Dearest Nutty Nation, I would like to take this opportunity for thanking everyone involved with the marathon event. It was so emotional experiencing the love and adulation you all have for my daughter. My mind has gone back to a video that we recorded together nearly 3 years ago (think it was titled Dad spills the beans). I would strongly urge that everyone rewatches that video again now. With the passage of time comes clarity. I remember some people questioning my objectivity, calling me a hothead or only supporting Steph dutifully being her dad etc. You will now see for yourselves what I saw in her many years ago. What I did not visualise was the dedication and hard work that Stephanie has put in since.
Stephanie is now a seriously talented athlete. Her undertaking the Ironman challenge is daunting. It is also worrying for me being her dad in view of her never quit till you die mindset, which makes this challenge dangerous. God willing she will come through this. All need to remember that as I said in that old video, she is just a normal girl, my daughter and I am just a normal man who just happens to be her dad (a very proud one at that).
I’d also like to congratulate Grant for his achievement which I see as equal or surpassing Steph’s achievement. People don’t always know every little detail on what goes on behind the scenes. Steph could not achieve half of what she does without his selfless support and love. Behind every successful person, there is a vital supporting cog without whom we’d be nothing. So thank you Grant.

Steph and Grant did an Amazing job in this marathon. those two really do make a great couple. i love how amazingly well Grant always takes care of Steph, it's truly an example to all men everywhere as to how any guy should treat a woman properly. i don't know what Grant's spiritual beliefs are but, as a Christian man myself, i can definitely say Grant takes care of Steph the right way. Now, as a Christian, i would not live together with my girlfriend if i had one but, that's because i live by what the Bible says. However, i am super happy seeing how happy Steph is with Grant. i believe that Grant truly honors Steph and shows her the proper love and respect that she should be given and i love that.

Your dads little speach just made me bawl. I ran for cancer research after being diagnosed myself last year and he is soooo right! I'm so proud of you! I barely trained (and am not athletic) but what an experience!!!

It has been so fun watching your journey and tracking you on the app! Congratulations on running the London marathon. Definitely a bucket list item for me! Can't wait to see which one you do next!! I have the Pittsburgh marathon on May 7th and I am starting to feel nervous because I ended up falling during a trail race this past Saturday and busted up my knee a little bit, so I'm hoping that my past marathon experience will get me through it 😂

This is absolutely AMAZING steph. I've been following along your ironman training series and it has inspired me seeing how joyful you've been about the entire process, and while i hate cycling and swimming, I love seeing you challenge yourself and push yourself to do things that you hadn't done previously including running a marathon! i will probably never run a full marathon because i'm a half marathon girl through and through, but its amazing to see
