- The Clipper Route. 44 Days 4300nm. Wow, what a trip. I've never experienced such high highs and low lows. This video could have been hours long and I purposefully haven't added voiceover to explain a lot of things, feel free to ask questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
A huge thanks to Helly Hansen for supporting this massive journey and for believing in my adventures.
An even bigger thank you to my dad, Farrell, for joining me on this trip. Forever grateful for the memories!

Thank you everyone for watching and for your comments, I’m a bit overwhelmed with how many views and comments and new subscribers this video has received in the last day! I’d love to do a question and answer video next week to address some of your questions. If you have a question, please comment below and I’ll touch on it next Monday when the video comes out!
I have a few questions. What surprised you or was a bigger deal than maybe you thought it would be? What was the effect to your body and mind to be on passage for 44 days? Was there a bit of gear you did not have that would have made the passage easier? Was there something you wish you had done differently to prepare yourself and/or the boat for prior to starting your passage?
What is your best memory for sailing and do you own your boat. Love watching this vlog.
I am an old guy who can’t be on the water any longer. Sharing your voyage has been the highlight of my day. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your comment. I’m glad I could bring some ocean to you :)
GREAT! -- Finally -- someone gives us video without all the music and sound removed. This is the way it needs to be. Much better. Feels like we are right there wilh you. More of this type of video please!
After editing this one I think I agree with this opinion now! I will definitely be editing this way moving forward! Thanks so much
When music is considered, lean towards upping the quality of filming & narrative..I concure- sailing backed by audio stinks. What a treat sharing a long voyage with your pops...Honestly there wasn't a moment I didn't enjoy.
@@AllAboutSpray ..excellent.. Not sure exactly why, but there are two "mistakes" that newbie yutubers tend to make. 1) they use an inordinate amount of fast forwarded video (this should be used very rarely if ever), and 2) they delete natural sound and pump in music, They even start music when they start speaking, if you can imagine that, As best as I can tell, they believe that professional documentaries and movie producers do this. The reality is music is always cut when people speak and is rarely added at any other time other than the into and ending credits. It is just a weird misconception that is now prevalent on youtube.
Increadible job guys.
I’m one of many disabled sailors with UK Sailability an thanks for showin how it realy is.❤❤❤🙏🙏💎💎🪬🪬🥃🥃🇬🇧🇬🇧⛵️⛵️⛵️🤢🤢🤢
What fantastic dad daughter memories you’ll have and bet dad couldn’t be more proud.
Very grateful for these memories!
It’s actually quite nice seeing raw unedited video. Gives you a more realistic feel for being on the ocean
Don’t know your dad’s background but I think he’d be a good man to have in a foxhole. He has a slow, methodical way that seems super comforting in stressful situations.
He is very calm in stressful Situations and his engineering background really helps tackle any situation that comes up! I was very grateful to have him on this trip!
Agreed
Thanks for being the first sailing channel I've watched that has not shipwrecked the natural audio with overwhelming, headbanging music. Fair winds to you all.
I’m glad you liked it! Thanks so much
44 days. A lifetime of memories.
What a beautiful place to live, I would have a hard time leaving there, beautiful, peaceful serene what else can you say. They are very blessed to have a home with land like that. Praying your recovery is expedited and without any possible complications. Stay safe and God bless
What a refreshing "up close and personal" look at passage making. Good job..thanks for taking us along. Cheers from Tennessee.
Great adventure. Thanks for taking me along for the ride. Welcome home.
Perfect editing, commentary, content, sailing, improvising, - everything. Well done and thank you.
Thank you so much
Nice to see the old style stuff. Like celestial navigation. Charts. Simple repairs.
When I watch these kinds of videos, I realize how much of an amateur sailor that I am despite 15 years on the water. What an amazing journey with your Dad.
Right on..after watching your video,I'd sail without a doubt with you and your father any day...thank you both for sharing your passages/adventure...its a dream I wanna fulfill as well...take care both of you..,
Thank you for the real deal - no music, just the beautiful ambient sounds.

My daughter is 8 now, and she's starting to get interested in going out with me "to see the dolphins" :-) I hope she will be enjoying the sea as much as I do, and as she grows she may become a skilled sailor too, who knows As a dad, I am happy to see you and your dad being able to spend this valuable time together, a memory that no one can take away from you anymore. Thanks for sharing! Greets from Lisbon, Portugal, Frank

This was a GREAT film. Real sailing and real emotion. I wonder if I'd ever have the guts to do a 44-day passage? It seems like you got the best crew ever.
Thank you and as already have been said, very good editing with no music, only natural sound as it was. Than you and all the best to your dad.

Amazing video showing true comradarie between father and daughter. Very touching! As well, you have a natural demeanor for videography and telling your story without pretense. I really like the way you interact with the camera...and, subsequently, with the viewer. Very photogenic...

What a awesome video, thank you for sharing this experience
Been looking for a Mexico to Canada video for a long time, thank you. Most are going the other way.
Downwind sure is a lot easier! Thanks for watching:)
Such a wonderful little film. Very real and so engaging. Thank you so much for sharing your great adventure. I really loved watching.
Fantastic video! Really enjoyed watching it! You are such an accomplished sailor! Can't wait to see how you do in the R2K!
Thank you so much sue. I always appreciate your support!
Nice video. Good solution for the shroud doubling, if you had a dyneema line on board that would make a better temporary shroud as it stretches less. Fwiw swaged fittings do that sometimes, it is definitely a drawback, I would definitely be on the riggers case though, 1 year is ridiculous. Thanks for helping me decide...my next re rig is going to be dyneema, except for the fore and back stays.
Yes I was really wishing I had a longer dyneema line with us. The dyneema I had was a bit too short! If I do another long passage I would definitely get a piece that’s as long as our longest stay/shroud. Riggers stood by their work and replaced the shroud no problem.
Nicely done. Straight forward, simple and real. Happy Sailing. from Opua, NZ
Great watching, thanks to both of ye. Beautiful father daughter relationship.
What a great adventure for you and Dad. Great video
wonderful accomplishment!
can't wait to see how you did on the race to alaska!!

Great story, well done !
What a great crossing video, absolutely loved it!
I’m so jealous. What a great adventure
I'm from San Diego and Orcas Island so I enjoyed so much sharing this passage with you and you are adorable.
By far, the very best sailing video out there!!! I watched your AMAZING adventure before bed last night and was dreaming sailing until morning. Yes, with MANY questions in my mind about your voyage.
I'm not sure if you realize just how many people, like myself, yearn to do this..., but life doesn't always grant us all of our hopes.
I grew up on the water in Victoria and sailed on and off, but now I'm limited to watching on CZcams.
You're one spunky lady with an awesome Dad.
You've inspired me to continue to look for someone to help me continue to learn and one day maybe live aboard. My dream.
Thank you
Great job!
That was a really good video. I've done a lot of passages in the Pacific and Atlantic/Carib and you really captured what it is like. Nice job.
Thank you!
Outstanding well done
I like your energy, great trip thank you
Congrats! Cutting board Starboard, gotta love it.
Had to get creative!
Awesome video about real sailing. You are a a true sailor. With a little bit of luck, I'll be sailing the NE coast this summer with my daughter who is about your age. Thanks very much.
To your Father Kaylene and sorry if I mistakingly deleted my comment and his Reply to my comment!:
You must be Very Proud of Kaylene! You guys have taught her well on all fronts! Nice to see you're very much still in the game, that clipper ship route is not for the faint of heart! We're on our way home and considered the clipper ship route, but opted out thinking 30-40 days might be a tad much when a 3 day passage is so exhausting!😂......We could use that southerly blow today!
It was a mission! It took longer than we had hoped for too.
@@AllAboutSpray Thank God you made it safely and yet with more experience under your belt➡️ win win!!.....You are such a kind soul Kaylene yet with strength and resolve to meet any challenge that comes your way.....We hold much admiration for you!!🌟♥️
Well done both.
Great job guys !!! From Montreal ❤
Great vid!
Great 🎉🎉. Video
I used to work on Tartan 42/s at Tartan Marine, in Grand River, Ohio - 1972/73.....making the teak toe rails. And sailed with the company president on Lake Erie. NICE boat and video!
Great job I think on the spectra line to backup the weak shroud!!I was impressed when your dad ask you about the routing and you said run it through the bottom👍That’s how I would have done it,if you would have ran through the top it would have pulled the turnbuckle back towards the winch and got slack when released.
Fantastic job!!!! Welcome home 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you! 😃
Excellent. I spent a lot of time sailing with my daughter too.
