Prior to the race, the team spent a month training at altitude in Font Romeu, France. Lucy gives some insight into pro triathlete training, and the importance of getting the timing right to peak on race day. Thanks to @ASICSGlobal for running the training camp!

One approach to alltitude training can be to implement alltitude chains during the season. During the early and mid preparation period you do longer training camps (at least 4 weeks per camp) at a high alltitude (>2000m) to improve basic endurance and resilience to hypoxia . During the late preparation period and competition period you can go for shorter camps (2 or 3 weeks) at lower alltitude (1200-1600m) to train at higher intensity and closer to race pace / race watts. After 2 or 3 camps at higher alltitude for longer time periods during the winter you adapt very quick to the hypoxia and can handle the higher training intensity very well. These short camps can also be done in-between races to preserve the effects from the previous camps and to refresh basic endurance during the racing season. In track & field many pro athletes have made good experiences following this approach.

However, having watched your race on TV 2 wks ago and seeing you lead the pack in the Swim and on the bike, I kept asking myself if you had enough gas in the tank to maintain your lead on the run. In my opinion, the 1st & 2nd place finishers, took advantage of your draft during most of the swim and were more conservative on the bike (with a higher more relaxed cadence), keeping themselves fresher for the run. Great race, stay strong and good luck in your next event!
A nice video as always, I've missed those. Great race and congrats on the podium. I didn't know you needed a visa to race in Europe because of the Brexit but that's definitely not great... Anyway, regarding the cold bath I would guess 1min32s.

France has a “Talents and Competencies” visa that you might look into. Not sure if there’s a requirement to actually reside in France for a majority of the year; but other than that, you’d likely check the boxes.
About visa, probably some races in Norway ? Maybe possible with visa there 😁 Ice bath : 1:30min 🤷
