I have been heavily watching all of your videos since discovering this channel a few days ago. I would be very excited to see more long form lore based content.
Just binged every short on your channel! You make lore content more interesting than anyone else and it really clicks in shorts. I had no idea Orcs are psychic and literally materialize whatever they believe, they are just too dumb to direct that power to be more powerful than every other race. Also cool they were created by space frogs to fight Necrons. Keep it up the shorts are ridiculously entertaining and I know that content doesn’t monetize well but it’s a good funnel to your channels longer content. Cheers man!
Bro, I read part of a codex years ago and saw the ultramarines movie that true fans do not like and I was sold on the rich lore. Your shorts have reignited my curiosity and love for the lore as I have been consuming all 40k content on youtube for the past 4 days like the hunger of the Tyranids. Thanks for the amazing content! Keep it up, bro.

Might consider looking more into the series, though not all of it of course but I'm here for a good time not a long time PS:love the short vids man keep it up, you might have given me new hobbies to do

I had no idea there were that many books. From what I've seen of the Lore, my only issue is that there is no 'ray of hope' of ending the dark age. but, I'm a newbie and still learning the base Lore of the universe. Great channel and very informative for folks just looking around and going 'What is that, it looks interesting'.
I just wanted to say that it has been a bit difficult for me to break into warhammer as a woman… I was always interested in the universe vaguely, and really enjoy painting dnd minis, but could never really find a way to start with Warhammer. This video is so good!!!! I love the simple explanation of the table top game and other ways to play (crusade sounds awesome!!) and I can’t wait to check out the books and other media. Thanks so much and keep up the videos- I love the shorts and the longer format ones are just as good :) I’m hooked on this lore!
Don't miss this one: czcams.com/video/B0Z4i1Sl94g/video.html&feature=shares I'm new too and this has been really good and to the point, with interesting visuals, fast-paced but comprehensible.
About novels in warhammer 40k that I like: The night lord by Simon Spuriel. The Inquisition cycle from Dan Abbnet and the Gaunt Ghosts cycle from him. Roman 15 hours and the dead are coming. And I also like the novel Junction (its events take place on necromund). I also recommend any fan of warhammer to read the novels written by Ian Watson - these are the Space marine novels and the trilogy about Inquisitor Jacques Draco - Inquisitorial wars. In my country, these books were published in the 90s with a disgusting translation, which is why I read them comically today + these are the very first works of fiction on the warhammer 40,000 universe and they were written during the first edition of the desktop warhammer, so their canonicity is a little doubtful, but many things have not changed much since then and I can even believe in the realism of these works in about 36 millenium. And also try to read Helsrech by Aaron Dembsci Bouden !
I want to get into Warhammer 40k after watching your shorts and seeing similarities and differences to Warhammer Fantasy Lore, which I know a few things about. So thanks for making this great video
My first interaction with 40k was the game Dark Crusade, around 15 years ago or so. I never knew there was an entire universe around it until like 5 years ago. Love your videos.
Ive never read a book, never played the tabletop game, but Luetin got me into 40k lore. Its amazingly interesting and _you_ make _great_ shorts. But keep making longer videos like this! Great job, my man!
Having a great time binging your content, been slow burning short content and slowly getting into the community. Not really flush with cash so I’m not so sure about playing the full size tabletop but the lot is absolutely addicting right now. You are for sure an absolute pleasure to watch though and I’m excited to hear more from you.
Hey thanks a lot I really appreciate that! And don't worry you're not alone, I think according to their surveys only like 11% of the fan base plays the tabletop game. The books are really good, and the narrators they use for the audio versions are on point!
I’m telling you not once in my entire life have I never heard of war hammer but you have truly shown me the glory and beauty of this amazing franchise, you sir are amazing 😄
Hey Wes, no lie: I was scrolling through CZcams shorts and one of your assassin school shorts (Eversor or callidus) was the first warhammer video I had ever watched in my life. Prior to that, warhammer was just some game I knew existed. Now I wanna read books and dive in to the lore. Thanks man, keep up the content!
I remember trying to get into Warhammer Fantasy during High School, waaay back in the early 2000s. One small Imperium 'army' (more like a platoon alongside a Steam Cart) costed me a kidney, half my soul, food, and put me in debt. As much as I wish I could play even now, 20 years later, my bank would kill me lol. I did learn 3D modeling tho, maybe I'll just model and print my own stuff uahahah. ( I won't ).
Allow me to ask you to reconsider that stance. Do NOT download any sculpts or look at Game Workshop pictures with intent to recreate, but work on your own models that come from your own inspirations. No reason to sell them if you are concerned, but do not be fearful to show off your talents to produce an Army better then you can purchase and for a fraction of the cost. When you put down an army that is covered in personal touches, it will stand out and turn heads at any hobby center.
Here minutes after Henry Cavill anounced his new Warhammer live action project under Amazon. Felt interested and wanted to explore more. Let's see how far I end up getting into it :P
Bro found you on tik tok and couldn’t stop watching. I’m hooked on the lore even started buying warhammer minis and showing my daughters how to play ! Thanks man!
This was super informative, I always love the dark, grimy, and beauty of 40K but couldn’t follow it throughly. Thank you for your explanation and hope your channel continues to flourish.
Listening to you talk about the game has made me finally decide to walk into the shop in my local mall dedicated to warhammer and buy a kit and get started. I've seen alot of your shorts on warhammer and it just looks so cool to me. I love arts and crafts and strategy games so this is a perfect hobby for me to get into. Thanks again for all your cool lore videos as well as all your other videos!
Ive been watching all your shorts and had a little idea about what 40k was but I'm glad you came out with this video. I feel like I actually understand it better now.
11:44 Damn that's really cool to hear. My first Warhammer books were the Night Lords trilogy as well, because I had a friend who kept rambling about Warhammer 40k and one day he let me read a chapter of it, then he said I could borrow it so I did and read the whole thing. To this day, it remains my favourite Warhammer series. "I heard bolter fire," is a badass moment.
As a newly found Night Lord fan (it's because of the Soul Hunter trilogy) I've fallen super in love with the 40k universe. Even if you dont care for the table top and really only care for the lore and stories , id recommend the books. The massive universe with so many storyline and individual heroes and villians is captivating. Just started up my first building my first army and I'm still stuck debating with myself with which loyalist Space Marines I'll choose .
i recently started talking to this guy and he is super into warhammer. he gets really excited and tries to teach me about different factions and the like and i’ve been so confused but really wanted to understand what he was talking about. your video has helped shed a little bit of light into the warhammer universe and where i can get some more information so im not so confused when he talks about his interests. so thank you wes!!!!
As a 40k newbie who's just getting started with the basics, this was really helpful. Can't wait to dive into the lore and the world via the books/novels, which in general have caught my attention the most. Cheers!
I just want to say I've known of 40k that it was expensive, dark and a tabletop but you just explaining tid bits of the lore and talking about the different armies and units especially the orcs you honestly made me go buy a kit of the orcs because they were hilariously awesome so I must thank you for bringing these shorts and any future long in depths videos you may make!
My guy! I know nothing of 40k let alone how you showed up in my shorts feed. But what I do know is I have watched the hell out of your 40k shorts. You are killing this! Love it
When I got into it I took the first Horus Heresy book for book one even though I know it cam far after the first few codices were printed. It ended up working out. Ten years later I’m currently working my way through the final war on terra, it’s been a rewarding experience
To add something, I also think the Space Marine Battles series is a good starting point (it was mine other then then Macharius Crusade series). Basically each novel takes a chapter or a squad of Marines and tells the story of one of their conflicts with a different faction. The Damocles Crusade (war against the Tau) is almost entirely told in SMB books, as well as other famous moments in the lore like The Third War for Armageddon. I’d recommend Storm of Damocles, Helsreach or Death of Integrity as good first starting points for those ones
I started reading Dragonlance as a kid in the late 80s and consumed every book, module, videogame or anything else. I'm finding this as a forty year old dad and I absolutely love it.
Dude, thank you so much! I've always been intrigued about 40k, seeing it in game stores and thanks to your shorts and this video I think I'm ready to embark on my 40k journey.
I’m 42, and I just got into 40K because I’d watch your lore videos while taking a dump. Now I’m fully addicted. I’m currently reading Xenos and have starting playing some games on PC. You’re the man and thanks for all you do! I ❤️ Warhammer 40K!!!
The "pick an army that resonates with you" advice is pure gold. I didn't get super into 40k until the Votann faction was released because it was space dwarves, and that's a big draw for me.
Your shorts brought me here….and I just wanna say Wes….coming from another Wes…..thank you!!!! I’ve never been so Intrigued about warhammer 40k I’ve heard so much about it and have friends that actively paint miniatures. I never knew so much until I wanted this video…keep doing what your doing because you 100% just got me into warhammer!!!!
Man am I glad I found this guy's shorts! If I hadn't then I would've never found 40k! I mean yeah I like D&D, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and stuff like that but I never thought Id find something as cool as Warhammer! Because of this man a legal child (ME) is into Warhammer 40k! It's so awesome how much there is to learn and I can't wait to start making my army, reading the books and comics to get familiar with the lore, and to start playing some video games from it
I absolutely adore watching your long form content no matter the context your passion and obsession for the topic at hand make it absolutely wonderful to hear and learn from. I deeply look forward to watching you grow and seeing more content from you in the future. 😁😁
I'm straight up starting the table top because of you so thankyou a great deal. I'm mainly playing the Tau because of your videos, keep up your amazing work
I’ve known almost nothing about warhammer other than it’s existence until your shorts started showing up in my feed. While I doubt I’ll ever play it, I’ve really enjoyed your videos about the lore.
I knew about Warhammer for years but never bothered to get into it, until like 4 years ago when I moved to an engineering team at work called "Adeptus Mechanicus" and then found the stories online of "The All Guardsman Party" which are absolutely hilarious and a good read/listen to on other CZcamss. I've been really liking the YT shorts you do and this intro to the WH40k universe is very friendly for someone who still thinks themselves as a noob. Also for anyone who's not even into the games, the Mechanicus game itself is fun but it's soundtrack is AMAZING! Look up "Children of the Omnissiah" for a listen.
I had no idea what I’m the hell warhammer was and I tried doing research and only became more confused and discouraged but this video is incredible. I was able to learn and actually understand. You have an incredible way of passing down information in ways anyone who knows nothing can understand! Thanks so much
I never played 40k but knew about it vaguely. I watched a lore video out of boredom one day and 3 months later I can't get enough ot it. I was dungeon and dragons kid back in the 80s and enjoyed some of the books but there is so much more to 40k. I'm gonna start some of the books this summer when I have some free time from work. Thanks for the great content.
I started watching your shorts. I'm sure a lot of people asked but I like to think you saw my comment on what book to start reading and dropped this video. So thanks.
i am a newbie and i love warhammer 40k for their weapons and armor. But in the last three to four days that I watch this youtube channel I learn so much more about everything. More specifically in this video, he gives his honest opinion on what to buy and how to save. Already there for a beginner, this is excellent information for a good start. It really make me want to start my own army and just destroy everything in my path. I think I'll make myself an army of spacemarines.
Hey Wes. I’m not really sure how to say this, but I’ve never been interested in 40k until I found your shorts. I was at work one day when I found them and they totally changed my outlook on it. Aside from that, you’ve helped me stay sharp during some very boring times with info to keep my brain awake, but also a little less lonely on deployment. Thanks Wes, for these awesome videos
I’ve just barely gotten into war hammer because of your CZcams shorts. I’m enjoying learning about the lore just through your videos. It’s really dense, but it’s cool to listen to. Maybe one day I’ll start saving up to buy an army of my own, but I’m enjoying just experiencing the story vicariously through your stuff :)
Damn... I had some cue what a Warhammmer is. But I have never imagined it's so massive, it's bigger than anything that I have ever seen. Amazon should be walking on their toes around Cavill. Cause if Henry doest it right it will become a cult tv series...
I have never played Warhammer or read the books but through your shorts and these videos my interests have been peaked. I also love these long fo videos as well and definitely want more
I got into Warhammer 40k for some reason around june of this year(2022) i just was reading stuff about it from the wiki, some events and all but more on because I remembered playing Space Marine in like 2014 and Necromunda like 2 years ago or something. But where i really got into 40k hard was from Vermintide 2. It was free in preparation for Darktide, then after spending a lot of time playing the game and building my characters, although it was fun, I was really attracted to the grim dark theme of 40k, so I read up until the End Times of Warhammer Fantasy Battle, learned a bit about Age of Sigmar, and moved on to 40k, and from there, more reading, researching, watching your videos and tutorials on painting and playing the tabletop game and finally buying my own Recruit Edition this holiday season. Thanks!
I have always been a ‘fan’ of warhammer, I know of certain stories and I love the aesthetic/universe but I am now trying to experience the lore in whole and you are the sole reason I am able to do so - thank you
I haven't touched my Warhammer armies in years... Until I watched this channel! I need so many more lore videos, chapter explained videos, maybe even strategy videos. How can i have a 30 min video everyday?!?!?!?!?!?!
I got started on this channel and few others. Now, I watch the tabletop, animation and...I've started reading the novels. I picked the Horus Heresy to start reading in the novels. I'm obsessed
I assume that these longer videos won't get as many views as short videos, but I really enjoy these longer videos, and I do appreciate the effort you put into them.
Thats Ok, the longer videos is what I really want to make, regardless of how popular they are. I'll still be posting shorts as I still have an enormous amount of them to repost from tiktok.
Because of one of your shorts on the Eldar I got officially hooked and got the Start Collecting Craftworld miniatures that I’m picking up in the morning. can’t wait to assemble, paint, and play! And it’s all thanks to you!
My introduction to Warhammer was two years ago just before the lockdown. I was commissioned to draw Magnus the Red. I didn't know who this was and when I asked a friend of mine I felt like I got thrown into a pool of nothing but 40k I finished the picture and retreated as soon as I finished it. In the last 8 months I found the adeptus mechanicus to be pretty cool and orks the orks to be hilarious. So from time to time I've found myself doing fanart from time to time now cause of it.
I've recently started reading the Horus Heresy and I'm on Mechanicum, I never really got into tabletop RPG's, but I think Warhammer 40k lore is what got me into the franchise as a whole
An older game now, I highly recommend a game called Fire Warrior. You play as a TAU infantryman, and it's a highly entertaining game. The unique thing about it is that you gain a great perspective on how ridiculous space marines are, because the TAU are human sized. The first time you pick up a Bolter and use it you're like "Holy shit" because it's a god gun, and the chaos space marines are terrifying. Underrated gem.
What makes Wes stand out is his energy, I love or the other guys content too but Wes is energetic and excited the other guys are like have the energy that makes me Feel like I’m in a history class in the Imperium, but they are so good at it too, I think Wes just calls out to those that don’t have the 1:45:00 to sit thought a lore vid
You're the best, Wes. I got into "the Hobby" when I started making Fallout power armor cosplay. I saw the 40K artwork while researching armor, was blown away, watched a couple of your videos and I was hooked...Thanx man. I got 3 different suits now and I blame you!
I just clicked on this and I already want to thank you you’re the reason I’ve been able to learn anything already from your amazingly interesting shorts but I’ve been too busy and honestly intimidated to really try to learn or get into but this is exactly what I needed and wanted! THANK YOU
I started watching your shorts about 4 months ago, and yesterday I picked up Warhammer total war, Warhammer vermintide, and Warhammer 40k inquisitor(the Diablo style game kinda. Really enjoying it so far) and just watched this today. Thanks for getting me into this universe
It's funny because growing up I always wanted to get into Warhammer (tabletop), but I didn't have the money or the patience to build and paint the figures. I found your videos and in a week of sharing all the lore I could soak up and retain, Myself (Deathguard), my Brother (Space Wolves),my Mother (Sisters of Battle), and my Fiancé (Tyranids) have all gotten into it. So keep it up man and great content!
Holy frick, I love your content!!! I personally adore warhammer lore and aesthetic, so having you make all of this hyper convenient and just genuinely good content based around it is an absolute treasure. Also i love your shorts and the assassins of the imperium are what kinda pushed me into this warhammer hole.
Your tiktok channel is what made me obsessed with warhammer, and now i'm building my own nurgle army so glad you also have a youtube video, thanks for everything and keep making videos 😊
I've recently started binge-watching as many of your videos as I could while retaining the noteable info, for one purpose: To GM a Dark Heresy 2nd Edition campaign for my friends. One of them is quite well read in the lore, but I'd like to know stuff myself, y'know. I've still got a few months to prepared but the group has already decided that we *will* be playing Dark Heresy, and I *will* be GMing it, so I gotta get ready for that. (For those who don't know, Dark Heresy is a technically unofficial TTRPG in the Warhammer Universe, where the players play as a Warband under the command of an Inquisitor, set in the Askellon Sector. It's focused on Roleplaying as a singular character, like DnD.) I've been trying to work with the lore from your videos, but honestly, I feel like I need to know more about the Inquisition, how they operate, and about the Askellon Sector. The core rulebook for Dark Heresy has a decent bit of info on that, but I feel like I need more. Does anyone have any book recommendations for books specifically on those topics? P.S.: Your videos are dope, Wes.
Honestly when it comes to lore all I've done was hear about it from friends, read it on wikis, and youtube lore videos. The best part about warhammer lore is you don't necessarily have to start from the beginning or even halfway through, hence where the wiki comes in because it fills in gaps that appear in a summed up fashion without needing to buy or even read the books.
I learned all the lore i know in the past by looking it up or Lore Videos. But now i am at a finacial point where i can start buying the books and and get started on collecting the figures. This was really helpful thank you.
Yoooo this channel literally exploded, looked through some of your og videos with like 500 views, then a month ago you started doing shorts and shit got crazy. Dude you rock!!
Thanks! I don't really know what happened, but my shorts seem to be doing even better here than they did on tick tock! Really excited to be moving into youtube!
I actually managed to get a 1st edition core rule book for next to nothing. I love it so much just seeing the older models and how far the game has come has been really cool.I just got into the game in 9th edition some of my favorite factions aren’t in there but it’s still so much fun 😄
Within all your shorts I've seen, I'm uncertain if I've ever seen one cover the Death Company sub chapter from the Blood Angels; although that hasn't stopped me from going back through all your stuff just for the hell of it, anyway. Wonderful content all throughout there!
One thing I love about 40k is it show cases a very real possiblity that most SciFi overlooks. Alien life might be you know alien, they might be very hostile, they could be a hive mind, they might have no concept of negotiation.
This is the best channel tbh i never really understood it until i found one of your shorts about the assasing with no soul and i found it incredibly interesting so i delved further and its really cool from the sons of vulcan to slanesh you put it in a nice and easily digestible way

And also try to read Helsrech by Aaron Dembsci Bouden !
I want to get into Warhammer 40k after watching your shorts and seeing similarities and differences to Warhammer Fantasy Lore, which I know a few things about. So thanks for making this great video
I'm happy to see more content than just your Shorts and TikToks! Keep it, been a fan since forever.
My first interaction with 40k was the game Dark Crusade, around 15 years ago or so. I never knew there was an entire universe around it until like 5 years ago.
Love your videos.
Your really doing a great service for the community with this channel, it’s such a good way to get people interested in the franchise!!
Absolute best "what is 40k" video I've ever seen! Just perfect for sharing with someone who knows nothin'! Thanks WesHammer!
Here minutes after Henry Cavill anounced his new Warhammer live action project under Amazon. Felt interested and wanted to explore more. Let's see how far I end up getting into it :P
Lol me too.
What I find the most ironic about 40k is of all the enemies you can face, and yet the biggest enemy is games workshop themselves.
Ive been watching all your shorts and had a little idea about what 40k was but I'm glad you came out with this video. I feel like I actually understand it better now.
I also recommend you to play necromunda hired gun and battlefleed gotic armada 2 - they are great warhammer games !
Did you specifically make this for me haha 😆
I seen your comment earlier about it 😅
you and a couple of others haha
As a newly found Night Lord fan (it's because of the Soul Hunter trilogy) I've fallen super in love with the 40k universe. Even if you dont care for the table top and really only care for the lore and stories , id recommend the books. The massive universe with so many storyline and individual heroes and villians is captivating. Just started up my first building my first army and I'm still stuck debating with myself with which loyalist Space Marines I'll choose .
Who else is here because of Cavill?
Me and I like the idea of space war thingies with big suits just like power armors in fallout.
Me 1yr later
Yes I am late
Me and I still don't know where to begin lol
Have you started getting into 40k yet and if yes from where did u start?
i recently started talking to this guy and he is super into warhammer. he gets really excited and tries to teach me about different factions and the like and i’ve been so confused but really wanted to understand what he was talking about. your video has helped shed a little bit of light into the warhammer universe and where i can get some more information so im not so confused when he talks about his interests. so thank you wes!!!!
This might be the best starting explanation of 40k I have seen.. nice work!
I’m glad you made this video because the entirety of my knowledge about 40k prior to finding this channel was quite simply “BROTHER”
You are the only reason I actually got into warhammer, I liked the games but because I discovered you a few weeks ago I just want to learn more
I’ve just barely gotten into war hammer because of your CZcams shorts.
Thanks!
This is a gem. You made me like warhammer. But I still cant explain 40k to other people. I just dont know where to start. This thing is a masterpiece.
@@weshammer Yeah, I was introduced to your content because of the shorts, which I really enjoy as well
Because of one of your shorts on the Eldar I got officially hooked and got the Start Collecting Craftworld miniatures that I’m picking up in the morning. can’t wait to assemble, paint, and play! And it’s all thanks to you!
My introduction to Warhammer was two years ago just before the lockdown. I was commissioned to draw Magnus the Red. I didn't know who this was and when I asked a friend of mine I felt like I got thrown into a pool of nothing but 40k
I finished the picture and retreated as soon as I finished it. In the last 8 months I found the adeptus mechanicus to be pretty cool and orks the orks to be hilarious. So from time to time I've found myself doing fanart from time to time now cause of it.
I'm so glad you have long form content! I just discovered your shorts and they left me craving more
I’ll never forget about the feeling I had the first time I saw pictures of 40K games, and the feeling I had the first time I ever got some models
I can’t believe one day I found this guy on CZcams shorts and now I’m into Warhammer, funny how this stuff works
I've recently started reading the Horus Heresy and I'm on Mechanicum, I never really got into tabletop RPG's, but I think Warhammer 40k lore is what got me into the franchise as a whole
6:46
The best way ive heard the armies explained is that the game relies on the core rules, and every army gets to break a few of those core rules.
What makes Wes stand out is his energy, I love or the other guys content too but Wes is energetic and excited the other guys are like have the energy that makes me
Feel like I’m in a history class in the Imperium, but they are so good at it too, I think Wes just calls out to those that don’t have the 1:45:00 to sit thought a lore vid
I got into Warhammer fantasy a couple years back then I found your shorts and I really like the 40k lore aswell thank you for this
You're the best, Wes.
I wish we could hang out for a couple of days. There seems to be no master, but you're on the edge. Love it. Thank you.
It's focused on Roleplaying as a singular character, like DnD.)
I've been trying to work with the lore from your videos, but honestly, I feel like I need to know more about the Inquisition, how they operate, and about the Askellon Sector.
The best part about warhammer lore is you don't necessarily have to start from the beginning or even halfway through, hence where the wiki comes in because it fills in gaps that appear in a summed up fashion without needing to buy or even read the books.
love the reels! can’t wait to watch your extended content
You have Majorkill to thank for my patronage I didn't know you existed until he did a video on you. I love your chill vibe homie
This is exactly what I needed! Recently I've become really interested in Warhammer 40k but didn't know where to start.
New 40K Lore addict imploring thou for more long videos, really like listening to these during the day, keep up the good work Wes.
Hey I'm glad your also doing long form I hope this blows up like your shorts
I've known about Warhammer for about 2-3 years but I've still watched like 18 of these types of vids this month
One thing I love about 40k is it show cases a very real possiblity that most SciFi overlooks. Alien life might be you know alien, they might be very hostile, they could be a hive mind, they might have no concept of negotiation.
Overjoyed to see we have a 40k channel finally! Hope to see you cover the Eldar, and particularly the Ynnari!💜💙💚
This is the best channel tbh i never really understood it until i found one of your shorts about the assasing with no soul and i found it incredibly interesting so i delved further and its really cool from the sons of vulcan to slanesh you put it in a nice and easily digestible way
Hope you keep doing more long videos! You make things easier to understand and its really easy to listen to you!
