  • 1947, West Sacramento, California, more views of this up and coming addition to Sacramento City and all of Northern California as it's river front views, baseball park seem to be on the front edge of an ever growing energy to make West Sacramento a really nice place to live and visit.
These vintage views include the old Drug Store that sat at what was Peterson's Corner in the day and on the front of the building are signs for the Doll House Hamburgers and Bell Telephone signaling that there is a payphone on the premises. That's Tarzan being advertised with Jane in a black two piece bathing suit. This is the West Sacramento Pharmacy. The next scene is that of a new building construction site next door to the Farmers Market store. The new construction building the new "West Sacramento Professional Building and doctors offices" with the anchor store being the new Drug Store with a new sign reading "Prescriptions Drug and Liquors" is being performed by the Continental Construction Company and Teichert Aggregate has been around for a long time, one of their trucks is dropping gravel for the parking lot. The last views are of the newly built store and in the background we see the old El Rancho Hotel and a Flying A gas station.
(Thank you Gear Whine for identifying, the Capitol Motel (white building rotunda that looks like the Capitol) that used to sit where the City Hall stands now and that the local airport was behind that.)

Looks like the old Post Office is to the right in most frames, where the flag is flying. Become Roger's Auto Parts later on. Thanks of the video! Ha ha made me feel young and old at the same time?

This was before the I-5 ,80 freeways we're bult. You had to use tower bridge , I street bridge to get to west Sacramento , and out to San Francisco . This was before my time I don't even recognize it.

I have always thought of folks like you when posting films like these. A view of familiar places in the past. It’s good to see where we came from. It gives you a better perspective on where we are now and how we got there. Thank you for your memories and thank you for watching.

Another good one George. Also visible in the background is the "rotunda" of the Capitol motel (edit: or was it a trailer court?) where City Hall is now. The airport was behind that back then. Thanks much!

God loves your eyes boy! Hey thank you so very much I figured I’d have to wait at least six months before somebody will identify what motel that was. I thought it might have been called to Capitol Motel and I even looked it up but I couldn’t find anything on it. Thank you so very much again for watching sir!

Back in those days there were no skyscraper buildings. Then you could see the Capital building from a distance. But now in 2021 you can't see the Capital no where from a distance.

Looks more like 1957 based on the cars.

You are so right most of it is from that era. At the tail end there is a clip of the car that has a license is dated 1947 and that’s what I hastily based it on. Thanks and I am glad you enjoyed it.
