Ashford Station (Kent) on 11th February 1989
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Ashford in Kent taken on 11/02/1989. Taken before any signs of the high speed lines. All slam door stock and with a few loco hauled services thrown in to boot. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

Remember when EMUs were quiet? Just the hum of the traction motor gearing as they pull away. Modern units make such a racket with all kinds electronic whines and screeches

Absolutely outstanding. This is the Ashford I remember. This is a complete blast from the past and is very very welcomed. Wish I could have taken more pictures than I did, and that 4L, is absolutely amazing.

    What great footage.
Some familiar traffic here with Cromptons & passenger stock.
The Jaffa cake livery was very smart in my opinion.
Was a little surprised to see the class 47 in large logo & also the class 56 in Railfreight grey with red stripe thou but most welcome.
And of course this film is before the re-build to Ashford International.
    Thks for sharing.

The days when a "fast" service actually meant fast: Non-stop Ashford to London. HS1 has turned the Southeastern Mainline into a turgid slog of a journey.

Looked like a 5 REP coupled to a CIG and VEP around the 16:30 mark. Never knew REPS worked the Southeastern let alone coupled to other EMUS. On second thoughts maybe it is a TC. Still rare though.
