I just ordered this and it should be here this Friday. Watching your vids and getting some great ideas. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching Mike! I appreciate it! Enjoy your new grill/smoker!
Just bought this grill online last night after watching you and some others reviews on it! Just ordered the brackets and gonna have a custom board made to install as my shelf, thanks for the tips!!
Thanks for watching Dave! Congrats!
Thank you for the video. Added shelf to my 700 using your video!
Thanks for watching Rob!
Randomly found this and it's exactly what I wanted. Love the grill modifying
Thanks for Watching Chris!
Used this idea for my Green Mountain. Works perfectly! Thanks!!
Glad it worked out for you! Thanks for Watching!
Great upgrade Tom, thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Bill! Allot of fun to do!
thanks it was a great idea I really liked the folding hung bracket especially at that price point so I went and did my own on my masterbuilt 560
Nice! Glad it worked out for you! I appreciate you watching!
Thanks! This was exactly what I was looking for! Except for 2 side wheels to roll the grill vs having to lift it (I mod'd my z-grill to add wheels on the hopper side), a shelf is the only accessory that I feel this grill is missing -- so, I'm glad I found your video!!!
Thanks for Watching John! Enjoy!
I have a Weber Go-Anywhere Grill. I know, it can't hold a shelf. But I just had to see the latest creation! Glad I did - those wooden planks would come in handy in my kitchen. Thanks!
Thanks Sandra! I appreciate you watching!
I put a side shelf on mine that i took from my old gas grill I threw away, I will be ordering those brackets to make a front shelf for sure, nice add on for $20, thanks.
Thanks for Watching Joe!
That turned out awesome!
Thanks Bart! It was awesome!
That was awesome. I’m definitely putting one on mine. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for Watching!
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I just ordered the brackets from Amazon. Great idea.
Nice! Super Simple to do!
I have a pit boss 820 deluxe, the legs are tapered for a wider footprint but being mechanically inclined I was able to use your base idea and adapt it to my pellet grill, thank you as it is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for Watching Jim! Appreciate the feedback
Nice upgrade! I would suggest using a food safe finish. That way the shelf can double as a cutting board. Great job!
Thanks for Watching Mike! I appreciate you Watching and your comment!
much better It looks good Tom
Thanks Wayne! I appreciate you watching!
Good Job Tom... :) BTW I've used an Oak stair tread that I pick up from Lowe's it has a bull nose and it's real pretty too..
Good idea Larry! I appreciate you watching!
Excellent idea, thank you
The Modmaster at it again 👍🏻
Yes he is! Thanks for Watching Michael!
Yeah Tom that's a neat shelf I have something very similar on my pit Boss.
Nice Mike! Thanks for watching!
Brackets are ordered! Cheaper than the Harbor Freight option. Thanks for the idea and search time!
Thanks for Watching! I appreciate it!
Another nice MOD! Nice work MK Tom!...sorry I mean dad
Thanks BBQ Brian!
Damn good job Tom !
Thanks Jeff!

Thank you, great video.
Nice work!
Thanks!
Thanks for this! my biggest frustration with my 450 zgrill rn is that I can't open and close the lid with things sitting on the small factory shelf. Will be adding this on to mine soon.
Thanks for Watching! I appreciate That!
Great job. I need to see if i can do that with my camp chef smoker.
Thanks for watching Doug!
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Looks great, just what I'm looking for. I tried the website you listed for the steel shelf you show in this video but can't seem to locate it on their site.
Thanks for Watching Paul! It appears that it isn’t available, I did send it to Z grills maybe the will pick it up
Wow Tom, that shelf looks really nice with that urethane on there and those brackets are great idea.
But I have a question about the sheet metal that you put behind there; couldn't you use a piece of quarter inch plywood behind that front panel to make it more rigid instead of the sheet metal? I kinda thought you were leaving the wood behind there for support.
Wouldn't that have worked instead of the sheet metal for more strength?
Thanks!! 👍
Thanks for Watching Joe! Yup, could’ve used plywood no problem, I chose the sheet metal instead.
Tom the shelf and brackets look great! Will those brackets fit the MB Gravity 560?
Thanks for Watching Don! Yes they will!
Thanks for the tip. I have the same grill.
I have another issue with it though, the left side is too hot. I wonder if there's some sort of baffle I could add to better distribute the heat
Thanks for Watching! They all pretty much have a hot spot
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I noticed it got worse over time. Wonder why that is
No sure,
Great idea, thanks for sharing the video. Could you share the link to the brackets? I see links you provided to the grill, but not seeing any mention or links for the brackets. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for watching! Couple years ago for this video, don’t have the grill anymore. Just search SS foldable shelf brackets on Amazon. Plenty of choices
Great job, Tom. can this Z Grill take on a larger hopper?
Thanks for Watching! It’s 20 pounds as it is, I don’t think it could handle more
Where were the hinges for your wire rack install purchased?
Thanks for Watching! Amazon
Looks Awesome. Great Job. Is it possible that you can put the link to the smoke daddy shelf as well? I can’t seem to find it on the site. Thanks.
Thanks again for Watching Gil! Unfortunately Smoke Daddy isn’t selling the shelf anymore...Sorry
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Aww Damn!! I just ordered the Camp Chef SG30 WIFI PELLET GRILL and that Smoke Daddy shelf looked like it would’ve been perfect. I guess I’m gonna have to try and figure something out. Because the Camp Chef SG30 doesn’t have a flat front. Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. If you’d like to sell that shelf let me know. LOL
Lol! Hopefully someone else will start to make it...
The flat surface on the front of mine is the interior of the grill. That should still be fine right?
Thanks for watching! Yes
How far from the grill panel do the brackets stick out when folded down? I'm looking at adding a shelf but the 700D3 has door handles on the lower storage doors. I suppose I could add a small spacer between the brackets if it needs it.
Thanks for watching! No spacers needed
Let me explain. The 700D3 has a lower cabinet with door handles that extend 2" out from the frame. For the brackets to work the surface to mount the wood would have to be at least 2" from the grill panel. From the looks of these brackets that would be insufficient without some kind of extension. It looks like the wood surface would be about 1" from the grill panel. Maybe I can find other brackets that will work.
I don’t have the 700d3, sorry about that, I guess I’m confused as to where the handles impede. Is it when the table is in the folded down position? Or is it that the brackets are to long for the doors to operate? Just shop around on Amazon all different styles and sizes of these types of brackets. Good Luck
Who makes the fold down chrome grill? Please add that to the video comments, thanks.
Thanks for watching Dan! It’s in the comments! www.smokedaddyinc.com
What size handi-panel did you use in this video?
Thanks for watching John! If I remember correctly it was 2’x2’ that I cut down, don’t have that grill anymore
Maybe I missed it but where is the link for the bracekets from Amazon
It’s in the video description
I do have one question, I couldn't understand what you did to connect the wood to the brackets?
Thanks for Watching! Good question! Short Sheet Metal screws into the wood
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ and that was enough grip to keep it secure? Just want to make sure. Will more than likely be doing this next weekend.
Yes, the coarse threads on the flat head sheet metal worked excellent
Would that wire shelf fit any charcoal grill?
Thanks for watching Jeff!!as long as it’s the barrel type
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ thanks!!
What is the size of the board you used?
Thanks for Watching Ryan! Sorry don’t have the grill anymore, I would go the width of the grill and 12”-16” deep
Will these mods work on the zgrill 1052?
Thanks for Watching Kenny!…czcams.com/video/8qebobWQVFM/video.htmlsi=StuYt_uhzxZxdr_S
Hello, if still there how wide should a front shelf be? 🖖✌️
Thanks for Watching Rick! Measure what you plan to use on it
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Traeger Silverton 810. I obtained folding front brackets from Etsy. You have lots of experience. I wondered how wide I should make shelf that would be practical & not interfere with reaching into pellet grill much. Thanks for your response.
Hi Rick, I just measure the width of the tray that I use the most to determine width. Place your favorite tray next to the grill to see if it interferes

You talk pretty fast, I couldn't understand the website you mentioned. Smokeskeety?
Thanks for Watching Steve! Smoke Daddy, www.smokedaddyinc.com

not seeing the shelf on this website - are they still selling it?
Thanks for Watching Jim, I’ve been told by others that they are not, sorry
I wish this guy would talk faster.
Lol! Thanks for Watching!
