There isn’t much variety in a grilled cheese when the recipe is just bread and cheese, it’s understandable why a lot of people add meat, even if it’s not a grilled cheese anymore
Truthfully, you can add all kinds of stuff to it, But it still has to be primarily cheese to be a grilled cheese. I like to cut up Ham into small cubes fry them up and throw them in my grilled cheese with a tiny bit of bacon bits.
By the way, if you add anything that isnt the basic ingredients (bread, cheese, butter/mayo) to a grilled cheese, its no longer a grilled cheese, its a melt.
They've just ruined a childhood food treat for the many children out there, next they're going to open a restaurant with gourmet peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or gourmet egg salad sandwiches. 😂😂😂😂

Still find ways to use it all up but it's easier if you simply go out. Jack in the box makes a garbage grilled cheese but I've had maybe 200 over the years because I'm just there and it's a beautiful side ( they not big ) to have with your meal if you a bigger person like me and 2 burgers just seems a bit heavy for that specific meal.

Just have 2 slices of bread, butter, 2 slices of provolone, 1 slice of muenster and put it in the toaster with the top bread off. Take it out when you want and mix Mexican sour cream and sriracha, put it on the grilled cheese and put the top bread on and that’s my grilled cheese
