  • Can you commute on a Ryker there might be more to it than you think. I have been riding my Ryker into work since I got it in 2019. In some ways it's easier to commute with a Ryker and in other ways harder. While you can take anything into work here i'll give you my experience doing it and some of the options to make it easier.

I have been following you for awhile. I currently live now in Puerto Rico. I have traveled a little bit, and have lived in the other four boroughs early on in my life. I have visited Staten Island and even had a lady friend there. The rural area reminds me of Queens when I grew up.
I’m now 74. I wanted to ride a motorcycle since I was a teen. My father said no. He saw a guy loose his leg in a motorcycle accident.
I didn’t get my fiest bike until 97’. A United Motors 650cc. I told the dealer here I always wanted to ride but, didn’t know how.
He sold me the bike on condition his son would give me lessons. He gave one hour lesson. That was it. Fortunately my neighbor Jorge, taught me how to ride. My next bike was a Honda Shadow 750cc, and sleek and black. It Corbin custom seat. It was great.
I sold it about year after Hurricane Maria and left P.R. for Vegas. Hated it. Couldn’t adjust to the cold again and city living. So I sold my house and moved back to P.R.
I missed ding, my doctor and wife felt I was to old to ride a two wheel motorcycle. I had the chance to buy my old Shadow bascule, and struggled with it. My wife was driving and I was a passenger; when I saw a guy on a bike… I told her I missed riding.
I started exploring trikes. I didn’t want a Harley or a Honda Goldwing Glider. But the Ryker intrigued me.
I bought one last August. I miss the shifting of the gears and the lean on two wheels, always reminded me of sailing. However the Ryker is automatic, and I put a stick on it to shift easier. It is smooth and enjoyable ride. I drove it to my Pain Specialist 60 miles away in the predawn. I was surprised on how cold it gets here now watching the sun come up. I has on my leather jacket and helmet and gloves. My legs were still cold. But I was glad I did the ride.
I still look at Shadows on Facebook and who knows, I may get another one again… with the a Ryker I more stable in the rain and it is hard to tip over. It has cruise control and disc brakes. My only complaint is that they cut corners on its build. Most parts are plastic. There are no bottom plates protecting the undercarriage. You need to sink another $2000 for things.
Also the Ryker here cost twice as much as state side. I paired about $14,000 and put another $2000 for accessories. I enjoy the ride, but will always miss my shadow and sailing.

Interesting story. I can tell you miss 2 wheels but you have to admit that 3 is better than 0 or 4 .

Thank you for responding. Wasn’t sure expecting it. Good luck on your channel. I will keep watching, and I😢 let you know definitely let you know if I get another Shadow.
Had saddle bags on my old bike. Looking for alternative saddle bags and frame that might fit on my Ryker. Don😢 like the helmet case!

The common thing is any saddlebag setup must be ridged or it will hit the swing arm . The f3’s have them built in on the F3T and up. There aren’t many options compared to two wheelers as you would think. Most bags that sit will work but if they dip below the platform you might be getting into trouble. I really appreciate your continued interest and will keep trying to keep it interesting.

I commute and ride all the time. I got a the tank bag and I keep a few things in it. It works for me. I got another bag I strap to the back seat. Thats all I need to pretty much ride most of my rides.

Never found a use for the tank bag but the too case all the time. Have you rode with a back pack? Not a fan but doable.
