He has more passion than everyone in ESC combined! He is the only one in ESC who is the author of the text, music and arrangements and a performer. He has no 18 authors behind him, like some singers, nor money. He recorded the video with his girlfriend, grandmother, friends and relatives. A text that everyone can identify with. Humane, humble, worked with children with special needs, has a shelter for cats...in short, a wonderful young man!!!
In the end, he wrote the lyrics for the album of the band Mono Inc., "Ravenblack", which reached the first place in the official German listenership chart, and Marko received an award for this achievement.

It's very clever - it's a proper song dressed up as a joke one so appeals to all expectations!
And it also deals with a proper life issue - leaving the nest and family unit!!
This song is about the feeling of leaving his country, family, friends and going abroad. The Yugoslavian diaspora was insane after the war in the 90s but it is even more nowadays as more and more people are leaving again to go in Germany, Italia, Austria or France. My parents leave their country in the 70s. All my cousins are now leaving as well and most of the villages are full of oldies. And yes indeed most of my cousins have sold their cow to pay their studies.
This song was a reserve song in the Croatian qualification and we are lucky to listen now as an artist had given up the qualification. As soon as it popped Baby Lasagna absolutely unknown became the Cinderella of the all country by winning the qualifications for eurovision, smashing the other contestant with the public vote.
If you like this song vote for Baby Lasagna as this song define what Eurovision is supposed to be. United by the Music.
I suggest you guys to listen as well Lithuania, France, Ireland, Ukraine, Israël, Belgium, Estonia and Holland. Even if Holland is about to be disqualified as the singer show his sympathy for the Palestinian cause (As Belgium who might have been rejected in the Semi).

Croatia has a positive migration soldo in 2022 and 2023 and therefore more people are moving in than emigrating. People have been returning disappointed in recent years from Germany and this is a song about going from village to city, not about leaving the country.

I just did an basic analysis of the lyrics
and there are 59 separate words
including "rim", "tim", "tagi", "dim" and "woah"
(which make up over half the words spoken)
It is therefore accessible to many non-English speakers
across Europe
combined with the rhythm that runs throughout.
It has a very high winner rating in my estimation.
The song sticks in just one Key, E. And the lyrics are just too repetitive. Its a childrens song at best. But whatever floats the Eurovision European boats I guess. Low rating by me. But I am not European.

are classical and hardcore punk rock so
I view the Eurovision Song Contest as a ethnographic study LOL
The rules of the competition are three minutes max per song
no more than six people on stage during the performance
the vocals must be live - though the rest can be backin g tracked
So getting as many people to vote for you means: in effect:
1) the lingua franca of Europe is used i.e. English
as more folks understand that than say Finnish or Estonian
were less than 1% of the voter will understand it.
2) That there needs to be a catchy riff or refrain that people can sing along
or dance too.
3) Complex or interesting music will be be unlikely to do well
in the national competitions nor the semi-finals
nor the grand final.
Ifind it interesting and amusing to watch as a spectacle before
returning to my usual fare of music which I find interesting and enjoy.
@@johncrwarner I've been watching and following Eurovision for over 30 years. And I'm not even European. I feel qualified to make information correct comments about the songs entered in this competition, having picked many of the winners.
The standout songs for me this year were;
Ukraine
Israel
Switzerland
As their stage productions and singing performances were all extraordinary.
Eurovision voting can become extremely political, and based solely on a songs popularity.
No question I saw, with many other Eurovision fans, the popularity of Croatia's song.
But, Croatia's song did not look like a Eurovision winning song. Its stage presentation was a mess, and completely incongruent with the songs message. Pirate costumes? Thrash metal costumes? The song was sung badly, just shouting in some sections. And far too repetitive. A novelty Eurovision song at best, as I've commented eleswhere in youtube.
- I completely disagree with most of your "3" requirements for a successful winning Eurovision song.
2. "has to have a catchy riff you can dance to....NO, it can be a dance song, but the song has to appeal to all people and have a strong emotional component to its performance.
3. "Complex or interesting music won't do well....NO, there have been any complex Eurovision winning songs, songs that create a strong emotional connection with the audience, can be complex, if they tell a good story.
There just is NO real story with Baby Lasanges Novelty song, he starts a story, but it goes nowhere, except into repeat. Like a childrens song.

This constant droning of “rim-tim-TAgi-digi-dim-tim-TAgi” not only adds an extra spark to the common 4-4 size but also reminds me of acapella rock band Van Canto where modulated voices replace guitars with the same phrases (check Van Canto’s cover for Metallica’s Battery for example!). I think that Rim Tim Tagi Dim is a masterpiece because it seems to be really simple only for the first few replays😂

Croatia was, attempting, a Kaarija Cha Cha Cha novelty dance song this year (copying their music note for note). But it wasn't good enough to win. As with Belgium's attempt that year. These types of songs do not connect with Eurovision voters in any sort of emotional way. They never do.
@@Mexxx65 it's not a copy, even Kaarija said so in an interview... it's the same genre for sure... although Baby Lasagna is a huge fan of Ramstein, same genre as well... BL made a mix of industrial metal, rock, electronic, rap and Croatian folklor ( involved in music, outfit and dance moves ). Btw, he won televotes, pretty big as well. He is the author, singer, and made an official video by himself and with a help from friends and family. He is going to be big real soon because he has talent for the music.
