You mentioned actors that fought in WWII, and I thought of how Christopher Lee had to explain to Peter Jackson what sound a person makes when someone got stabbed in the back.
Your reviews are so incredibly intense and well thought out. Thanks for putting out your vids even while you're feeling ill.
Many thanks! Slowly but surely trying to get back up to full speed.
James, your channel has quickly become one of my favorites, man.
Your honesty and enthusiasm always come through (even when you're sick as a dog) and I think your subscribers appreciate that.
Hope ya get to feeling better soon. Thanks for the review!
UFC 300 is making me heal like Wolverine.
Your channel deserves to be much bigger. Love your reviews and taste!
We appreciate your great reviews James! I look forward to seeing each one. Take care and hope you are feeling better soon.
Many thanks! I have several more movies on deck this week and fired up to get back up to full speed.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock We'll be here for all of it 🤩
Great review, James, you had me at The Guns of Navarone. There is a new bio of Ian Fleming coming out, and I read a review of it today in which it revealed that he smoked 60 cigarettes a day.
Thanks James for another enthusiastic review. Hope you feel better really soon🙏🏼
Thanks, Batgurrl! Slowly clawing my way back to good health.
@@geekinwithJamesHancockyou are very welcome and great to hear you are slowly on the mend. Onward and upward ☮️👌
heard the violence was distasteful with the light-hearted/joking element involved during said violence, but as a Ritchie fan, plan to see it next week at a matinee showing.
Movie sucks azz....
Feel better soon man!
I do hope we get to see your opinion of Civil War at some point though.
Keep it up.
I will definitely see it this week. I also need to see Riddle of Fire, Sasquatch Sunset, and the new Rebel Moon.
Thanks James. Sounds like a fun time and will check it out. Feel better soon!
Hope you enjoy! Not Ritchie's best, but certainly not the worst.
This movie was fun as hell. Richie deserves props for using squibs & no (as far as I could tell) cg blood. Agree with the crew being overpowered. Casual walking & suppressed shooting is an art form & Richie nailed this aspect.
I'm sorry that you got sick. Did you get laid atleast? 'Where Eagles Dare' is a fun flick. Sad to hear that they are censuring Bond books. Mmmm, I love hulking, masculinity too. Have fun watching UFC & get well soon. Btw have you been watching X-Men 97?
UFC 300 was epic beyond words. I still need to get caught up on X-Men 97. I read the comic religiously back in the eighties and nineties.
The Gentlemen the series is perfection!!!! Really highly recommend the Netflix series or the original movie. I don’t know how he does it!
Loved the movie and will definitely be catching on the series.
So hopiing there is a second series
Just saw “Civil War.” It’s good, but it’s no “Children of Men” (2006), know what I’m saying?
I hear you. But I definitely want to see it just to have an informed opinion.
Oh man. convention flu....that sucks. I remember that stuff when i worked at Gencon. You get to feeling better mate!
One of these days, I need to hit Gencon. I've always heard it is a blast.
People don’t realise this film is based in real life, this stuff actually happened in WW2! 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Thanks for the review. Now, take a few shots of whisky and lie down for a week.
Yep best remedy to germs is hard alcohol, I agree! Single malt if possible!
Where Eagles Dare is the GOAT
Agreed. It rules.
Top notch that ski lift fight scene intense
Excellent!
Been looking forward to this flick. Saw Civil War and thought it was OK, but nothing as awesome as I was hoping.
Loved Netflix The Gentlemen show!
As soon as I get caught up on Fallout, I'm diving into The Gentlemen. My problem is that every time I start watching Fallout, I end up pausing the show to go back and play Fallout 3, lol. I downloaded New Vegas again as well.
James, sounds like what you picked up in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas. 🤒
I wish I could say I picked it up in an exciting fashion, but sadly this was just a boring case of being surrounded for too many days by a few thousand mouth breathers.
ian fleming’s james bond novels that came before the first bond movies were great
In a similar vein, the recent BBC/Epix series SAS: Rogue Heroes is worth watching for WWII men-on-a-mission fans soundtracked by AC/DC, Sabbath etc.
I love Guy Richie, so I’ll def check this out… but probably not at the cinema. The prices of a steady movie attendance has slipped out of budget for me, so I have to wait for Blu-Ray or digital release for smaller (or, should I say, ‘not top priority’) movies like this. Hope you feel better soon. I’ve been sick for 5 weeks with some kind of lung virus or infection that will not go away.
Sorry to hear that. I hope you're back to full health sooner rather than later!
@@geekinwithJamesHancock Thanks!
Cristopher Lee was a proper special forces weapon in WW2...
Thank you for fighting through the yuck to give us a review, James! I hope you get to feeling better real soon.
I know that Ian Fleming's estate backs the censorship of his books, but I agree with you. I have not read much of Ian Fleming's works, but it takes me back to reading John Norman's Gor series. At a certain point, I tapped out because I just got tired of endless rape scenes. That said, I would never advocate for censorship. There is nothing wrong with a person deciding that a book, movie, song, etc., is just not for them, but I have a huge problem with someone trying to make that decision for others.
Couldn't agree more. And what I find most cynical is when people say a particular work is objectionable in some way shape or form, and yet try to make money off it all the same. Classic hypocrisy.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock - Absolutely! And when will the books of Roald Dahl, Agatha Christie, Ian Fleming, and RL Stine, to name a few, need further "updating" because social norms shift again, and the next generation finds something new to object to? Animal harm? Any and all sexual content? Cussing? Characters in peril?
Pls review Challengers!
I've got an early access ticket for next Monday.
Get well soon
Got that Con Crud.
Indeed. Con Crud is the perfect way to describe it.
You do realise that what Churchill was referring to, was troops, we built the spitfire that won the war...💚🇬🇧🌱
I wanted to play more of the speech but I worried I would get flagged for copyright.
Churchill wasn't exactly a saint as perceived a lot atrocities he signed off even to his own people
💚🇬🇧🌱 did you not catch "the gentleman" guy Richie doing TV,I enjoyed it...
I loved the flick but I still need to get caught up on the show. I've heard only rave reviews.
Oh man you need to make/buy some chicken extract served with garlic onions and rosemary and drink it. you will be back to normal in no time.
Sounds delicious. Excellent advice.
I enjoyed the "Gentleman" show that he did.
I hear it kicks serious ass.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock It has great Ritchie characters and some great beats.
Geeks are such babies when it comes to a mild cold 😷🤕
Oh, shit!
Everyone will have that response when they see Alan Ritchson in action.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock he's my first choice for Batman in Gunn's DCU.
Ritchie got too "sterile. " I want B tier Tarantino Ritchie.
Tired of:
Zombies
N-zis
I hear you. Richie definitely seems to slip back and forth between his more personal films and his blander studio projects like Aladdin. But even if I wasn't totally blown away by this, I continue to be amazed by his output and productivity.
Cinemacon sounds like a sess pool of viruses 💚🇬🇧🌱 fallout was awesome...
I started watching it last night and had to download Fallout 3 all over again. Going to be tough to get through the show if it keeps making me want to pick up my controller.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock I'm keen to play the game now I've seen the show💚🇬🇧🌱
Mate, the lack of leathery battle hardened masculinity in Marvel and Disney content is because *fantasy movies for children*
The real problem with their content is that it contains a lot of warfare and violence given that it's *for children* Unfortunately a disturbing number of grown men are heavily invested in watching *fantasy movies for children* made by multinational toy manufacturers and, maybe mislead by the content being full of PG-13 guns and death, getting really angry that there isn't enough explicit sex and blood in the *children's movie* .....
Please don't fall into the awokening trap this late in the game buddy, you're one of the few movie guys who appreciates great actual adult content and *isn't* pushing an agenda either way 🙏
First of all, I'm not "really angry" as you stated, but I do have fun talking trash about their movies. And they are still hoping grown men will come to their movies as we saw last summer with latest abysmal Indiana Jones movie. As long as they keep wrecking fictional settings that gave me a lot of joy over many decades, I will continue to call them out for making movies exclusively for little girls. But I appreciate the kind words about not pushing an agenda in the culture war. My sole focus will always be celebrating great movies and when Disney figures out to make one, I will be the first to acknowledge it.
The comparison with Guns Of Navarone and Where Eagles Dare is wrong. Those movies were much more serious, there wasn't any light-hearteadness and hardly any humor in them.
I get what you but those movies were action movies instead of serious dramas about World War II. I mean they sold a toy playset for The Guns of Navarone. Hardly a gritty, realistic exploration of the subject.
Please don’t use God in vain. Thank you, may God bless you all and everyone. ❤️
Bring back the strong men sick of c woman as heroes getting old
Well that’s kinda uncomfortable, as an Indian, Churchill is basically Hitler to my country.
My grandfather fought in Western Europe during WW2 so naturally I am going to have a different view. But in that Churchill fought against Hitler, calling him Hitler seems like the wrong comparison even if you despise him.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock By comparing him to Hitler, I mean to say that he’s considered an evil man because of the things he did to India while he was in power.
Ah yes the hulking masculinity we saw in the original Star Wars trilogy - seriously dude your anti woke rant fell apart under the weight of its own incredulity. Guess you lost a lot of debates in high school.
Lostt count on your praise of muscles & men. Strong pass on this one for me. Go see Godzilla x Kong. Same shitty acting, but the biggest on screen muscles you ever seen.
I reviewed Godzilla x Kong back when it came out. I much preferred Godzilla Minus One.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock Yeah I loved Godzilla Minus One myself. In some ways its better than Godzilla x Kong, especially the human aspect. GxK for the win overall though.
And. . . Thats whats truly great about the longest running movie franchise to date, with no end in sight John. Flexibility to be & mean different things to different movie lovers. When one Godzilla film has you leaving the theater in tears, then a few months later another Godzilla film has you leaving the theater grinning from ear to ear, thats as good as you could ever ask for from Cinema. #themoreyouknow
Got tickets 🎟 for this movie. Hopefully it good. Also liked Monuments Men.
Thanks for the review. Now, take a few shots of whisky and lie down for a week.
Will do!
