How to make English Onion Gravy

- Traditional English Onion Gravy RECIPE
Ingredients: 1 Medium Yellow Onion
15g Butter/Margarine
1/2 tablespoon Oil
250ml Beef Stock
1 tbsp Plain flour
1/2 tbsp Oil
Black Pepper
Dash of Cider Vinegar or Lemon Juice.

I was going to make Toad In The Hole for dinner tonight but it was too hot. Didn’t want to turn the oven on. I made Bangers and Mash, with Onion Gravy instead. Delicious! Real comfort food! Take care Mr. Paul!

Love your videos.I remember when I did my National Service in the RAF (a century ago!) I was stationed at Linton-on-Ouse. A Yorkshire family invited me to dinner and that is the first time I had a plate of miniature Yorkshire puddings with onion gravy before the roast beef. Delicious!

Hi David, I hope I've explained clearly, it's quite a simple recipe, but you do need a little patience with caramelising the onions.

My dad told me to make gravy like this when I was a little boy now I'm in my late 50s but I did learn something from your recipe the vinegar part I've never done that I will now thanks for the tip

I live in Australia ,I bought Beef stock ,a well known brand .it was in a cardboard with a silver lining container..I used half and put the other half in the refrigerator . I used it 4 later That night I got very sick...For some reason I cut the top of the container off...To my surprise it had gone moldy . Since then I will not buy made up Stock ,only stock cubes.
