    Add tags "manual wordpress installation" and "no cpanel necessary". I watched over 4 hours of videos not knowing I needed to install using FTP. Awesome video. Great voice over, no shitty background music, information well explained and to the point. I wish I could up vote it more so it were higher is search results.

    This is the best tutorial out there on how to manually install WordPress. So wish I'd saw this one first rather than watching the 4 or 5 above this one!!!

    What if my hosting does not have a CPANEL ?
    I've followed your tutorial but when I go to the my website after I upload the files via FTP, the browser returns HTTP ERROR 500. I do not have that lovely installer that you have at 4:18

    • @wpbeginner
      @wpbeginner  Před 3 lety

      If your hosting does not have CPANEL then you can normally reach out to them and they can let you know what tools they have available.

      For a completely white screen you would want to ensure you installed WordPress in the correct folder and otherwise you would want to take a look at our guide below:

    Guys you may use cPanel web disk if available. It's much faster than FTP

    Ifs already 2 hours and it is still uploading...am I doing something wrong or it is normal to take this much time...there are 2 k plus files

    • @wpbeginner
      @wpbeginner  Před 3 lety

      It would depend on your internet speed but the upload shouldn't normally take that long.

    • @wpbeginner
      @wpbeginner  Před 3 lety

      That likely means you do not have the file in the folder you are checking, you may need to reach out to your hosting provider to ensure the files are in the correct location.

      @@wpbeginner Also, I don't see a wp-config.php file in the wordpress files that I uploaded. I only see a wp-config-sample.php. Is it normal or should I edit the file and include my database information? thanks

    I don't get it? Add my domain? I don't have a website, that is exactly why I want to use Wordpress... Do I make a domain on Wordpress.com or what?!

    • @wpbeginner
      @wpbeginner  Před 4 lety

      To start, you would want to decide what you want from your site and that would determine if you want to have a WordPress.com or a WordPress.org site, we have a comparison here:
      www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/self-hosted-wordpress-org-vs-free-wordpress-com-infograph/
      For your domain that would be if you have a domain you want to use, WordPress.com has a default domain you can use but some users want a different domain than what is offered. For understanding the difference between a domain and the host you may want to take a look at our guide here:
      www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/whats-the-difference-between-domain-name-and-web-hosting-explained/

    WHERE I CAN SEE THE HOST NAME

    • @wpbeginner
      @wpbeginner  Před 2 měsíci

      Your hosting provider should be able to offer that information or have it listed in their banckend that would be specific to your site.

      If you mean the required WordPress version needs to be updated then that is required to be done by the specific theme's author

    What to do when I dont have a file public html there?

    • @wpbeginner
      @wpbeginner  Před 3 lety

      It would depend on your specific hosting provider, some use a different file structure. If you reach out to your hosting provider's support they can let you know what their equivalent is
