- In July of 2022 we set off from Deadhorse / Prudhoe Bay, at the very tippy top of Alaska on a long Bikepacking journey south. Episode 1 is from our first week on the Dalton Highway, up above the Arctic Circle.
I'm editing these videos as we go, but am a little behind as we only recently picked up a laptop and are currently trying to outrun winter! Anyway, we'd love it if you'd follow along and I can't wait to upload the next one.
This video is posted from Smithers in British Colombia, Canada.

About
In July 2022, we set off from the very top of Alaska on our bicycles, with the aim of spending the next few years cycling all the way down to the southern tip of Argentina - the entire length of the Americas. We are definitely not in any rush, and often opt to take the scenic, more remote routes where possible. Neither of us are cycle touring or bikepacking experts, but we are figuring all of that stuff out as we go. If you would like to follow along, please consider subscribing!

Let me know what you think! Its video 1 so I'm still very much figuring out what I want these videos to be, and I'd appreciate any comments or feedback!
Edit: Thank you so much for the feedback! definitely made a note to slow things down a bit. Bear with me as I figure out the right balance, I'll keep improving as we go
Liked and subscribed.
I too am an extra long haul bicyclist. Welcome to the club. I'll be watching. Ride safe. (6.5 years on the road. Too much advice to give so I won't bother.)
@@Truth_Yeah thank you!
@@jantelliquawallace355 thanks so much! and that is so awesome, following in your tracks! I find the best lessons you have to learn yourself
@@GregMcCahon undoubtedly excellent made video! Please continue
The trouble with these videos is that whilst they're undoubtedly beautiful and inspiring, they also elicit strong feelings that I'm really not doing enough with my life! Looking forward to following the rest of your journey.
The main reason I wanted to make these videos is because I felt the same thing while watching someone else's journey, and that's the thing that got me out here! - hopefully this series will serve as the same inspiration to someone else
Hahah what an honest comment. Me too!
Quick tip.
Start at Southern Cal.
Just saying.
I have started motovloging. i ride to mountains on my motorcycle. I am 54, i workout and I am fit. you should start motovlogging. life is short
That seems like a you problem. Just don’t watch the videos or go do more with your life, like tf
Memories ! I did the ride in 2007-2009, absolutely the highlight of my 60 years. After Ushuaia, I had a stunning experience catching an expedition ship to Antarctica, South Georgia, Falklands, Tristan de Chuna and Cape Town. Then rode up the east coast to Egypt. 3 years and 66 000 km.
thats INCREDIBLE! even Tristan alone would be a trip of a lifetime!!
That’s amazing!! What an incredible journey, very inspiring. Thanks for watching!
How do you fund such a long journey and where do you get cash from?
Incredible!
@@ninelaivz4334 savings I'm assuming
This video definitely has a different feel than other adventure bike touring videos I've seen. I really like it. Feels very real and organic, yet still cinematic. Good job.
Thanks so much! Trying to keep things fairly unpolished so as not to set the bar too high for myself haha
I loooved the video! I think i’d like hear more about you two. A bit more narrative of what brought you to the trail, your background and maybe what do your friends and family think. So yeah, take me into your story!
In the future, i’d love a tour of your bike. In another one you get explain how you figure out a route and where to stop or get water.
Good luck! I’m subscribing:)
Great suggestions, thanks so much Melanie!
yes to all of the Above!
And this is where it all began. Wow what a story you could pass on to friends and family
Love it!!! Way to go, my man. I can totally relate to losing the camera 😅
Thanks so much Ryan! definitely learnt my lesson on that one 😅
Just subscribed!!!! Loved your first video and honestly im sure anything you post will be AWESOME. Whats up Duzer!!!!I Love your videos too!!
Me to. Had to run back a mile and a half or so to retrieve my camera on a 50+ mile run. Those extra 2 miles up and down were not welcome on that length run
I love the laughs after such a long segment for your ride.
Reminds me of Iohan Gueorguiev the " Bike Wander " ! R.I.P !! Lov this video, it was adventurous to watch ! Thanks for sharing the adventure !
Iohan was (and still is) a huge inspiration for me and this trip! An incredible storyteller and adventurer. I really miss his uploads
@@GregMcCahondamn I remember, fortunately you are his legacy, I've just seen this recommended video, can't wait to see the entire video series
Greg! Omg. You speak!!! I just found Adrian bliss and have been binge watching. What an adventure! Happy trails!
haha I do! Thanks :)

Greg, I enjoyed your video. I have subscribed, and I'm looking forward to the next one. Wishing you both safe travels.
Awesome, thank you! Next one will be a good one!
To say that this was an emotional awakening is an understatement; your content reignited something long dormant in me - a raw, wild desire to leave it all behind and just go. I'ts not feasible now, but thank you, thank you, thank you. Cheers from KL Malaysia!
Just ran into your video, i guess because im from Argentina. I will follow your journey till you are here. You will love it. Good luck!
I’m so excited to get down there, I really think Argentina will be the highlight of the whole trip! Thanks for watching Ignacio
I watched this video at a friends last night randomly and looked it up today because I’ve felt so Inspired to do something like this… both of y’all’s determination and strength is truly so inspiring.
Cycled across U.S.A. from east to west 1979 -- people were so generous and opened their hearts and homes often
So excited for your journey! Thank you for sharing! We're cheering you on!

You are both going to have the adventure of a lifetime and lucky us. We can follow your journey with the changing latitudes. It'll be fantastic seeing the variety of scenery, people, weather, wildlife, culture and food......not to mention seeing how your equipment and attitudes hold out to this epic journey. keep safe.
This is amazing! I've done one bikepacking trip and I really hope that I'll be able to do more of them. Thank you so much for sharing your trip, I can't wait to watch the rest of these videos. Enjoy your journey
As someone who is thinking about taking up this challenge someday, I really appreciate your authenticity and low-key approach to filming this. It feels real, organic, and informative. I will say that I would love a little more information on the route, how far you bike every day, calories burned, etc. but overall great video! Stoked to follow along the journey!
This is the dream man. Planning on doing the divide next summer and seeing stuff like this makes so excited and gives me so much motivation.
Found your Too Cold to Camp video in my feed and now I'm catching up on your adeventure to Argentina. Wow! Thank you for sharing.

Holy hell this looks incredible. Really good can't wait to see more. In the future maybe a video on the logistics of how you are doing it, the gear, the prep, financial side of things and general advice for anyone trying to do something similar (though likely in much lower scale).

Fantastic video, I like the edit. Love that you show the rough weather too - not every shot needs to be beautiful sunshine.
I'd love to hear more about where you are going through - although I appreciate you didn't actually go through anywhere this one!
Really looking forward to seeing the series. Ride well!
