Currently pregnant with my first child and just found out it’s a boy. I am so so grateful for this information! The more research I do, the more absurd it seems to get my baby boy circumcised without it being medically necessary

I was in the same situation with my second. I just thought a thing to do, as everyone did it. I REALLY dug into the research and watched actual videos. What I saw and learned, I was absolutely HORRIFIED. 9 years later, seeing those videos and those babies during the procedure STILL makes my stomach turn. I did have a girl, but never would I do this to a baby.

It's "INTACTIVIST" propaganda, can't you see that ?
All the major health authorities, organisations & people in the know, claim there are many benefits to circumcision. Even the British NHS says there is evidence that there are benefits to circumcision....
But if you would rather believe someone who is probably being paid by the "intactivist" lobby, to say otherwise - then so be it.

And even be careful about the "medically required" possibility. As he grows up, he'll encounter doctors who have no idea how to care for an uncircumcised penis because they rarely ever see one. Normal processes that a foreskin goes through as a man grows up will cause even the most well-meaning doctor to tell you that circumcision is "required" when it is not.
      Some examples:
It's normal for foreskins to balloon when a toddler goes pee. The membrane that holds the foreskin to the glans will slowly detach as a man grows up. But, many doctors in the US will tell mothers that the foreskin is ballooning because the opening in the foreskin is too small. It's not and ballooning is normal.
The age three myth. A study done several decades ago showed that a foreskin normally is retractable by age three. This isn't true. Later studies showed that foreskins can be 100pct healthy and not retract until 16 to 17 years old - although the average age is about 8 years old for a foreskin to become retractable.
The "it got tight again" myth. It's normal for the foreskin to become retractable between ages 8 to 10 and then to tighten up again for some years after that before it once again is freely retractable. American doctors will advise teenage circumcision if this happens. It's not required.
Smegma myth. In toddlers and pre-teens, smegma will sometimes ball up under the foreskin and make lumps. This is a normal process to detach the foreskin because the smegma pushes up and breaks the membrane attaching the foreskin to the glans. Doctors will tell mommies that the balls of smegma are tumors and they are not. Smegma is fluffed off skin cells and it occurs in labias, behind the ears, under the toenails, between toes, and under the arms. Leave it alone and don't retract until it does so easily.
Damage from forced retracting. This is one of the things parents need to be so aware of. The rule is "if intact, don't retract." Although it seems simple to never retract, nurses and doctors will force a foreskin to retract during a well-baby exam. Forcing the foreskin to break the membrane can cause bleeding, scar tissue, phimosis, and infection. If this happens, it can lead to a legitimate reason to circumcise a man's penis. It's ironic that after the circumcision many doctors won't admit that it was their own actions (retracting) that caused the problem and not the foreskin.
Itches myth. Another way the foreskin naturally detaches from the glans is because boys will play with their penises. This slow gentle movement detaches the membrane. If a mom mentions that her DS is playing with his penis "a lot," an American doctor might suggest circumcision because it could be a sign of (insert some reason here). It's not - it's normal.
      Cleaner myth. It's not.

@@blackpoolbarmpot That's complete Bullsh!t... Since 1996, the American Academy of Pediatrics' FULL reports, inclusive of its 2012 full report, reaffirmed in 2018, has been suggesting/recommending that MALE INFANTS AND CHILDREN BE LEFT INTACT so that THEY (the male person possessing the subject penis) can make the decision when/after THEY reach adulthood (age 18) and THEY can sign the surgery consent form themselves.
The alleged "benefits" have been refuted time and time again. The "risks" are that a son/s could die from the procedure, the circ could be botched, he could suffer skin-bridges, a horrible or misaligned circumcision scar, twisting/curving in any direction, early onset of E.D., etc.; these common damages have been "normalized" over the years. Only one person in 56 who saw this video liked it. It's not as biased towards cutting as most but it still makes the same basic mistake. Infant male genital cutting is UNNECESSARY and PERMANENT. That immediately means it is not for parents to decide, but the genitals owner, when he fully understands how his foreskin works and its value to him. Then he'll hardly ever decide to have it cut off for the rest of his life.

I agree. He does state that there is seldom a medical need yet he is hypocritical by saying there are some issues that might make it beneficial. Hiv statistics being one and religious excuses being another. This needs to be treated just like the rape it is by providing equal protection to infant males with the same protection given to females. Identifying circumcision as an adverse childhood experience would also confront the medical industry to admit how circumcision trauma effects early development.

What a lot of people don’t know is that the hospitals sell the baby’s foreskin to cosmetic companies to use in skin care. I work at a medspa and one of the products we sell has human foreskin in it as an ingredient. When I had my baby boy I told them repeatedly I did not want my baby to be circumcised. They asked me 15 different times if I wanted it done and then waited until my husband left the room and I was doped up on pain medication and they had the nerve to try and convince me when I was alone. It didn’t work and I told them to get the fuck out of my room but still it’s one of the reasons why people in the US push so hard for circumcising. It’s a business to them at your child’s expense. Kudos for standing your ground. Healthcare is no longer about doing what is right but rather doing what is profitable. The US is the only nation that healthcare pushes and pressure new parents so hard and yes it is despicable and disgusting. The foreskin is just as important for the female during intercourse. Removing the foreskin changes the mechanics which makes women more sore and less chances of having a vaginal orgasms...which feels awesome for her but makes her and her partner intimately closer. Without the foreskin the glans now pulls out the natural lubricate where a foreskin prevents that from happening. The benefits are soooo minimal it is mind boggling not to mention there are countless complications which are conveniently not tracked by hospitals or healthcare. What is even more appalling is the approximately 100 U.S. infants deaths annually from circumcision complications which is a completely elective surgery with no medical indications. And of course the trauma and pain putting a day old baby through. It is beyond me how a doctor can perform such an unnecessary surgery with no medical indication and then sleep at night. I guess you got to make those BMW lease payments somehow. That alone should be enough to never trust a doctor again.

So far haven't changed my mind and decided to not get the procedure done for them but if they want it done when they are older I'll gladly pay for it then. Adult circumcision in canada apparently is a 10 min procedure and roughly twice the cost so like 1000 to 2000 dollars. I feel the most comfortable with my sons making their own decisions as an adult. It is their body. I know a lot of families leave it up to the fathers to decide. It is mostly interns, residents, & in a growing number of hospitals, nurses are trained & allowed to do circumcisions on infant boys. They all want in on the action, & they cause lots of damage, most notably meatal stenosis. Many pediatric urologists entire practice & billings depend on correcting cases of meatal stenosis & other circumcision caused damage & pathologies. Very nice and balanced video. However, what you left out is the psychological impact, which may be far greater than previously known. There are several studies done about the psychological and psychosocial fall-out, as well as ethical considerations. More importantly, many men do not complain or talk about their feelings, an effect that is typical for PTSD and is also observed in victims of sexual abuse.
Also, a development since about 2010 is that more and more men actually do complain about their circumcision.
So there I do NOT agree with your statement that it's a difficult decision: I believe there is only one clear answer : circumcision should NOT happen without the express will and consent of the person in question. (Medical reasons account for about 0.5% of newborn boys).
The reason why active pedophilia is illegal is NOT because of the medical concerns (because there rarely is any), it's because of the trauma. Well, not only does circumcision harm the child psychologically, but also it inflicts pain and takes away a part of the body forever.
My conclusion is clear: circumcision is on the same level as sexual abuse.

I don't understand why this is even a topic for "discussion." It's barbaric and should be outlawed except for medical needs. Parents do NOT OWN their children. They do not have a right to cut off part of their body - even if their religion says so. The fact that people downplay this procedure and dismiss it as nothing special says more about their immorality than the procedure itself. I am so angry that my parents did this just to "look like all the other boys." I have a partner who describes the intensity of sexual pleasure with his intact foreskin that I am forever disallowed to experience. All for what? NOTHING. Nobody is going to see me except those that I choose. This needs to be outlawed. The fact that medical and religious leaders still say it's acceptable if XYZ chooses to do so for their son is nothing but assault and abuse on the child. We need to stop normalizing this ancient barbaric behavior. And don't start with the health and cleanliness issues argument. There are literally BILLIONS of uncircumcised men in the world who never have any issue with it. Normal hygiene is enough - no different than washing your hands or wiping your butt. The same people who say male circumcision is acceptable are the same ones who go ballistic when talking about female genital mutilation. Their hypocrisy is on full display.

Personally, I'd pay a year's salary rather than be circumcised or have my son circumcised. Why would I want the most sensitive and pleasurable parts cut off? That little bit of skin makes a big difference (it's not just there to cover the glans).
Why don't we just let everyone decide for themselves whether or not they want irreversible genital surgery? It's their body after all.

It's not like it can't wait. It's pretty much only the USA (at around 60% and dropping) and Israel where more than half of baby boys are circumcised. Other countries circumcise, but not till anywhere from the age of seven to adolescence. Only about 12% of the world's circumcised men were circumcised as babies. Around two thirds of the world's men (88% of the world's non-Muslim men) never get circumcised.
Drops in male circumcision since 1950:
USA: from 90% to around 60%.
    Canada: from 48% to 17%.
UK: from 35% to about 5% (about 1-2% among non-Muslims).
Australia: 90% to below 10% ("routine" circumcision is now *banned* in public hospitals).
New Zealand: 95% to below 3% (mostly Samoans and Tongans).
South America and Europe: never above 5%.

You could also mention that if "too much" skin is removed this can result in lifelong problems with no acceptable repair possible. Also the importance of no forced retraction of the foreskin is key.

Baby boys who are not circumcised face a 10-fold higher risk for urinary tract infection (UTI) in their first year than boys who are circumcised and a 23% increased risk of UTI through their lifetimes. The findings are from a meta-analysis of 22 studies that examined the single risk factor of lack of circumcision for occurrence of UTI.
Researchers determined the prevalence and relative risk of UTI for boys aged younger than 1 year, 1 to 16 years, and older than 16 years and from this data calculated lifetime prevalence.
They found the likelihood of UTI between birth and 1 year to be 9.91 times higher in uncircumcised boys compared with those who were circumcised; 6.56 higher for uncircumcised boys aged 1 to 16 years; and 3.41 higher for uncircumcised boys aged 16 and older compared with circumcised men.
Urinary tract infections include infections of the kidneys, bladder, ureter, and urethra and are more common in the first year of life. Adverse effects can include kidney scarring, fever, pain, and septicemia.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has stated that circumcision can reduce the risks for UTI, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and penile cancer, and that the health benefits outweigh the risk of complications from the procedure. However, AAP leaves the decision whether to circumcise up to the parents of the child.

So why put your son through irreversible surgery, unless you think the foreskin has no value. And that is the issue. That's why the EU still has a near zero infant circumcision rate. Doctors there can easily access the AAP data, but they respect their sons' right to keep all his body parts unless there's an actual medical need for circumcision, which there never is in infancy.
Also I noticed you left out the absolute risk of UTIs and just gave the relative percentage. As far as STDs, a guy can decide to get circumcised on his own informed consent when he's old enough to be sexually active, if he thinks it's worth the trade-offs. My name is Brandon. Born in Sept 1991, in Missouri, US. Before my realization. I thought "what is there to cut off? The head?...but I still have mine. Maybe I'm not circumcised after all!" was my thought process. It took till I was 21 to even GRASP and realize what really happened, and why I look so different than in porn (I'm a scalie so it's dragon porn. It's hard to understand but I'm glad it happened because I grew up very sexual repressed/frustration in a very religious upbringing). One day it clicked. The absolute rage hit me like a train, to say the least. Found out I was only 8 fucking days old (which of course that's exactly what the bible says, "...on the 8th day"). I'm nearly 30 and I LOTHE being cut. On a more positive note. I have been restoring on and off. So it's more than physical, it's mental, emotional, anger, hopelessness if not rage. I found restoring in 2014 and been doing it off and on but the problem is I didn't get more bands (low tension) which is likely the cause of poor gain. There certainly is improvement just now where near I have seen and lately, I have been getting very discouraged. NOBODY should ever have to go through this. I couldn't be more against it. I'm nearing IC-4 from IC-1/IC-2 (foreskin coverage range index). I have even become aware when I don't cover my head the friction is starting to become painful (dekeratinization) and I need to get more bands and keep it covered and under tension (it SHOULDN'T hurt). Advice? Do what makes YOU happy and don't think your feeling don't because I care. I have gone through it and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. it's YOUR body. Fuck circ and thoes who support. Egyptians were not open sexually, therefore it's felt as abnormal, and would be supressed and hidden.

There are so many dimensions of enjoyment connected to the male penis, not only to the man but also to his partner. As the wife of an uncircumcised man, I can attest to the beautiful nuances that the uncircumcised penis might provide to the female body during intimacy, in a way that compliments the many dimensions of a woman's body.
I weep as a grandmother whose little grandson is about to be circumcised, pandering to a tradition and culture of bygone days. And for what? Smh.
I wish wholeness for my grandson, for the full enjoyment of this beautiful part of his body. I advocate for the choice to be his to make. Tampering with something that's fully functioning and designed in order to satisfy societal, religious and cultural fickleness, makes me very upset.
A parents right should be to protect their child, to ensure that this person has all the necessities to survive infancy and beyond. Circumcision is not a necessity... its a human construct which does not view the rights of a child as a sacred thing.

      @kimmariebimmarie Před 2 lety +2

It’s very painful to infants and is unnecessary. We don’t cut girls labias off so their bodies are easier to clean, we just clean them with water. Whole baby boys are non retractable as the foreskin is fused on with the same kind of membrane that attaches a fingernail to the nail bed. Boys genitals only need to be wiped down like a finger as an infant and small child, until the skin becomes movable closer to puberty, at which time the membrane thins and wears away so it’s easily rinsed underneath in the shower.
Circumcised baby boys have a raw open wound in their diapers from where the foreskin was torn off the head of their penis before being crushed to seal off the blood vessels then sliced away. The bloody raw head of the penis needs ointment applied at every diaper change so it doesn’t scab up stuck to the diaper. Circumcision is an elective, cosmetic penis surgery that parents force on their newborns, usually because it was done to them or their partner. Only 1/3 of the entire world’s men were ever circumcised and the majority are for religious reasons. America is the only country that offers circumcision as a routine elective procedure, elsewhere it’s just known to be unnecessary. Foreigners are often shocked that we just cut parts off our boys’ penises here for the sake of tradition and old wives tales that it’s cleaner. Foreigners are usually aware that circumcision exists but assume that it’s a religious practice. Your baby will be in good company if you just leave him alone the way his mothers body made him.
Cutting him will cause him pain and discomfort in his first few hours, days, and weeks of life. It’s not necessary for cleanliness, especially in infancy. Doesn’t your baby deserve gentleness and kindness as a welcome to the world instead of being taken away from his mother’s arms, strapped down naked to a plastic board, then having the most delicate part of his body carved up while he’s awake to feel it?
When you were a brand new little baby, didn’t you deserve for someone to think of your comfort and keep you feeling safe, comfortable, and free from unnecessary pain? You can give that gentle, warm, painless and safe beginning to your baby. If he wants optional penis surgery later he can choose it for himself. Give him the choice you should have had. Let him experience his body the way nature made it. You should have never had your body cut or modified in a very private way by another person for no reason. People shouldn’t have the right to cut up other peoples private parts.

    • @headrat1
      @headrat1 Před 2 lety +8

Your foreskin has many functions and if you had more nerves you would have more sensation. Also all those nerves would still be transmitting signals back and forth between your brain and your genitals. Instead you were branded with the Egyptian mark of a slave and have scars on your genitals for life. The hormonal receptors that were once on your foreskin were also cut off and it's possible it was sold as medical waste to a cosmetics company to manufacture a facecream or injected for a penis facial.
It's sadistic and psychopathic to do this to an infant since it's highly traumatic at such an early stage of development. It's a hidden trauma and if you were trauma informed you would not allow anyone to do this to your infant. Take it from a fellow catholic this treatment of infants is evil fractures the state of undifferentiated awareness in the infant, causes a dissociation trauma and impairs secure attachment bonding.

Stephen, have you considered the possibility that, since you've been cut you're entire life, you don't know what you're missing? You say you've had no problems whatsoever, but what if the truth is that your sensitivity has been greatly decreased? You wouldn't know because you've never known anything else. So, maybe you didn't have infections, or scarring, or contractions, or skin bridges, or adhesions, but that doesn't mean you had "no problems whatsoever" if you've had a decrease in sensitivity. Maybe you don't care about your sensitivity, but I know that other men very much DO care.

Life was a challenge to say the least .. cleaning it was a NIGHTMARE and hurt a lot . I asked my mother why she didn’t do it earlier and the doctor said it was not necessary! Well I wish she did anyways but not her fault , personally even with all the pain of healing I’m glad it’s done and over with . sex life is great again , wife loves it , now more struggles of trying to clean it !
