It's not even the number of hunters in CO..... The tens of thousands of backpackers weekly is insane in CO !!!!!

Thanks for sharing some information on Colorado. After this application season I will have 3 points. I plan on doing a 1st rifle hunt in the next few years

It’s totally rigged the way that Colorado runs their hunting operations. They hand out a crap ton of elk tags and jam a whole bunch of people into an area (unit) knowing damn well no one will kill anything other than outfitters and their clients. The state makes a good revenue every year by ripping people off

There were 719 archery/muzzleload hunters in my CO GMU last year.

I always hear people say Colorado doesn't have over the top trophies. I've seen some absolute monster 380 plus bulls. I was born and raised here. I won't tell anybody where I've seen them lol.

would a 0 point draw 1st rifle season still be really crowded or would the numbers be a lot less than OTC 2nd or 3rd rifle?

Does Colorado waive the hunt stamp for nonresident hunters over 65?

Isn't it $100 fee for sheep?

Assuming Non Res - Need a qualifying license (cheapest is $84.96) + Habitat Stamp ($10.40) + Application Fee ($9) + $0.25 Search and Rescue Fee + $1.50 Wildlife Ed Fund = $106.11 just to apply for preference point. Then you will be charged for the preference point ($100) later on. So, total out the door - $206.11 for just applying for sheep preference point for 2021.

-desert sheep does not use a points system to draw. It is completely random and does not charge you any fee. Now for rocky mountain bighorn sheep there is an optional $100 point fee if you wish to build points for that species. As far as the hunting license, habitat stamp fees, I do not include those on certain species apps unless that is the only species I am applying for, for that state. Those fees I spread out over the entire application. Hope this answers your question-

Hunting Fool is absolutely right. Desert sheep is a complete random draw. $15 for that lottery ticket. I believe you can't not get a preference point for rocky mountain bighorn if you apply for desert sheep though.
