AH didn't just create planets but also planetary systems with orbital mechanics.
So the reason it gets dark all of a sudden in the middle of the day is because you're experiencing an eclipse.
Sometimes you can see The eclipse shadows on other planets, crazy detail!

@@thesaucyprophesy2939 He was absolutely criticizing his high kill vids, just stop. He was calling out the fact he goes for hunter planets and made it seem like Takibo is deceiving his audience in some way, saying he "saw through it" or something along those lines.
I like Dough, I do but thats an embarrassing look for him. I'm glad he was called out for it in the comments but he didn't seem to reflect and understand why he's being called out, instead just arguing with people and doubling down, which is unfortunate
7 definitely has fewer Bile Titans, and I feel like the difficulty doesn't swing as hard with randomized spawn compositions. I swear that in 9s every time I bring the flamethrower, the game decides that the map is going to be 80% Bile Spewers everywhere, and when I don't bring EATs, that's when we get 2-3 Bile Titans per bug breach. I think the game somehow knows how to aim for my build's weaknesses whenever I spawn in.
It would be so awesome and buck the meta if we knew what the mix was going to be. Im not bringing an autocanon for bugs, unless its bile spewers.
it feels like 7 is more world dependent. In 4 mans, I've had many matches were we just get overrun by BTs. Kill 1, two more spawn. I still remember one match recently were there were 5 BTs on screen after we had already killed 3. Combined with a double stalker nest and hunter swarms, we never stood a chance.
the difference between 7 & 9 is you get double bug breach on 9 so it's kinda like twice the mobs on a breach at least that's the assumption.

as dough said before, having some kind of scouting report on the composition of enemies on a mission makes sense lore wise, and would improve the user experience.

Were you getting complaints in the comments about pointing out completely valid issues with the game? I don't feel like a single thing you've ever brought up about helldivers two has been unfounded or wrong. I appreciate you calling out some of the issues because there have been a few times where I was just left wondering if I was crazy about certain issues.
True and real. Most dev advocates say crazy stuff like "if you like this game - you can't critique dev decisions at all".
I think a cool series if you're a little dry on content would be responding to SoS Beacons exclusively in missions 30-40 minutes deep and just seeing the absolute chaos those poor bastards are in and seeing if you can drag them out of there kicking and screaming.
I agree with this. Some of the most satisfying fun I've had in this game is dropping into these overrun, hopeless, FUBAR, situations and fighting the uphill battle to victory. It just sucks when you arrive and the game immediately ends in failure.. seems to happen a lot when I respond to SOS in active defense campaigns.
You can stack fire from the same source just not the ground fire, once the ground area is on fire it's on fire, setting it on fire again just refreshes the timer

Well, first you have to complete the side objectives too, then it gets crazier as breaches reach sub 30 seconds. IMO, what I saw in your game was fairly mild. There were no ninja bile spewers in your game. And when I said 7 I mean bots, not bugs, with devastators and hulks everywhere. And we're talking about how it is now on 7 compared to how it was before on 9. When people say 7 is crazy, they are comparing pre patch to post patch. Especially if they are comparing it to pre patch hell dive. And you're just super good at the game, so there's that too. Most of us are not soloing hell dive for fun. Most of us would be happy with pre patch hell dive where you want a harder mode with modifiers. Which is cool, but it's not for everyone.
Side objectives barely raise the patrol spawn afaik.
@OhDough I remember seeing a video where someone did a test and had actual numbers but I can't seem to find it. Could have sworn it was Luchs. From his video I only see the base timer.
From what I remember, main objective has the largest impact, but the side objectives factories/bug holes has a cumulative effect when combined. I think the figure was as low as 30 seconds. (from the 2 minute cd).
It could also be perception as well like you mentioned. Modes just feel way more crazy after they changed the patrols/spawns.
I'm also not as cracked at the game as you are :).
I'm at the point now where I would rather wait to play again until they drop the revert. Many of my friends stopped playing post patrol changes / nerfs because the game became unfun.

@@SilenceUnspoken I believe it is one of the training tips that pop up on load screens for both helldivers and HD2. It's been a while since I've seen it come up though, so I'm not 100% certain. I also think one of the NPCs of the ship will sometimes comment on it. I know I came across the info in an immersive way, just don't remember when I last saw it.

12:15 if you dive when the 500 KG drops you can be much closer to it. Its around 13m death radius when prone/diving and 23m when running/standing.
13:30 The direct damage stacks, the duration of DoT stacks, the DoT damage only applies the highest source. So Napalm + Incendiary Grenade + Flamethrower would take the DoT DPS of the Flamethrower, but stack all of the times together and continually add it to the creature. Able to cook Titans with it when applied right (Takes about 8 seconds)
Honestly, I love your content where you play the game really well and still talk. The no-commentary gameplay felt really boring for me for some reason.
I think it has to do with the fact that even though you have (very legitimate) gripes with the game that you feel detracts from it, you still play the game well and find enjoyment from it. Watching you just yap through good gameplay feels very organic

19:03 I find that tossing the 500kg just past spore spewers and shrieker nests usually results in a direct hit. The 500kg strike always flys in the same direction you threw it unlike other eagle strikes.
Yep - 500kg, Rocket pods, and Strafing run come in from directly behind where you threw the strike, everything else comes in left-to-right

Anyone seen the burrowing warrior bugs and "dead" chargers that play dead sunk into the ground and then popping out when you get close?
I've seen hive guardians burrow recently, haven't seen a charger pretend to be dead, that'd be cool though. Scary as hell, but cool
Burrowing I haven't seen, but chargers that are laying in the ground I've seen before. Not sure what's up with it, if they're supposed to be there or if they're just clipping into the ground, but it's kind of cool. Like small POIs.
As for the burrowing... I'd bet, with how infested helldivers is with them, it's a bug.
@@JohnQDarksoul Not from the animation I've seen, it straight up dug into the ground, made a little line mound like bugs bunny under my feet and tried to bite my ass. Luckily I had the punisher and point blanked him. Did the same thing when a different guardian tried it.
I have seen chargers play dead and do the unborrow animation as soon as I come into slap distance

If they want to make Hunters a dangerous enemy that can end your existence from miles away, at least let them obey the laws of physics. Hunter heavy missions also have a ton of chargers. I was doing one yesterday solo on Helldive and there were 3 chargers just chilling on the main obj and 4 more spawn from the bug breach. It wasn't fun dealing with 7 of them and a million hunters at the same time lol
I think what makes Eagle stratagems so damn strong compared to others is the upgrade that gives +1 use to each one you take.
Also, nothing messes with their accuracy, and the cooldown modifiers don't hit them as hard.
It's the near-instant call in time tbh.
Hey Dough, one thing that helped with night terrors was sleeping with warmer blankets. Apparently your body being cold at night increases the occurrence of them.

13:42 from my experience no, or atleast nothing noticeable so I use the grenades to create additional patches of fire in the paths of bugs that are not navigating the current one from the flamethrower, or the napalm strike, I've also had great success just aiming at the legs of bugs to kill them quickly compared to the head especially where brood commanders are concerned.
I know this isn't the case, but it honestly feels like your recovery animations are SO MUCH quicker. if I dive, it's like an age to get back up and move.

I had a feeling getting rid of the bug holes before completing the main objective would not reduce the bug numbers in patrols and on the map, although I specifically recall when I first start playing that one of the Manual Training Tips said that it would.
But the same cannot be said on the bots said, it definitely it's noticeable the lack of bot numbers on the map after all the fabricators are destroyed before the main objective is done, and extracts become more manageable.
On the other in other way around, complete the main objective before destroying the fabricators is hell.
And on the side note, on the mission to destroying the command bunkers, destroying the fabricators before the last bunker, all my extractions on that mission type got NOT a single bot heading to the extract.
Hmm... very good test. Sometimes level 7 is harder than 9. I used to just play 7 a lot before unlocking 9, now I almost exclusively play 9. Most of the time it is "challenging" for me, but sometimes 7 can be an absolute nightmare for bots, while 9 is a walk in a park.
It's inconsistent. Sometimes level 7 is nothing then other times it's just relentless onslaught the whole match. It's like they make it a 9 sometimes then a 5 😂😮

Yes, the game already lets you pick enemy modifiers. It is called a guessing game. The mission objective is to keep cycling through planets until your desired modifier lands. Mission time: 30 Mims or more. Lol

I think people that find level 7 harder are the people that have played one level 9 where the rng gods were on their side
I think it's a case of way more smaller mobs at 7 and less Bile Titans, which ironically, is looking to be way harder! it feels like you get stuck in a "oh shit, RUN!" state and forget to actually fire and kill stuff.
This just further highlights the point that Bile Titan spam doesn't make the game more challenging, just more boring by limiting viable options
The way I see the radius of KG bomb is like an inverted cone. The higher the altitude during the explosion, the larger the radius, up to a certain max radius. On ground zero, it is probably the same as the precision strike.
Level 7 is what I main. It's fun, challenges me, get good resources, I don't get frustrated.
My personal gripe with 8 and 9 are extra modifiers. I like getting more enemies and I'd play with more secondary objectives all the time if it wasn't for those dumb effects like "-1 strategem, orbitals miss or extra cooldowns". As OhDough mentioned previously, at 8 and 9 almost all of them have those and you have to spin the planet for a while until you get an operation with bearable effects.

I usually play solo on level 7 and I think the reason people were saying it's so hard is because of the patrol changes when you are playing solo. I.E. level 7 DID get a lot harder for solo or duo players, BUT it also got harder on the other difficulty levels. So I think it was the perception that "Solo lvl 7 is harder than Helldive" because people had an idea on their head of how difficult helldive was with a group and then compared that to lvl 7 solo with the changes.
Maybe not, but that is my theory 🙂

I only play on level 7 and the reason I don't go higher is because it already feels more stressful than fun. I just assumed 8 and 9 were worse. I think a lot of it is that I play with mostly rando's and they tend to like to split, which is known to increase patrol spawns. However, I swear after the patch where they said they reduced the spawn rate of big bugs and added more chaff I was doing bunch of Exterminate missions and every time we'd get 4 Bile Titans spawning from the first 1-2 bug holes of the mission. I'd also see this where on some missions we'd get 4-5 Bile Titans spawning one right after another from one hole. Then other missions none at all. So yeah, sometimes it just feels like something goes bonkers and the spawning mechanics go to 'f*** you' momentarily. At any rate I'm going to point out the 8:01 marker with four chargers and a fifth (8:26) one coming in from a patrol; along with the extraction action seems on par with most of my experience on difficulty 7. It feels like a Charger rodeo out there at times and you're just the clown.

How do you know what enemies spawn on a certain mission/map? It would be very helpful to learn and practice. Also when you were running away from exraction for the first time me just internally screaming dude u have to wait till the timer hits 00:00 to get the secret 5th peli stratagem
you drop down and see what the first bug breach has. the water drop mission usually has hunters and egg mission can have hunters but sometimes it's heavily focused on the medium mobs

Dough, do you know if allies leaving a game takes away the bonus lives? You could set it up as a 4 man for the near 30 lives, and just have them leave right away.

As someone who ran incendiary breaker, normal incendiary nades, and napalm for as long as they’ve been out, I’ve never noticed fire damage stacking other than direct flamer, but walking through napalm + fire nade is the same as just napalm
“On fire” is probably a singular condition, but other DOT like gas strike does stack and therefore is sometimes better than napalm strike if your already running fire as well to have double DOT
Keep in mind that there are no HDR and or settings for it in Helldivers 2. You can override it with either your monitor settings or ps5. But I wouldn't recommend because it would wash everything out. So the best solution is to change brightness in game multiple times in a single mission. Graphics rendering team, you are making it hard on the eyes.
We know its the same build, but what build would you make if you had no warbonds?
I've run in to the sudden darkness bullshit too and I think it's a bug in their volumetric lighting. If you've ever noticed how they have this clumsy way fog pops in and out of existence (it's _really_ noticeable, very ugly, and breaks the immersion they otherwise build), the sudden darkness seems to follow a similar pattern. I think it's some dev's fuck up with the volumetric lighting system that inserts a negative value rather than positive. At least it seems that way.

Night terrors are the worst. Moreso if they make involuntarily move while you're asleep. Had two where I've launched myself from my bed because I "saw" something and it wasn't actually there, broke my door and nearly busted out a window because of it 🙃
He essentially pulled off a fire build I'm still waiting for a set of armor in the game that reduces the damage of fire
I regularly run 7s, because my group wants the super samples, but is afraid of going higher. This is the fewest Bile Titans I think I've ever seen. Chargers seem about average though. Typically get a Bile titan per bug breach, sometimes as many as 3. This video had like 1 Titan per 8 bug breaches, which is insane luck.
Remember he is solo, on more people titans are way more common, sometimes i get over 3 Bile titans per breach in 4 players.
@@anstorner Untrue. Devs themselves have admitted that at the moment solo players get the same number of enemies as a 4 stack.

around the 20 minute mark on some of my sevens is where bile titans start appearing and towards the end we can end up with anywhere between 3-5 bile titans on extract while the clock has been run down :(
I suppose an argument for 500kg being 'balanced' compared to the P-strike is the cost of actually upgrading to the 2nd bomb. People who play this game maybe a couple times a week probably won't unlock that upgrade for a while. Certified Gamers™on the other hand will be sending it to grab the most beneficial upgrades first and from then you're probably only using P-strike if you feel like mixing it up or want both.
Although I'm not gonna pretend to understand the balance philosophy of this game in regards to ship modules and weapon unlocks because it is very random.
I played a level 7 game and it was damn hard, Bile Spewers everywhere. I will call it a solo because I had Helldivers jumping in and out of my game like I was working the streets on a busy night. If I got payed for this, I'd be rich.

New strategy idea: hang out by a heavy nest, kill all bugs without closing bug holes. Maximum insectum.
ATM lvl 7 Terminids is ok, you spend much more time running and it doesn't change the core gameplay fighting the bugs. Against the bots, OH boï, grab your meta loadout, toss a coin to the RNG gods and dive!

I think fire doesn't stack multiple times. I mean I didn't test that thoroughly, but from my 450h playtime it doesn't seem to stack

Level seven only has one modifier? Then how did I have three on one map?
My problem is my fps is low, and so going up to helldive is completely unplayable while challenging is actually 40-60, or was, I should say. I can't really play the game with other players without losing fps too so now I have just been playing TTW while I wait for the game to be playable again
