went at him one on one near the rim
Ben Wallace was without a doubt the best defender of the 2000's. He was undersized, yet, he was so intimidating that even Shaq was afraid of him. He knew that every time he had to go against Ben it would be a tough long night. Dunkman, I salute you, you've just done the first great (actually amazing) mix of Ben Wallace.
No need for the "imo." You don't have to say it when it's obvious. That's like saying Vince Carter is a great dunker... In My Opinion... No shit he's a great dunker it's basically facts. When an opinion is basically true you don't need to say that it's your personal opinion
I imagine Prime Ben wallace was like watching old bill Russel....tough and affected Every game without scoring much and without having 1 play called for him
His Afro was certainly a Detroit special. I can't ever remember him wearing it in other cities. However, the cornrows wild occasionally come back to the palace
Even Shaq didn't want to deal with Ben Wallace in his prime, that man was a pure beast, let alone that he was well undersized for his position and went to the NBA undrafted.
Hoff I loved that team but they couldn't hang with Golden State. Too much offense if the rules were different then yeah that would be a competitive series but not by modern rules.
my all time fav player. cant believe he played center at 6'7 (listed 6'9 but thats with his afro). he was incredibly undersized in height and weight as a center (body of a SF) yet he was one of the most dominant C during this era, of course besides shaq but he still gave him a hard time. they say charles barkley or draymond green is impressive bc they were undersized, naw take a look at ben wallace, 4 time DPOY.

Never saw a man leave it all on the court more than Ben Wallace did. Today's NBA players look like high school teams compared to the level of effort Ben brought every day. I was lucky enough to grow up as a Pistons fan during this era. They won the title when I was 12. One of the most inspiring teams of all time. Thank you Ben for giving Detroit your all. Thank you from all of us who watched you sacrifice every single thing you had. Thank you for bringing a title to Detroit and showing us what championship effort truly is. From Virgina Union University...BUH BUH BUH BUH BEN, WALLACE! We will never forget.
Yup. I still remember some ignorant ESPN analyst actually laughing at the prospect of Detroit winning the championship during the EC semifinals. God, I was so happy we destroyed the Lakers.

What's crazy is that BW might even be MORE suited to the modern day game. He was truly undersized in those days as a center when centers were still 7ft. He'd probably guard 1-5 as good as anyone in today's game
Kids today have no idea bout this Man. This man was under 7 foot tall, just shutting down All-Star centers with more than a couple inches on him. The man won Defensive Player of the Year 4 times for a reason. Defense like his, is nonexistent in today's NBA. His level of toughness, is gone. Sad to say, really. This Man deserves respect to the fullest. He made playing tough D, look badass.
This team gave young kids across Michigan like myself, motivation to work hard.Hard hat and lunch pal mentality.Pistons were everything to me growing up.
Wallace is a prime example of players who best helped their teams, not by scoring, but by stopping the score. Players like K.C. Jones, Michael Cooper, Dikembe Mutumbo, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, and currently Draymond Green.
Nowadays you get paid based on points, potential, three point shooting.. whatever .This man right here played for pride and not only because he was raised on the fundamentals of hard work but because he knows what it is like to come from NOTHING.
What are you talking about? Who did you think was given MVP in the finals. Hint: it wasn't the leader, passionately, stay on fire every night Ben Wallace. Pay attention. Talking.
Thank you Ben from a Bulls fan...Though your tenure with Chicago was short-lived, nonetheless you still gave us memories worth remembering...And you & the baby Bulls swept the Heat from the 2007 playoffs...
Any man that can hold Shaq deserves respect from everybody. If you're 6'9", or even lower, and you're still playing defense on him with the guts to block his shot, you are the ultimate defender in my eyes.
I just love hustle, toughness. Players like Rodman and Ben are my favorite. I pick them up over players like Curry, that are naturaly gifted, but dont have this kind of heart that these players have.
@@LaMarcGasoldridge only way to win is score more points than the other team. Wallace stopped the others from scoring Ah yes i forgot rings make the player. Thats why robert horry is better than mj...
Some times I would play 2K with Ben Wallace and put the controller down and Ben Wallace would grab 5 boards get 3 blocks and 2 fouls. After I pressed pause.
huh, that was a long time. Now we have 2K17 i guess, but i no longer play video games, just don't have time and passion. Anyway, glad to see this old video clip, drag my memory back to mid 2000th.

He's a hero jerks.!!.sss. Paz. Still impressive and hasn't been done before or since. Had everybody wearing afros. Champion level. Gave people a reason to believe in themselves if no one else does. Corporations hate that. We need it.
Heart of the Pistons.
I miss watching this Pistons team. Perfect chemistry. Schooled Kobe and Shaq in the finals.
yo the detroit announcer is the GOAT
John mason is the goat, and he’s still our announcer to this day.
ThNks for the highlights they ain’t much of Big Ben on CZcams. My favorite player ever
What's crazy is that BW might even be MORE suited to the modern day game. He was truly undersized in those days as a center when centers were still 7ft. He'd probably guard 1-5 as good as anyone in today's game
This man was so destructive on the court!! What an absolute beast. KING WALLACE 👑
Billups, Rip, Prince, Sheed, And Big Ben. Not a Detroit fan by any stretch but that team was so fun to watch back in the day...GRIT.
Who here after he went to the hof
Real men ,real basketball !!!
This team gave young kids across Michigan like myself, motivation to work hard.Hard hat and lunch pal mentality.Pistons were everything to me growing up.
They dont play like this no more.... that HEART! It left with Kobe.
my favourite!!!!! thx a lot!!!!! Big Ben
Ben Wallace was the only one who didn't fear Shaq
I've been waiting for this one for so long thank you!!!
Wallace is a prime example of players who best helped their teams, not by scoring, but by stopping the score. Players like K.C. Jones, Michael Cooper, Dikembe Mutumbo, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, and currently Draymond Green.
One of the reason why I play defense instead of offense.. 🖐
Ben deserves the HoF. He will always be a Hall of Famer in my book!
finally! someone made an updated big ben mixtape. big props!
My favorite Center to ever play 💯 plus watching this video got me through the last 8km off a cycle ✊
Talking.
Ben was a team player! Was a great defender of 2000's
When one of your career highlights is starting the most infamous brawls in NBA history
Dude was an absolute unit at 6’9”
He's 6'8
Big Ben played on a broken leg. Yeah, he's tough
Ben Wallace retired from the NBA in good shape.
Thank you
Getting a bucket in basketball is satisfying. Sending someone’s layup into the stands is fucking priceless.
first started watching nba in the mid 2000s and he was just outstanding. don't seem to get many similar players now
The Best! A Beast!
He would chomp up todays players. Dunkman you da Don.
My brother Ben Wallace one of my favorite basketball players, the inventor of "get that shit outta here.
Love this dude
"No fly zone"
I want to be like you Wallace!
This guy started the saying”welcome to the block party.”
Looking at this makes me realize how hopeless the pistons are we have no one close to this type of defensive intensity no one was coming near that rim
Right!!...they need to come close with this type of identity again..
Crazy how long it's been since the Pistons have been relevant. Miss the going to work crew
Man truly was the heart of DEEEEETROIT BASKETBALL.
Ben Wallace HOF💯
lol no, he a averaged 5 points a game! He ass
@@LaMarcGasoldridge 4x dpoy. Only one other man has ever done that. Defence. Wins. Championships.
@@headintheclouds6935 the only way to win games is if one team scores more points than the other 🙆♂️ nuff said
@@headintheclouds6935 Ben Wallace only has 1 ring 😂😂trash and got carreid
@@LaMarcGasoldridge only way to win is score more points than the other team. Wallace stopped the others from scoring
Ah yes i forgot rings make the player. Thats why robert horry is better than mj...
"Fear the Fro"!!
Love the Requiem for a Dream music
I love the edit with Shaq clips being at the end. Just feels right.
7:59 the contested 3's loooool i love BIG BEN im so proud to have his jersey
Yes. Only Jersey that makes me proud. With all respect to Allen Houston.
Ron Artest you don't want a piece of that beast
My favorite center ever .
Some times I would play 2K with Ben Wallace and put the controller down and Ben Wallace would grab 5 boards get 3 blocks and 2 fouls. After I pressed pause.
Dead grab the rebound without touching the remote. Memories.
And they say Draymond Green is a HOF where even this Monster isn't.. 😂😂😂
Big Ben Wallace I love this guy
A good video like this needed a badass song or something. SHAME ON U Dunkman827!
finally he made a BEN WALLACE video
so that's the dude on the cover of ESPN NBA 2K5
huh, that was a long time. Now we have 2K17 i guess, but i no longer play video games, just don't have time and passion. Anyway, glad to see this old video clip, drag my memory back to mid 2000th.
What was crazy that NBA 2K5 went for 19.99 back then. Memories!!!
After we saw Allen Iverson being the face of NBA 2K all the way to ESPN NBA Basketball, it was time to see a new player.
I thought Ben was 2k4 not 2k5?
G The Genius Beats yeah and so was nfl 2k, decent game too bad madden bought nfl rights
When Big Ben put the clamps on, they weren't coming off. One of two people who can say they gave Shaq the WORK
as a 35 Year old piston fan I got to see both the bad boy era and the going to work pistons let me tell u those Wallace years when he made a block and the palace would ring the gong send chills through ur body better than any dunk or 3 pointer
0:09 that is the best intro of all time😂
