Yea, don't go to shops for trade or sales unless you have to or just want to support the shops. Most fair vendors at card shows (at least in Iowa) will give anywhere from 70 to 80 for cash and anywhere from 70 to 90 for trade. It's a shame these card shops feel like they don't have to compete with these rates because the card shows are temporary.
Are any cards from the normal packs at stores for sale have a chance at any cards worth money? Like Sword and Shield Lost Origin, Silver Tempest. Or Scarlett and Violet Paldea Evolved?
Also are the McDonald's Pokemon cards, unopened boxes, or full sets? Or all of those mainly low money cards? With only the older not available in normal store packs?
Most card resale booths at places like this and a lot of resale in general will give you 80% of retail price for anything so they can make money. If someone doesn't like it they can sell it themselves. It takes time to sell big dollar collectibles like that so most people will take the 20% markdown to quick sell it.
That blastoise looks awesome
151 artwork is awesome
Wow dude 80 percent is an insane number I’m a big magic player and shops give 60-65 if you’re lucky
Exactly

New to the card community. Is it standard to do 80% on a transaction in which you’re just buying the cards?

I do 80% but it’s not very common. Typically vendors are less

You can lookup the card list for any set. The trick is figuring out which set has pulls that will go up in value faster than the others
