      Absolutely agree, there is no need to hurry the process and it can take even into late adolescence. Incidentally, masturbation is natures way for boys to gently, painlessly, and preferably pleasurably, to detach the synechia and stretch the foreskin. Adolescent boys have no problems keeping their penis clean in the shower..., obsessively. The whole "hygiene" argument seems pretty ludicrous. What about vaginas? We all have genitals we all keep them in various states of cleanliness, some better, some worse, but boys are not inherently dirtier than girls, and there is no more angst in teaching a boy to wash up than a girl. Yet Dr. Langley makes this sound like a chore for the boy and for the parents. It is not!

      @@magal55 There IS a legitimate comparison to the most common forms of FGM and female circumcision to male circumcision since circumcision is an "alteration" by definition and is most often performed without the owner's consent and, as well, without anesthetic or the anesthetic is not given proper time to work prior to the surgery.
      What is commonly referred to as FGM or female circumcision encompasses several variations just as there are several varied types of male circumcision; male circumcisions are further broken down into two categories (infant/adolescent and adult based on development [of the penis] and the actual procedure for each, further considered by the applicable culture).
      The removal of clitorises and the sewing of labia occurs MINIMALLY worldwide by comparison to male infant deaths by circumcision and botched circumcisions of male infants and adolescents in the U.S. alone; you also fail to realize or recognize that ALL male infant/adolescent circumcisions result in permanent and irreversible alterations of a penis’ form and function.
      Since 1996, the American Academy of Pediatrics' FULL reports, inclusive of its 2012 full report, reaffirmed in 2018, has been suggesting/recommending that MALE INFANTS AND CHILDREN BE LEFT INTACT so that THEY (the male person possessing the subject penis) can make the decision when/after THEY reach adulthood (age 18) and THEY can sign the surgery consent form themselves. @Yuri R. It is my right to express an opinion just as it is yours. I have friends who are doctors including my personal physician and they have stated that do not recommend routine neonatal circumcision. The APA also states that the benefits aren't significant enough to recommend routine neonatal circumcision. Are there benefits probably but not as profound as you like to say. Cancer is basically the same rate as Europe who were majority aren't circumcised. American Cancer Society specifically states that circumcision is not to be considered as cancer preventative. I am also talking about the USA where I am a citizen and you are not. Personally I could care less if an adult chooses to get circumcised, tattooed, pierced or cut if off because they are making the choice. I have a problem with infants and children being circumcised with no say in the matter. You remind me of another dude from the Netherlands called Dutch something or other. He was circumcised as an adult and commented similar to you. Many would say you need to stay in your own lane and worry about social issues in your own country. Regardless you are allowed your opinion and I mine. Not sure why you feel the need to troll me. It really is intolerant and immature.

    In Germany, a doctor or mohel can legally circumcise a minor. But if asked, most German doctors will decline to circumcise a child, saying that they have had little experience or training in the procedure. In Germany, a large majority of cut men are Muslim immigrants, or descendants thereof. This is true all over Europe. A bald penis is what marks a man as a Muslim.

    I see that the pediatricians and doctors will perform circumcision on baby boys for the reasons of HIV, HPV and UTIs but if it has to be with parents to decide for the procedure parents are to be informed clearly about the procedure. If parents are to decide they are to explain the same reasons as the doctors why circumcision is to be done. It looks more that parents decide only of parent choice Only. If parents do not explained the same reasons of medical circumcision as doctors I do not know they is deceptive lies and medical fraud with it depending what each parent say different from one and another.

      The problem is that there are many men who suffer from circumcision, but when we try to inform the medical system and parents that circumcision also can lead to suffering, we are accused of being too emotional. The information that Dr. Langley gives is poorly contextualized, and biased in what it leaves out of the discussion. She also emotionally seeks to maximize the benefits and minimizes the risks. She avoids the subject of harms completely, and does not put this in the context of genital cutting as a worldwide phenomena that affects girls, boys, and intersex children alike. Her take on adult male UTIs is completely off, infant circumcision has no benefit in the older age group. Her HIV discussion is completely out of date as a large scale study in Canada shows absolutely no benefit to HIV from infant circumcision, a subsequent Danish study confirmed this. The African studies are not applicable to US HIV rates and form of transmissions. Her advice to have little boys to retract is not correct. Her "easier hygiene" blurb, was pretty garbled. For little boys, just wash the outside, and there is no need to "gently retract". Most of the content of this talk appears to be off the cuff, and not well researched.

      The alleged "benefits" have been refuted time and time again. The "risks" are that a son/s could die from the procedure, the circ could be botched, he could suffer skin-bridges, a horrible or misaligned circumcision scar, twisting/curving in any direction, early onset of E.D., etc.; these common damages have been "normalized" over the years. His Body = HIS Decision after he turns 18.
      Dr. Rena Malik (a pelvic surgeon and Urologist) shares the following: “…It's important to understand that some men who undergo circumcision at birth develop a feeling of anger and shame and resentment in having that circumcision done. They often feel like they've lost their bodily autonomy and they are misunderstood very frequently by both society and medical professionals…”
      Dr. Malik further shares: “…I think, if you're struggling from this, I'm so, so sorry that you are struggling and feeling unhappy with either what you were born with or what happened to you shortly after birth that was not done by your consent…”

    • @lthompson9445
      @lthompson9445 Před rokem +1

      The actual ethical principles of doing a surgical procedure on someone who does not have the capacity to consent is called "proxy consent." I doubt if Dr. Langley has heard of it. There are differing opinions on proxy consent, but some of the basic ones are that a procedure is ethical if there is an immediate medical need that cannot be delayed until the person can gain capacity to make the decision him/her/them selves. These conditions are not present with infant circumcision and is the fundamental reason why it is so controversial. Most physicians who practice circumcision are either unaware of this principle, or ignore it entirely, because they do not want to see that they are on shady ethical ground. Then these very same providers will say that those speaking out on the ethics of non-consensual genital cutting are "too emotional."
