Most abandoned projects are from people who had no idea what they were getting into. Any work they attempted probably did more damage than good. Finding an abandoned project in this condition by someone who knew what they were doing is probably more rare than finding an original survivor.
My dad owns a 55 f100. Was a peach orchard truck from southern california. Put a 390 and c6 from a 68 murcury parklane.

A friend has a 1950 F1 survivor with running flathead still under the hood. No visible rust, brakes need work and original glass fuel pump was removed to repair and may be lost. It was stored in same barn since 1950 and never seen a barn find so clean. I think she is asking $16k as is but its not advertised. I'd buy it myself but looking for something heavier with modern drivetrain. I could never chop a survivor this clean.

I remember when yall got the old ford chassis and dodge undercarriage and power train and started it off but the show was dropped by the channel I could get it on by our cable company locally glad to see how it made out
Got mine, running and driving '54, for $9500. On an '83 F150 frame with 302 automatic and disc brakes.

I hope you can do a special on under coating on a old truck like that 53 or 54 Ford. I would like to see it on a full teardown restoration. I think it would bond better to sand blasted, prime, scuff and paint then apply the under coat?.
No undercoat, actual enamel paint. Undercoating absorbs water.

Why didn’t they sand blast and powder coat the frame?
Any idea where I can these parts? My dad gave on his build of the 55 started and just left it in the garage for about 10 years now, I want to start it back up.

I always had a issue with calling rust/oxidation ,"rot". That is a condition organic materials experience but a lot of people use the term.

Ford used that bed through '64.
Always cheaper buying a finished classic than building your own. Always. A 25-40k Chevelle usually cost 50k+ to build yourself.

A well built FE would work well with this truck.You suggested a 460,a 351C,or a 429 would work too.The aftermarket has stepped up for the FE & the 385 series engines so much recently. It's really a question of preference & money now.

@@merc-ni7hy The Mustang GT is a pretty good budget sports car, but not a cheap supercar killer like the Corvette. GM has almost always made better V8 engines than Ford.
