yes! the baby is traditionally named for a feature of the current LP, not the upcoming one, that's what feels off about Laird to me. Nectar or horse-themed names would also be acceptable.

MCCC has settings that make all family members have the same last name. It can be turned off, but that's probably why it changed the name back.

31:52 With the recent sims update. the ENTIRE reward trait shop broke, so it'll say you don't own it, but you already do. Which also means, players could "Accidentally" buy it twice, this isn't a save issue/cheat issue, this is an entire game wide issue. I've had this issue occur to me and their isn't a solution other than waiting for EA/Maxis to fix this issue. Hope this bit of info helps! =)

When I was a young rider working at a stable back in the 1980s, the owner of the riding school (my boss, obvs) had a thing for appaloosas (for James, that's a spotty horse breed--to be simple, other horse people, don't come at me ;) ). So, he was obsessed with breeding his own. Now, horse genetics are actually a lot of fun, but long story shot, the colour of the spots on a leopard appaloosa (such as Pegasus is) is the "base colour" of the animal--be that chestnut (redhead) or bay/black brown. You have a 50/50 chance of getting a blanket spot horse when breeding with a leopard + a solid horse. BUT spot x spot (100/0 chance) or spot x blanket spot (75/25 in favour) can also throw "death white" horses that usually die at or shortly before birth. So. Marcel chose a leopard stallion who had a 100% throw rate for spots thus far, putting him to one of his solid mares to avoid said genetic anomaly.
He ended up with a beautiful filly (female) foal the exact colour of your new filly there.
He called her Spotless.
So, I'm sorry. I laughed. Nostalgia is fun. ;) [I'm also of Scots stock. Anyone who dislikes the name Laird can fight me on that /grin]

Based on stories I’ve been told by people who have lived/worked on a farm, there is always a Baahtuu - meaning that there’s that one animal that has cheated death on numerous occasions and is a quick favourite (sometimes like in this let’s play, they’re the only one that has an actual name not number lol)
For my parents, it's a chicken named Cluck Norris. I swear, that chicken has lived double its life expectancy and is still laying!

We had a cat named Hairy Potter. He was already at least 4 or 5 when we rescued him. He had so many weird medical issues and injuries. We had him for 18 years before he decided to leave us one day, the way cats do near the end. We never did find him though, so he may very well have just felt it was time to find a new family to confuse. (To avoid suspicions of immortality.)
We had a rooster named George who cheated death many times... he even lived thru and I assume beat a fox in a fight. He was a tough old bird.

It's not that people don't like funny names, look at all the other options from the wheel. People just don't like the sound of Laird I guess, it sounds like Lard.

@@jjsidekick Laird has only one vowel sound, which is a diphthong, which makes the rhythm a bit off. Something like "Lordie" would be easier to pronounce, as people tend to prefer names with two syllables, with the first one stressed.

With the horses they don’t mix very well, it’s either like their mother or father. So I normally just edit them in CAS so they’re a mix of both! Just an idea for stormy! ⚡️

I mean I have named sims after different foreign words I saw on a glue stick. I just like funky names. It gives the sims personality.
James saying "I need to take a break soon" made me lol because he was getting so upset over the menus and gates, like he doesn't play this broken AF game almost every day 😂 so excited for the next generation!
NGL - The crazy but thematically appropriate names are one of the reasons the Bigwallt Let's Plays are so entertaining. I actually prefer them to regular names. Laird Bigwallet is a beautiful name. It reminds me also of the word "lair", as in "evil lair" which I consider very fitting for the ultimate incarnation of evil, a landlord. I am so looking forward to another chaotic LP!

Laird becoming a landlord makes sense to me. Her mom started from nothing and ended up owning this huge, beautiful ranch. Maybe Laird sees that as inspiration to want to own a bunch of land, too. So she goes to a new city and tries to break out on her own.

Horse breeding is broken. The horse born seems to always be a clone of either parent. I would not be opposed to changing up the looks just to give us a mix of the two parents markings and colours.
I agree, I think the horse genetic system in the sims 4 will always just make a copy of either parent, it never seems to be a mix.
As I understand it, this was done deliberately as it's a bit more like horse breeding in real life when it comes to coat pattern genetics. (I'm certainly no expert, but there was some dialogue about it on lilsimsie's channel). It definitely makes it less fun, though, I will say!

First of all, that comment someone made about naming the next baby Locks is A+ second of all, James: when I play on this lot, I fix the issue of the horses getting stuck in that off-the-lot fenced area by placing big rocky landscaping that blocks them from being able to get in there, and now I don’t have to worry about locking the lot itself.
I wonder if James ever remembered that he added a mod that made horses able to exit gates that were otherwise locked ot them when mounted and that's probably why his locks were the bane of his existience this LP ...
