- Masonry makes good men better! It's a slogan all masons have heard. But the question must be asked : HOW does Masonry make good men better. Freemasonry is the world's oldest fraternity, but also the world's oldest self-improvement organization.
In this video, 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason Maynard Edwards explains how some of the lessons and symbols of Masonry can be applied in a practical way to improve your life and make 2024 one of your best years yet!

How will you use Masonry to improve in 2024 and what is your favorite "working tool"?
Appreciate the channel. It has been very insightful and meaningful to my journey
The plumb is my favorite personally, and I’m looking to get certified for open close and maybe start that process the degrees as well!
Have a great year Bro. Maynard, love the work you guys do for this channel and for Freemasonry.
My favorite working tool would have to be all of the tools.
To work MORE not only on self, and being selfless. To work MORE at building my career even as a filtration geek.
(I install RO units, Whole House Filters etc.).
Happy New Year, Brother Maynard! Excellent video.
I think my favorite working tool would be the great book of nature and revelation, which is our spiritual, moral, and Masonic Trestle Board, in which the G.A.O.T.U. has laid down his plans for our happiness and flourishing.
Nice to hear from you
Our teachings are so simple but challenging.
"And I know it isn't easy
But nothing worth the time ever really is"

I am not a Mason but, I really appreciate these videos.
Of all the blessings I have received in my life, having a Freemason for a father is one that I appreciate the most. Especially in today's world.
Thank you for your very kind words!
Thank you for your videos. They have helped me to start my Masonic journey.I was just initiated into my blue lodge. I'm a entered apprentice as of now. I'm excited to move on to because a Scottish Rite brother. Hope this words find you well my brothers
Welcome aboard! So glad we could play a small in your journey.
@kniceley1776 Welcome aboard Brother. A word of advice, if I may. Take your time. Freemasonry is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time between your 1st and 3rd. Learn all you can...interpret all you can. Get on the ladder of your Lodge and only consider any side orders after you come out of the Chair. Plenty of Brothers will invite you to join all sorts of other side orders...resist the temptation. Your Lodge may want to rush you through your Degrees. Say no. Pace yourself.
It's up to you, of course, but if you heed my advice, I suspect you will get far more out of your Masonry than you otherwise would.
Great message, thanks.

The Art of applying what we have learned in the Craft is the long lost key, imo. Great video.
Excellent, thanks
I left the East of my Lodge a couple weeks ago, to go to the secretary's desk. What did I learn? Instead of having an anxiety attack whenever I put a tuxedo on, I now have one whenever I check the mail or my phone rings.
Happy New Year from Hungary and thanks for the video. AASR MM here.
I finally visited my local blue lodge Monday at the 618,bunch of good men, I've been studying masonry for over 10 years now and it has reshaped my life from the inside out, I plan on attending more often so that the men at the 618 know me well enough so that I may petition for membership.
I wouldn’t wait. Just petition. They will be glad to have you.
I've never thought of it that way, this really hit home. I've been struggling, Well said Brother!!!!
Excellent video, Brother. As far as improvements go, within the Lodge, I have finished my first year as Junior Deacon and have begun my second year as Senior Deacon. In my career, I have begun the process of achieving a promotion and pay raise.😁
Very well explained
I am still rough Ashlar. However it is a work of progress.
When I was raised, the goals I laid out:
Simply apply everything I have learned so far in Masonry, to apply it to my every day actions.
We are all rough Ashlars brother! Especially me!
@@ScottishRiteMasons That’s what makes the building beautiful. The tough spots are slowly chipped away.
Even the most beautiful of earthly sanctuaries have a few stones that are a little bit rough. 😂

Excellent video. Makes total sense. Thank you!
Greetings from Sacramento, CA (David D. Mattock #87). This is a wonderful video and probably one of the best ways I've seen so far to illustrate the constant "chipping away" and smoothing of the rough edges in our life...…ever striving towards the goal of the P.A. but recognizing the patience and the process and the journey of what it takes to get there. Love it! Keep up the wonderful work!
Greeting from Washington D.C Mt. Zion #36 A.A.S.R.M. Inc. Great video. Thank you for all the information. Your video's are always filled with good information.

I like this video. It is a down to earth and practical explanation of what is meant by going from a Rough Achler to a Perfect Achler.
Beautiful
Greetings from Bogota Colombia. Recently ascended to fellowcraft. Again a wonderful and comforting presentation Brother Maynard. I am originally from California and would one day love to visit washington and meet with you. In Colombia our lodges are gravitating closer and closer, and all around the andean nations, lodges are coming together. Its a healthy and revitalizing trend of universal unity and brotherhood, which is what Masonry is all about. I share your videos with all my english speaking brothers.
My father is a freemason I am working on becoming entered apprentice
Excellent lesson! Reminds me of the wisdom my Father-in-law (a Mason) would relate. It was this kind of wisdom that led me to join the Lodge. Thank you brother for reminding me of him and this pearl of wisdom!
Where’s the link for the Ashlars again?
Thanks!
Greetings from vnzla bro M.M rod
This is a very important message, making perfect sense!

Best one of theses videos yet. Keep it up they are great.
Thank you Brother! We are all rough ashlars after all!
Ey up and greetings from Britannia Lodge 139 Sheffield West Riding UK. I'm watching Your videos for some time now and finding them simple interesting and worth dedicating my time. Shouldn't it be Chisel together with Common Gavel, used to perfect Rough Ashlars ? Or the video was made in this form for a reason ? Cheers, Tomasz.
This is outstanding, thank you for your insights and explanations brother. Truly beautiful and profound ❤
Bro. Burton from Valley of Nashville, thank you for all your contributions to Masonry!

Awesome video brother, the perfect outlook on being a mason
Thank you brother. All the best to you in 2024!
Hi I'm from Iran,I ve been recently joint the sufi sect of Khaksar,a secret society of dervishes, it's old and ancient,we have initiation and secret teachings like you,we have zekr it's mantras,we have degrees,7 degrees actually, but most importantly our journey involves going through the inner worlds and eventually reaching the first Angel of creation that I think you call the Architect, then only one or two every 1000 years maybe can reach the Dot,we call it AHADIAT, meaning unity through negation,or being,I want to become a mason ,I'm migrating to canada or usa,how can I become a Scottish rite member?..and do your teachings involves mysticism?...
That is interesting
I'm not lying,in my sect we are bound to our Pir(پیر),we call him father,we do meditations and of course we have secret words(ذکر)،،،،and there is revelations and secret history of our sect that we are being told when we ascend,,,but the core of our teachings says we are the small universe and the usinverse is the great man,so mysticism is really important to us,,,Can a brother mason answer my questions above?....
My father became a mason. I hve his sash hanging up. It was very good for him. He became a good man. I just want him to rest in peace. I feel like i failed
@trubltotal10 I'm sorry you feel the way you do. A good way to honour your dad might be to join his Lodge. Don't forget...you will never be invited...we don't do that. YOU need to approach the Lodge. Give it a go.
Did Jimmy Carter cry when CIA officers told him about Aliens (Grays in particular) ?
As always a Great analogy and ideas and suggestions on becoming a better Mason.
Thanks Maynard✝️✝️✝️
Thanks for another great video/message! Greetings from St Johns #1 Providence, Rhode Island.

Thank you for the message Brother. Maybe I should listen to this video every morning to remind me that my foundation is still being built, and that it's all orchestrated by our GAOTU, so why worry

NOTHING TO A GIANT
Great post Brother! This is such a simple thing that we can work on our whole lives, and perfectly explained by our first working tools.
Perhaps you should do a few more of these using symbols from the craft. Fraternally,
Way ahead of you ;) a new one this week on the Masonic lesson most of us walk right past....

Why you wear your watch on your right hand?
I don’t. The image is reversed because I shot this on selfie mode.
I want to join the Masons but, my mom said I can't. 😢
Listen to your mom.
@@ScottishRiteMasons I seek more light.
@@komicsreviewer8505 That was good advice. Listen to your mom. There's plenty of time for you to join in the future.
@@TheRealist2022 I want to join now tho.
The Freemasons Compass 🧭 over the Square, reminds my AUTISTIC MIND of an Arch over an Angle, that sounds like Archangel 😇 While a Carpenters Compass is used to make a Circle ⭕ and Twin Carpenter Squares Corner to Corner make a Crucifix ✝️. A Circle representing Heaven over a Crucifix make the Symbol for♀️Female. That shares the Same Symbol with♀️ Venus and ♀️Marine Copper. That reminds me of America's Statue of Liberty 🗽
My mind is constantly looking for patterns in all things🤔🧐
