  • Google unveiled the new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, their new flagship Android phones. This time, these phones are back with better screens, better cameras, and a big old notch on the Pixel 3 XL. But, can these phones beat the iPhone XS camera? Dieter Bohn reviews the phones to find out.

Left pocket: smarthpone. Right pocket: keys, wallet, and anything else.
Honestly, I don't think ANY smartphone is completely keyproof. And most importantly, there's not much effort to keep your smartphone away from keys scrathing on the pocket.

A tempered glass screen protector and a skin go a long with to making your phone "keyproof" without adding any bulk. Plastic screen protectors get scratched easily with keys but tempered glass screen protectors dont

That is so true that is the reason I'm willing to deal with that notch is just for the extra battery life. What I don't understand is why does the pixel 4 only have a $2,900 MHz battery in 2020 for a flagship phone? My wife and I both preordered the smaller version of the Pixel 3 (unlocked). I went with the clearly white, she got the not pink. The factors that sold us on it were:
1: The Camera (of course). I do a lot of shooting on the go and actually do a lot of night photography so I am stoked on night sight.
2: Google assistant features. I love Google and use it for most of my home tech.
3: The smaller size. I HATE big phones. Smaller ones are more comfortable to me and easier to use (personal preference)
4: The headphones. This might sound funny but I was stoked when I saw they included some decent ones. I hate that this isn't always the case.
5: Stock android. I used to be a Samsung fan but I got SO SICK of their software bloating my phone.
Can't wait for it to arrive!
Edit: Just arrived! Love it! Camera is amazing, headphones are comfortable (sound great), and the size is perfect! Highly recommend!

Wireless charging is great? I'd love to know why people think that is a cool feature, considering wired charging is faster, the wireless charger means your phone is tethered - just like wired, and with wired, at least you can hold your phone and use it. Wireless charging is the dumbest thing ever. I have yet to see a single person adequately justify it. It's completely stupid. Period. Let's gear your argument.

    • @maxkho00

It is priceless for me, as I always charge my phone overnight, with my alarm set for the morning, and very often I realise just before sleep that I need to check something on my phone. Not only is it inconvenient to have wires wrapped around you, which limit the range and position in which you are holding your phone and also annoyingly often drag my phone to the floor so that I then have to pick it up, quickly unplugging my phone and plugging it back in isn't an option, as it's way too dark to see anything during the night.
Furthermore, the Pixel Stand puts your phone in such a position that, combined with Pixel 3's 'always on' feature, it allows you to see your notifications, time, and whether from anywhere in your room. This is not the biggest reason for why I have ordered the Stand, but it's a nice addition.
Finally, the Pixel Stand turns your Pixel 3 into essentially a Google Home device, which is a nice touch.

    • @TheAxlin
      @TheAxlin Před 5 lety +1

I think it has major implications for the future. Imagine, for instance, pulling your EV into a parking space that can automatically charge your car while you shop. It's a nascent technology so naturally its uses are limited right now, but as the tech improves it could lead to ubiquitous and seamless charging for a broad range of devices and peripherals in the years to come.

I had purchased a Pixel 2 afterwards because I wanted to stay with the camera, but that phone came out of the box with a defective mic. I returned it quickly after and am using a 5 year old 5s that works fine! And the complaints about the lag on the Pixel 2 are real! Even MKBHD has this problem on his phone. Don't fall for all the camera hype, photos are about the only thing this phone is good for, quality control with hardware and software seems to be a massively lacking.

I switched from IPhone to the Google Pixel 2 XL last year and loved it! I've toyed with Android over the years with Samsungs and Sony but always went back to IPhone after a couple of months! However I loved the 2XL so much I had to make the upgrade to the 3 XL ... It's not a huge jump in most of the improvements but the display is stunning !! I love it!! And the Notch isn't that bad !!

Yooo!! That notch editing is amazing. Truly gave me a sense of what it's like having a giant notch on my phone. 👏👏👏
