  • Emma Mae is joined by her husband, Josh McDaniel, today to talk about spiritual, emotional, and physical boundaries in relationships. Healthy boundaries don’t keep us from what is good but protect us from what is good. Through reflection on scripture and practical application, Emma Mae and Josh hope that through this episode you are encouraged to journey through your relationships well.

What are some healthy boundaries you can set in your relationships

“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:22‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)
This is a verse that has helped me so much when it has come to navigating my “romantic” relationship! I’ve learned that it’s a lot easier to “flee” in the first place from getting all passionate with the man that I’m dating than it is to get all passionate and then “flee” from my sexual desires.
We aren’t called to see how close we can get to the line regarding physical aspects of a relationship… we are called to flee!! Boundaries are healthy and important and God sets certain boundaries for us because He LOVES us!!
We are called to be holy and blameless before the Lord! Everything sexual outside of marriage is sexual immorality. Sexual immorality is so serious to God because our bodies are “A temple of the Holy Spirit”
I love you guys and Jesus loves you all!
Thank you Josh and Emma for your wise counsel and wisdom that you share! This message is such an important one (as are all topics concerning God’s word and what He has called His children to walk in or away from) ❤️❤️

Being equally yoked is so important. The company we have matters!

Oh man, I love Josh's elaboration on being equally yoked. There's such depth to scripture that we miss when we aren't aware of the cultural significance that it was written in. It wasn't until my fiancé that I was given that full explanation and it brought such a richness to the understanding of how important it is to be equally yoked.
Excellent discussion on this, as it's such a vital piece of information when wanting to discover God's best for us. I also love the additional explanation that it doesn't mean you'll always be in the exact same place as your partner either. We have to show each other grace in the moments we need it. We can fail or be lacking at certain times, as that's the humanity in us, but we need the desires of our hearts to be consistently in the same place.

Emma you encouraged me so much when you said praying and reading scripture together was beneficial for you and Josh. A couple months ago when I started my relationship I was looking this stuff up and getting so burdened and overwhelmed with all these rules, i felt like there was nothing left that I COULD do. Me and my boyfriend always pray together before starting our day and we do bible studies together. It’s actually crazy that anyone would say these things are wrong. 😞 I truly believe the Holy Spirit led us to do these things.

Thank you SO much for doing this video. Emma, you have such a knowledge of Scripture. a lot of wisdom for being so young. I really appreciate what you are doing. If one person can live a better life because of something you shared, then it's all worth it. Again, thank you and God bless you.

i was baffled when you said that you heard others recommend "don't pray together and don't read scripture together"! Personally I feel that doing those things are important to keep your relationship Godly and to remember God is a part of both of you
