For an upgrade, I'm surprised they didn't make his helmet purple like the animation. Call of The Primitives is considered the gold standard of the series.
The new torso configuration leaves two combiner ports on the back, so you could have it with extra arms.

oooo, that shark arm takes me back. Most of my Transformers as a kid were second-hand from thrift stores, so I rarely if ever had combined mode feet and hands and pretty much never had a matching set, nor a full set of a single team. But I had two of those sharkbots, which have nice flat bottoms and legs for stability, so they were my designated feet for any combiner because I knew they would be the same height and he'd be nice and stable on them. And I liked the shark heads looked like kneepads, because I plugged my legs in facing backwards so they could have knee joints.
Good times.

Pretty damn good upgrades! Love those "handguns" mods. My only disappointment is how thin the ankles are, should have been thicker, lol! Thank you, EmGo (And Mascot, too!) Keep up the awesomeness!
Its a nice looking kit though they really should've engineered the thigh covers better. They love to fall off at the slightest touch.
I wish the new beast heads could fit on the robot mode feet.

It is fine by me if you dont like my idea, it was just a small idea I had. It also seemed like better storage than plugging it into Cutthroat's hand.
I only recently got the last bot needed for my Abominus (he's always been one of my favorites). I'm sold on this kit, despite the flaws. You had me at the weaponry, which I'm sure can be used by any toy with the same sized port. You get a great new look for the combiner, and a literal arsenal to use with all your decepticons. I imagine I'll be arming up a base or something with them when the terrorcon team isn't combined.
I have this kit, few problems for me:
-The thigh pieces (12:15) in combination mode that slide in keep falling off, so I leave them off.
- Had to shave the 5mm pegs for the feet/hands, felt like if I put too much pressure on the ports it would break my figures.
-The gun it came with was warped, looks like it was melted some how.
It feels aesthetically pleasing, but I felt this product was rushed out, and had poor quality control.
yeah, this is the case for all of their combiner upgrade hands and feet. it seems like an issue they should have fixed by the time they made this (the 6th kit 😖)

i know this isnt a masterpiece figure review but i wanted to say i finally got masterpiece movie Megatron and i absolutely love him. Thank you very much for doing what you do because if it wasnt for you i probably wouldnt have pulled the trigger on buying him. im trying to get my hands on masterpiece ovie bumblebee but i cant find it anywhere new for under $200 . anyways i justwanted to say thank you and let you know that im grateful for your review. keep up the awesome videos brother.

Bought Terracons separately during the time they were selling them in stores. Had to jump around 6 stores to get them all; during the time when ToysRUs was around. Abominus is pretty stable. Similar mold type to Superion. But Abominus's antennas. It never straightens out. Gave it to my nephew
Holy crap he's on steroids!!! He gets way bigger than the normal version of Abominus that I own. I am dumbfounded by the change in robustness.
One gotta really be a huge fan and really love transformers to mess with that brainteaser of a toy.

When it got to the hand part I was like wait a sec, is this just a repaint of the volcanicus upgrade kit.
O.M.G. So cool. Playability for days. I had to choose between a kit that makes Volcanicus able to stand up without an armature or this, definitely getting this. my only complaint is probably that NONE of the upgrade kits I can find for combiners actually makes the ankle or wrist connections More stable. More weapons is great anyway, since Siege and Earthrise voyagers are super weak on the accessories game. Deluxe class figures seem to be getting the golden ticket to pewpew town.
I've had this kit for about 3 months now and i had no idea until this review that the head can retract into itself so i've been removing it probably more than i should have done XD
Hey Emgo, if you ever want a cheap method of splitting seams on figures like the head on this I might suggest guitar picks, when I was a phone tech, that's what I used in order to split phones apart, and it doesn't mangle the plastic either just a thought as opposed to finger nails, which I know you trim, or using something like a razor blade or something harder than the plastic itself... anyhow enjoyed this immensely as always great job!

in the same boat. abominus was my favorite g1 combiner. when he came out for power of the primes, i was so geeked. he looks great, but a bit anemic. been looking at this kit forever. finally bought it, and tho it is finicky af, i think it makes him look so much better. mine is a bit loose tho :( something i found with the new head, you can push it down (at least mine can)

I preordered the DK-16 Gear Master Accessory Series Upgrade Kit from BBTS, mainly for the sentinel Prime Shield, Gun, and Swords, I do have the bumblebee as well but the parts for blackout will be off to the side until I decide to get him later
Im one of the early adopters of the kit. I got the extra parts. For me, it looks amazing. Only issue, abominus becomes unplayable. For display only. The whole thing becomes flimsier, imo. Oh, and they are doing this again for the seacons. I hope they improved on it. There are reported issues of the pegs cracking the ports so care is advised when fitting the hands and feet.

G1 Hun-Grrr is NOT impressed. : ) I have both the G1 & the New Abominus, & the G1 IS more stable, but this add-on kit LOOKS cool!

I just got this kit and without this video I wouldn't haven't been able to do it. The legs are the worst part for me.
I've seen people using this kit with the Perfect Effects to make their Abominus better and I might go that same route as well. But, hopefully I don't break the pegs on those chest panels, but knowing that I have the tendency of breaking stuff without realizing it and sausage fingers..yeah I'll be cautious when I do switch out those chest panels.
Now Abominus doesnt look like he skipped leg day.

Aesthetically its a great set and I am glad I snagged the pre-order last year. The major downside is that hun-gar is a piece of shit. I am hoping Aoyi's Hun-gar is either compatible with the kit (unlikely) or they release a normal sized version just with proper ratchets. Personally I swapped to two Rippersnappers for legs and he stands decently now. Still some wobble issues but overall its better. Kinda want to snag a pair of Aoyi Rippersnappers and a couple Blots. Not cartoon accurate at all but it'd give a bulkier badass cohesive look.
Wish they'd done the new head with a squarer visor like the G1 Abominus. The kit head doesn't seem different enough from the POP head - Still has that Robin the Boy Wonder mask look to it.
ive always thought this set was trash at best loose floppy weak joints couldn't stand etc. BUT i got this kit lol just now got around to putting it on (hey life happens) and it actually made it more stable for me. The new feet are meh but if i put blot as a leg and cutthroat as an arm instead of how they are supposed to be and use the old feet with the new thighs it works.
I just got this set for my Abominus, and f*** was getting those new shoulder pieces to stay in place a pain in the ass!!!
But its funny, mine came with a purple head, and the purple plastic used is much darker than yours. Also, the head is VERY loose. I've had to push it down slightly so that it will stay upright. Otherwise it just flops back and forth.
Got mine last week. Love the new chest and head. Love the Gun. The wrists cannot hold the gun up and the feet cannot hold him up at all. I had to go to bbts and found Perfect Effects hands and feet on sale. PE has good hands and feet, it will be difficult to screw this up. Unless I get a bad version.

I have this kit,,, great addition and really great looking but all the pieces don’t stay together... i had to crazy glue some pieces,,,, was very disapointed because of that. The feet are very fragile too.
Can do a video comparing this Upgraded Hasbro Abominus and Unique Toys Ordin? Would surely attract very high views

Emgo do you know of any kits for Abominus that give him the cartoon accurate purple head? Abominus suffered the same problem as the toy Galvatron with the reversed color scheme on his head in my opinion.

I was onboard with this kit until I saw how mangled the torso becomes. You might as well remove the old ports and the tail. It would have been great if they could have made this without a complete reworking like that.
First time i'm happy i didn't got the first edition although the extra pieces wasn't the reason i got mine.

Love this kit, BUT, my Hungrrr was so floptastic from the start it just made the kit worse. I ended up doing the CW Skylinx joint fix on Hungrr’s shoulders to tighten up the joints, the TDW kit would fall apart on the thighs at the slightest touch or shake. So I ended up gluing those pieces together onto Hungrrrr, as well as the shoulder pieces. And to be honest, I really don’t care for the TDW feet. Sadly my Abominus is a good looking disappointment.
Am very surprised why no one ever compare UT Ordin and this Potp abominus with upgrade kit.

Not a bad looking upgrade but those dragon head knees almost make it look like it has stubby legs on stilts but the finger guns are cool so it’s alright
My Gestalt has Horribly Weak Hip Ratchets. That make him "Fall-over" flimsy. Can't see how this Kit would help that. And The Best part of my Abominus was his Head. I always thought. HaHa!

As much as this looks nicer, its hard to justify so many parts that don't even attach when uncombined, give me just the hands, feet, and guns, and that's all. The way it attaches worries me too, couldn't they figure out a way that was actually sturdy?
