  • In the middle of winter in the highlands of Germany, snow covers the ground and the lakes are frozen over, While eagles penetrate the ice to try and find food, most of the marine life like carp and catfish lie dormant until it warms up again, with the exception of the pike who hunts all year round. As the winter comes to an end, we head towards the North Sea where the snow begins to melt, and encounter the wildlife awakening again for Spring, from toads and snakes, to beavers looking for their latest meal.

    That ground beetle predating everything in sight is legitimately terrifying.

    3:36 Crabs live in saltwater! That is a crayfish!

      @Aliandrin Před 2 lety

      There are freshwater crabs, however, that is definitely a crayfish. Crabs don't have those long butts. At least, crayfish is what we call those little freshwater lobsters in the states.

      You are correct!
      Fresh water crabs live in the tropics and the pike/musky live in cold water!

      Down South, they're crawfish. More affectionately, mud bugs. 😂 Good eat'n!!

    Wasn't that a lobster or a crayfish?

    • @johnortmann3098
      @johnortmann3098 Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, crayfish. Also, the "pike" colonizing the coal mine at 22:30 were actually perch.

    • @Aliandrin
      @Aliandrin Před 2 lety +1

      @@johnortmann3098 Definitely. They just told us how pike must greedily eat up other fish and how the crayfish (which it definitely was) was just a snack. So how could pike be the first in?! Wouldn't they die of starvation?!

      @blumensekte Před 2 lety

      No, its only there for historical reasons, we have a couple of castles and these ancient tools and systems still remain as they do no harm. They are just pretty 🤷‍♀️🥰
