The crazy, the British. But how great! With wonderful music, enthusiastic people full of love for their country and an incomparable atmosphere. we poor Germans can no longer allow ourselves such honest patriotism, even if the post-war generation is not responsible for these terrible crimes of the Nazis. meanwhile we have been stripped of our identities and are being fooled by a corrupt government with no dignity or pride. I am all the more delighted with such images and hope that these enviable Britons will continue to proudly wave their flags.

Thank God for CZcams. I don’t know what this is all about, but it was exciting. I enjoyed the enthusiasm and patriotism of the Brits. We are fast approaching 2024 and many changes have occurred in both our countries since this event took place and I doubt that this event today would ring with such unabashed pride and patriotism. It’s not fashionable anymore.

He may be talented but is unwatchable due to his quite sickening and patronising theatricals.

Wow, this is the true national anthem, not that German dirge God Save the Queen.

Wonderful, and slower is better and does more right to the anthem, words and music.

Will we feel the same when Charles is king.

I will, I hope you will too. The Monarch represents us all, no longer rules over us. She/He protects us from politicians, a role reversal to be sure but would you like Tony Blair or Corbyn or Grove to be our overlord? God forbid. Let's be carefull of what we wish for!!

Yes any National Anthem MUST be about the NATION and NOT about an outdated monarchy

It may be a dirge but I cannot see what you mean when you say "God save the Queen" is german. The first man to publish it, Henry Carey in 1744 (roughly the same times "Rule Britannia" was written), was English; there is a French claim without evidence that they wrote it in the 1680s and there is a counterclaim that it dates from the early 1600s amongst the works of the English composer, John Bull. Beethoven quoted it much, much later in his "Wellington's Victory" (to represent the British victory over the French), was commissioned to write a set of keyboard variations on the tune in the early 19th century and numerous European states later adopted this anthem including the German Empire, Switzerland and Liechtenstein but its origin is definitely not german, so far as anyone knows.
