we love your channel & content. and of course I am a fan of psychedlics. you need to understand that by not covering permanent psychosis / brain damage in great detail made this seem too much like a paid endorsement for street drugs. kids lookup skid row, los angeles and you will understand the consequences of unprescribed drugs. this is a blatantly obvious issue that should be understood. in summary dont put unusual chemicals in your body at all.

Lab tested LSD is largely the reason I watch this channel. This incredible substance helped me destroy the illusory boundary between the mind and the body and pushed me towards understanding myself both physically and psychologically. From an obesed and depressed alcoholic to a lifeloving athletic learner thanks to a single trip. I'm sure for some this substance can be a catalyst for something mentally destructive but it helped me a lot.

Another psychedelic relic here from the 60s. I was a frequent flyer for a couple of decades & really only had one “bad trip” & one over dose out of more than 100 experiences. I will say briefly that the first handful of experiences were the most fundamentally perspective & consciousness altering one’s. After awhile, when I knew what to expect, the trips became more routine. Sort of a been there, done that situation. At that point I stopped using as I felt that I had accomplished what I wanted. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, I have taken more out of LSD than LSD has taken out of me. I feel that the psychedelic experience changed my life & perspective in a very positive way. I have no regrets only gratitude for the open doors of perception it allowed.

I've dabbled with LSD for around forty years now. Certainly not regularly but when the opportunities arose. Other than my first time (that was a rollercoaster of fun) I've always gone into the experience being fully aware of what was happening to my brain. I found it easier to control any onset of paranoia or other negative emotions.
I'm really happy that LSD isn't addictive. If it was, I'd be wandering around in a rainforest following rainbow pixies, with old-school Pink Floyd playing in my head, lost in a never-ending haze of hallucinations.

I have taken LSD 7 times in the last 10 years and it has done wonders for my mental health every time. My first dose was approximately in the 25 mcg range. I didn't really know what to expect, but everything just felt very intense. Once I passed the peak of the trip, I found myself enjoying a video game like I never had before. About a month later, I tried something between the 50-100 mcg range. This had a profound effect on me. For the first time in decades, I felt connected to the world instead of feeling detached. For weeks after, I felt more present and eager to engage with life. I took walks, I went to my local coffee shop and chatted with people, and I started eating healthy.
LSD is hard to find, so those effects eventually wear off. I sincerely believe that a trip every 4-6 months would have a tremendous benefit to me. A decade later, I took LSD with the intention of examining and getting rid of bad habits. This lead me to quit smoking cigarettes and discontinue my habit of getting drunk every weekend.
LSD is certainly not for everyone, but it should without a doubt be available with a prescription.

I think that people who have "Bad Trips" have them because they brought along their own pre-existing emotional baggage on their journey. LSD is NOT alcohol! It is NOT a CNS depressant. It does not make you forget your problems. LSD AMPLIFIES your brain. If you are happy and in a good place emotionally and are surrounded by loved ones, you will have a BEAUTIFUL trip. If you are depressed, sad and surrounded by people that you neither like nor trust, you will have a BAD trip.

It's encouraging to see rational, educational discussions about LSD, such as this episode and the documentary "How to Change Your Mind" on Netflix, which explores the therapeutic benefits of mind-altering substances like LSD, MDMA, psilocybin, and mescaline. I grew up in the era when government propaganda was aimed at inducing fear of using LSD, especially fear of flashbacks erupting without notice and severe breaks with reality. Nothing about "set and setting" and proper dosage. When Congress passed the Controlled Substances Act, they did a major disservice to patients who could have benefited tremendously from these drugs in a therapeutic setting.

You touched on something I always tell people who are thinking of taking lsd. You wanna be in a familiar place and like on a day off where you have no responsibilities that day. Your brain is going to be working overtime and you're gonna be on this ride for the next 8 hours. And while I always enjoyed being completely unable to comprehend that tomorrow exists, some folks might struggle with it.
But sitting on the porch on a sunny day watching the trees sway in the wind becomes the most zen experience imaginable and I always feel like a new man for a few days after.
And while you do feel happy while tripping, it's not a "body high" like alcohol or grass. You have all your sense and can still walk and stuff.

A lot of folks knew Albert Hofmann better than I did. But at the age of 97, Albert invited my wife and me to his home, and we spent a long afternoon together. Albert told us we were the first people, outside of family and lifelong friends, that he’d invited into his home in over 20 years. Made us feel very special, and lucky.
Of course, being a longtime fan of LSD I engaged the fantasy of Albert giving me a bit of his stash. What he did, instead, was get me drunk on his homemade plum schnapps. Being a teetotaler all my life, I put that practice aside and drank 2 glasses of his brew (mine and my wife’s, who did enjoy alcohol but the gasoline taste of Albert’s schnapps was too much) and got ore than a bit tipsy. The irony of it all!😂
Our afternoon with Albert and his wife Anita will forever be one of the most interesting of our lives. We spoke of so many things that afternoon, and the time flew by quickly. Albert was a sweet, funny and caring man.
I collect art. But one of my most favorite pieces is the photo my wife took of me kissing Albert on the cheek as we stood in his backyard, just before leaving. I surprised him with it, as the big grin on his face reveals.
I’m 73 and have continued enjoying psychedelics for over 53 years. And it all started with taking 300ugs of Orange Sunshine - the best LSD ever made, in my experience - in an Ohio state park on a beautiful summer day, in 1970. It was the beginning of my lifelong love affair.
As an aside, I interviewed Nick Sand (the man behind Orange Sunshine, who I met at the 2006 International LSD Symposium/100th birthday party for Albert, in Basel) on my now-silent internet talkshow, The Opium Den, back in 2009. The interview can be found all over the internet, posted on hundreds of different sites, and is considered, almost unanimously, as his best ever. It’s over an hour long. Check it out.

I really wish that the USA education and legal system treated these topics more objectively, truthfully, and give the full context of how these things came to be, the history and actual safety of its use, including medical and scientific research into its effects, rather than attempting to indiscriminately instill fear into students' minds.

I went through a fairly brief period of doing LSD in psychedelic doses on a fairly regular basis. It seems like that's when I started noticing that sound has a taste. I'm not sure if LSD precipitated my synesthesia or if I had it before but LSD helped me be calm and focus on it so I could fully experience it. I can still taste sound when I'm very physically relaxed but actively listening and focused - even though it's been decades since my last trip. It's glorious!

There are substances used as 'trip killers' which can rapidly reduce the impacts of psychedelics. So having something like this available can be a good idea if one is fearful of a 'bad trip' and being able to have your trip sitter give you the 'antidote'. Saying that, the so-called 'bad trip' experiences are usually the ones which teach you the most.

Yea, another veteran flyer here. Thanks for being real about the drug. My experience has been that the bad trip issue is , every time Ive encountered it personally or in a friend, has been due to allowing oneself to get stuck in their 'anxiety closet'. The thing is the person has more control of their mind than they realize and can steer their attention away from that place into the wider experience. It may take the help of a trusted, more experienced user. Especially early in the trip.
Beyond that I have to say my introduction to it helped me grow and understand aspects of . . . thinking and the universe I am thinking in that would have not come for a very long time otherwise, if ever. And as others have said, It kinda told me when I had gotten about all it had to show me. At least foer a very long time. Around 50 It may have been worth a trip to reevaluate life from that perspective again. Not an easy thing to find at 50, in my experience. My trusted friends just arent connected anymore.

I have taken a small amount of LSD every weekend for about 3 years. In small amounts like half a tab it can give you unmatched gratitude, perspective and empathy for others. It can show you what you need to see within yourself and in the world around you. Through one trip that i guided her through for only about an hour i was able to completely eliminate my girlfriends pot of 10+ years addiction. Music is absolute magic to me and i make $150,000 a year at the moment flipping cars and working my full time job here in sydney. In small amounts it is absolutely incredible. However in large amounts it can make you a hippy, who is just an unproductive member of society, outcasted and a drug addict. I hate that acidheads give LSD such a bad name.

I went to a Grateful Dead concert in 1984. We had no clue about the scene before going. After getting about 20 feet into the line for parking, we were inundated with people selling 'doses'. They'd hold up t-shirts and other products then say "doses'. We had no idea what they were talking about. It was just the beginning of an eye opening experience. We got into a time machine and went back to the 60s.

I had many great experiences with it until I didn't. One bad trip set off anxiety that took almost a decade to truly subside, maybe I could've sped up the healing process with therapy, but I avoided it. Despite that, I am generally happy that I had all the experiences I did, even the "bad" one.
You don't need me to remind you that it is wise to consider dosage, set, setting, who you're with, and so forth, so I won't. Mainly I hope that this substance, like many others, gets declassified so we can have more research and create ways for people to experience it while knowing that what they are taking is clean and accurately dosed.

@@timdaniels2100 When I was in a community college back in the day, our very small class had the coolest professor. He wasn't much older than us but seemed very worldly and full of deep insights into life as we were experiencing it. He also had the most beautiful, charningly confident girlriend you could imagine who was also a student in our progressive class. The girls in the class lusted after the prof and the guys after his girlfriend.
As the semester wound down, we had a class party. I brought some acid I obtained regularly from a source in a local univeristy lab. I gave some to about half the class who were interested including the prof and his long time girlfriend. The prof outdid himself with his entertaining, witty manner and dominated the party atmosphere keeping our attention on him for much of the night.
A couple of days later when we met up for the final class, we all talked about how great the night had been with everyone having very different but very favorable takes on what they experienced that night. Except .....for the prof and his girlfriend.
She was not there but had told her friends there that she wanted nothing to do with the prof, the class or even most of the students. Apparently, when they got home after the party, something pretty terrible had happened. The prof acknowledged as much and that it was his fault. He told me later in that final session that I had given him bad acid which he believed was the cause for whatever unmentionable thing happened. He definitely was not naive about acid and previously reveled in his status as being more exprienced and with more understanding of how to use psychodelics for personal benefit.
The girl left the college and the prof left the profession. We never saw either one again leaving all of us with no clue about what had transpired. That outcome was one of the strangest things I ever experienced. Of all the people I sort of kept an eye on duirng that party, they were the absolute last ones I thought might possibly need a little attention of any kind.
For me, that period of taking acid ended forever a previous life of extreme, life destroying alcohol abuse. However, when it comes to acid....you just never know.

That dose was discernible as a feeling of energy, of internal vibration, not unpleasant.
It was definitely not the head-space stimulation of coffee or tea.

My first trip was great. I didn't overdo it and also smoked a bit of a joint along with the acid. It was amazing, I was laughing at everything and time just took FOREVER to move. It felt like HOURS have passed, when in reality it was only a few minutes. I heard things in my favourite songs that I've never heard before and making love felt incredible.
Then, the second time, my brain started to trip too far and started wondering where do we come from, where does the universe begin and end and what is there after that "end". If there is a forever end to the universe, then is there a forever end to life and to energy and so, what, once we die, will we inevitably stop existing forever and crazy shit like that. I had panic attacks for over a year after that and had those famous "death obsessed thoughts" and it was terrible. That was more than 10 years ago and honestly I've been scared to trip on acid ever since. I fear psychedelics because it's like you never know where they are gonna take you. And if you smoke a joint that was too strong, you can have a bit of a bad trip for 30-60 minutes and that's it. You drink some pepsi, have a good sleep and laugh about it the next day. Whereas with acid, that shit is not gonna let go and have you, possibly, bad tripping the whole night and have you wake up crying the next day. I understand not everyone's experience is like mine, but man, sometimes a "let's have some fun" thing can end up being really hard on your brain. Just be mindful of that.

yeah LSD kinda works in a way where it just starts a "feedback loop" with your feelings and thoughts. What feels nice, feels good, feels great, and on and on, because you're "hyper aware", or focusing a lot on how good that sensation feels.
If something slightly bad happens, it can also send you in this feedback loop. Sometimes nothing even happens, a mere thought, or memory of something, can send you into a panic attack (this can of course also happen when you're sober, but lsd facilitates a lot). That's why I don't like to mix weed and lsd, as weed makes me slightly more paranoid.

    • @kalebjacobs111

I have had several terrible trips off of weed alone where for an hour or longer I feel electric shocks going through my whole chest & abdomen which was almost enough to make me quit although instead I’ve just cut back a decent bit. I’ve had 2 bad trips off of psychedelics, once was when I showed up to a buddies place already on them and there was a whole different set of people there that were supposed to be there-including someone I didn’t really like and the music started seeming louder to the point where I couldn’t hear people then the wifebeater shirt I was wearing felt like it was suction cupped onto my body- my senses became hypersensitive & I had to sit on a staircase trying to calm down although I was losing it which lasted 30m-60. BUT THEN Off of 3.66g of trinity mushrooms(one of the most potent out there) along with smoking a high potency cannabis called AlbinoZilla I had an experience which felt like no other BY FAR. I felt like I was in a totally different universe tho I was just at home with my mom & sister. I had an extreme heart rate, gasping for breath, not understanding anything, my own family scaring me left & right bc of how frightening they looked, I also was convinced that they were trying to kill me with poison or something considering and didn’t want to eat what they were giving me- I tried biting an apple and immediately spit out bc it tasted sooo sour. I practice regularly in something called ‘yoga nidra’ & my mom tried putting the headphones on my head and getting me to do the practice but the sounds were so overwhelming that I threw the headset off and a bit aways. This lasted tho gradually got lessened through a course of four-ish hours. I’ve had realizations off of shrooms before but this was much more extreme. I genuinely thought 100% I was going to overdose. When I looked at my mom it kept looking like she was bawling her eyes out so I thought she knew I was a goner. I also forgot to mention that once I started tripping I went downstairs to the basement which is my room and within a minute or so I was sprawled onto the side of my bide in a super awkward position but I felt like I couldn’t move. I’m also asthamatic and could not find my inhaler although I never use it anyways unless maybe long distance running. The thought of smoking weed everyday which I do along with my inhaler and the prescription bottles I have from past medicines in my closet made me feel like a fucking loser & just a test patient to the companies. Let me add too that before this all went down, I was about to longboard downtown to watch the sunset, if not home- I think I would have died or atleast bin arrested bc I felt out of control. Long story short, hah, be careful, seriously, anyone.

Switch to mushrooms, my friend. Obviously you still won't be insulated from the bad trip possibility, but mushrooms (to me) offer a more organic and personal experience. I have had a bad trip on a standard dose of mushrooms, one out of maybe 10 trips in my life. And the only reason I could come up with for it's origination was that I rushed the experience. I had a 4 day weekend coming up and so I planned to do it then, and forced it up on myself. Traditionally, I wait for that calling, the urge to dose. I strong armed myself into dosing when I wasn't ready, and I suffered for it.
Overall I enjoy the effects of mushrooms more, and the shorter duration of 4 to 6 hours makes it a better weekend drug than LSD. Although in my younger days I definitely enjoyed LSD

I only took lsd twice back in the 60's the first time I took 3 1/2 hits. I had no idea what I was doing. Had an extremely harrowing trip. Was taken to the psych ward because no one knew what to do with me. For years I couldn't even talk about it without being terrified of the memory. Over time (years) it lessened and I was finally able to calmly reflect upon my experience. This is somewhat a cautionary tale and with that please use care. I've heard about ppl using a trip sitter - probably would have been helpful...but it was the 60's 🤷‍♀
Now the upside. Today I consider it one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I wouldn't trade it for any other experience. It's taken years to unravel the symbols and metaphorical language of my lsd trip. I'm lucky to have lived through it and come out the other side.

Especially MAOI or SSRI with a/multiple serotonin agonist(s). I would love to see a deep dive into the function of serotonin (physiological and psychological) and the effects of improper serotonin function in the brain. I believe this field of research may help us find better alternatives to currently marketed antidepressants and anticonvulsants. There may also be other experiments involving radio labeling of psychedelics to trace neurological and metabolic pathways contributing to different physical and mental illnesses. Similar to the radio tracing of the human 5HT receptor system using radio labeled NBOMe in the early 2000's, hopefully with a higher incidence of safety. As a teenager in the early 90's, I took LSD around 50 times over roughly a two year period and I never once experienced a bad trip. I took 5 hits during two of those instances, so the total dosage I consumed was probably near or around the 1,000 microgram range.
Visual hallucinations were very pronounced in my peripheral vision which led me to believe others were performing actions they were not. Visual hallucinations based on direct observation were less ambiguous and consisted of objects appearing as if I was viewing them through rippling water. Interestingly, I could not close my eyes and simply see nothing because abstract visuals would instantly appear and continuously morph between either kaleidoscopic images, intricate tiling patterns which would move and slide around, or absurd animated cartoons.
But the auditory hallucinations were on a whole other level and absolutely lifelike... over and over throughout the night, while my attention was directed elsewhere, I repeatedly responded to comments I believed my friends had made when in reality nobody had said anything. LSD is a fascinating drug.

Youngin here (22), I enjoy LSD and Psilocin quite a bit. Most i've taken at once was 10 tabs of LSD, and most i've done in a night was 14 tabs and 4 grams of mushies. Let me tell you I visited the Andromeda galaxy that night. LSD has to be one of my favorite substances to take, there's nothing quite like taking 3 gel tabs and blasting off. @Implosion-Gaming Před 7 měsíci

Psychosis comes through learning about new stimuli and your brain being unable to cope with this stimuli. Drugs can force a person to experience these stimuli to cause a chain of events in the brain to allow a phenotype to show, so if a person was destined to be shizophrenic, the drug would allow the person to experience symptoms much sooner, therefore leading the person to live schizophrenic afterwards with medicine to help. This is sadly not the norm and only happens if the person taking the drug has underlying mental health issues that aren't treated prior to the drug being taken. Thats why a lot of people enter a fugue state on lsd, because they cant process their emotions so they lash out on everything around them. This has been studied to occur on people who dont have mental illness as well, but the bad trip can force a person to have ptsd about what occurred and that is a form of mental illness. Basically, dont mess with drugs if your brain chemistry is already altered in some form through birth or current drugs being taken.

Schedule one means extreme potential of abuse and no possible medical use, which is definitely not the case with psychedelics. Funnily enough, neither alcohol nor cigarettes are scheduled.

Hell, 1000s of people die every year from smoking, and tobacco and those are all bad for you, and don't do much - especially cigarettes. So If anything LSD should be something you could get behind a counter and alcohol should be on the schedule list. LSD can do some great things for you and you can't really overdose on it. Not to mention the mental effects. LSD was made illegal to fight the hippies cause Nixon knew they voted against him, and couldn't make protesting illegal. Before that it was totally legal.

Had a broad of experiences while tripping
Most of them pleasant but I had several bad trips and experiences where I felt like I was dying, as well I think I experienced the so call “ego death”
Definitely is NOT something that I encourage you to try BUT I did my homework before my first ever trip and I enjoyed so badly
Cause I’m a musician, I mostly trip to have a deeper experience with the thing that I love the most, tripping with my favorite music while on acid
As a side effect, I think I have made me mature a little bit more, have a more complex viewpoint about life and social relationships and my trips had encouraged me to keep working for my dreams and being a better human being
As an artist, I think that now I have a deeper insight about music composing, performance and appreciation that have made me a much much better guitar, bass player / singer so definitely I got what I wanted from my trips
As a highlight from my several trips, I ended up bursting in to tears several times, wether as an emocional catarsis as for the beautiful overwhelming experience of listening to the music that I love the most (classic rock form the 60s/70s/80s)

I'm not advocating for recreational use but I feel like it can help with healing from brain injury/after effects of brain surgery, reformatting intelligence, etc. In high school I did LSD a couple months after I had right temporal lobe brain surgery to treat my epilepsy. It helped heal my brain in the most unique way possible. I initially took an IQ test and scored at 90 probably because my brain was healing. Now I'm in college I notice more direct routes of thought at a faster speed and I recently took an IQ test where I scored 138 so I feel like fluid intelligence is tunable. I noticed that I'm not completely in tune with my feelings but I "fill my glass" by tapping into other's via my "expanded consciousness bubble" even though I'm sober and can communicate with those that are under the influence a lot easier for some reason. I can read and predict feelings, actions, words, situations playing out in base reality before they even happen. I also think I understand my position in the universe and I notice patterns of intelligence in nature/human interaction.

Although I was happy to just settle with pot, I was still getting dosed by friends and family. It took me 10 years to become somewhat functional again. Out of all the psychedelics I've done I think LSD is the most practical for therapeutic use (in our current western medical paradigm). Ayahuasca & mescaline are probably my favorites, definitely the most consistently profound, even regardless of set & setting. There is just so much variation as far as psilocybe mushrooms go but the pure indole alkaloids (my favorites are 4-aco-dmt & 4-ho-mipt) can provide very fearless, beneficial experiences. Ketamine & other dissociatives are the most abusable because of tolerance-related issues but provide an instant & short duration psychedelic headspace that can be on par with the deepest depths of an ayahuasca trip.

i find that mushrooms are far more effective for treating my depression and anxiety than LSD is, i've done a lot of both. LSD can certainly be therapeutic, but i find that my trips on it arent very introspective, and are usually more fun and energetic. lsd usually results in me enjoying hobbies, or spending time outdoors in nature, but not a whole lot of thinking about my problems unless i force myself too. i've had some majorly healing moments on lsd but i find that mushrooms tend to be much more introspective and ultimately result in more long lasting, major positive changes to my psychology. usually i spend my time on mushrooms in my room, lying around and thinking about my life and stuff, simply due to the different type of intensity mushroom trips have they are much more sedentary, with lsd you're in the drivers seat and with mushrooms, you aint. there is a lot of variance between strains, but every type of shroom i've had resulted in the same general healing benefits. i've had a lot of great conversations on both, but i still would have to hand it to mushrooms there for being the most impactful, for both me and whoever i was talking to. i've had amazing success helping both myself, and strangely even moreso other people when tripping on mushrooms. i've helped a lot of people see things from a different perspective that way, sharing the wisdom i think of it as.
