For my money, there's nothing harder than D&C when that 3-pack power chord slams in (like right after "chin wag so much when I send you the bill" for example), and the hardest one of them all is right after Bonzo's crazy drum fill over the top of the end of Page's guitar solo @6:46 here. Even with the volume down that thing just IS loud -- and HARD. No drums in the first 2 lines, then huge drums for the last 2.
Now tell me what anybody (including LZ) has ever done that hits harder than that.

If you thought that the studio version of this song was a banger. Than you really need to checkout the 27 minute live version at Madison Square Garden that's on a whole different level. Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock/blues band. There is more banger tunes: Since I've Been Loving you, Whole Lotta Love, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, just name a few.

The transitions and breakdowns of this song are excellent, but the soulful "call back" between Plant & Page in this track are what made them Legendary! Your reaction at the beginning is to obviously the voice itself--but Robert Plant knows HOW to sing a song--it's all about phrasing. The emphasis/de-emphasis of certain notes, slower/faster tempo, change from major to blues scales for some notes, etc. That, with the voice, is what is getting you...as it did us back then and now (and with some singers now--alot of people have voices and range, but don't know how to sing).

I bought this album when I was 13. Thought all music after would be this epic. Imagine my disappointment.

Glad you found it remastered. Much better sound. This one is a classic though. It comes from the pre Zep days when Page was playing for The Yardbirds. Much better version than the Yardbirds though.
